We are the most wasteful nationality on earth , we moan that industry is dying , landfill sites are overfull with plastic containers - and to top things off , ordinary working class people get hassle for catching rabbits! This country is growing even more insane by the day !! you should be awarded for catching bunnies on council land - especially if they are for the pot!.

Nice strong doggy there - have you drawn the hare ? i always leave to hang for a week before to get a strong flavour.
-
Nope , i havent heard of that. as mentioned - if deemed responsible enough to buy , keep and use the firearm and ammo - why the hell would you need to be supervised?
-
the trap is probably anodised or galvanised mild steel, although i have only seen a pic of the trap i reckon a steel tent peg cut to size would do the job for you, even if this doesnt fit the hole in the plate you could drill the hole bigger .- i definately wouldnt write the trap off!g'luck

Go to a local carboot sale , guaranteed to come across some sort of wooden box that you can pop holes in and attatch a strap to. Cheap as chips.

From my slim experience in calling foxes - anything commercial tends to be much less effective . Nearly all my successful squeakings have been done on the back of my hand.

what about my lab X pit ya bloon house dog do thing your dogs wouldnt look at that looks more like a retriever

I dont feed high protein feed [ i find that most of the protein gets scraped like slurry off the kennel floor] just something between 18 and 22% protein During the shooting season when the dogs are most active - mine tend to get a little skinny - i buy frozen tripe chunks and put a handfull on top of their feed 3 times a week , it does bulk them up. But is very temporary - they will literally lose this bulk in two hard days work. It doesnt seem to upset their stomachs either. maybe this would work for you? Good luck!

Dynamite + Net + River in the UK = Illegal and not nice ! you leave little fishies alone - and eat all those baby animals the farmer has

They sell creosote in my local hardware- but it is not the same as the old stuff , still stinks pretty similar though.! Need to be careful as not to drown the place , you might find the rabbits all sitting out or gone elswhere. Maybe an alternative would be to surround the place with a longnet. Good luck

Depends a lot on quarry , and range, you will need a different pellet to shoot a rabbit at 30yds to a farm pigeon at 10yds. It really does pay to try out different shaped pellets - they all have their good and bad points. However if i was to go for an all rounder i would probably go for the crossman'accupel' pretty accurate and some decent stopping power for some longer range quarry. for close range ratting or pigeons id go for a hollow beeman'crow magnum'

The gun has very useable sights, i think they are fibre optic - just a little light from behind is needed and the dots on the sights glow up. Im thinking of buying an old petzl spot headtorch - half the price of a new bulb for the Atom.
-
Thanks guys - just for info i did find a bulb on DEBEN.COM Its a nicely priced item - £17.50 + PP = £24.00 !! I think ill hang a bout a bit and see if i can grab one on ebay.
-
Cheers for the reply guys- a headtorch sounds good , light over the sights is really no problem. but preferably id like to mount the lamp on the gun- my bulb is bust and at the mo it doesnt look like ill get another
-
I am on the island , and used to ferret a lot- still got some gear [and the knowledge] but no ferret at the mo. If you have a ferret i would take you out no probs.

Hi. I have just bought a cheap edgar'bros 22 springer. Havent shot with airpower for years but always used to favour precharged guns. Had a few shots with this gun and seems reasonably accurate for the price i paid and surprisingly i enjoyed shooting this with open sights [sort of took me back a bit] . I wont be asking much more of it than shooting pigeons in a barn [occasionally] and the odd rat. I have a 6V tracer atom lamp and was wondering if anyone has ever mounted one of these on a springer?? does the recoil affect the lamp?? Also i will need a spare bulb for the lamp and cant seem to

It will take some time - usually to get familiar with the unfamiliar rabbit warren. I used to look for small warrens/burrows with only three or four bolt holes to start a ferret off - that way it wont get lost , and it will see the light of day often - with large deep warrens , even experienced ferrets will get lost underground. Slowly but surely is the name of the game to begin with - very easy to put off a young ferret by forcing it into a burrow. I used to use a locator , i dont now. I have never lost a ferret [only overnight] Good Luck

boring kunt Just my halfdozen mate. No need to call me a boring kunt is there? Change the first word to sustainable , and spell the second correctly. And i wouldnt be offended at all being called a Sustainable c**t

I hunt for the pot and do my best not to waste. I also believe in catching what you NEED and no more. eg. not catching 20 rabbits because we can, but catching two or three because its enough. not shooting 10 ducks because we can, but shooting two or three because its enough. [Pest control is a totally different game - which i have little experience of] As for the hares ... coursing is illegal. and personally id rather see them boxing in march than hanging.

complete food wet or dry
HEDS replied to munsterlurcher's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Whether you feed it dry or wet , the dog will get the same ammount of goodness methinks. I feed dry , but have heard guys saying that feeding soaked takes less trail on the dogs digestive system .... although i doubt it. -
THANKS FOR THE REPLYS GUYS , I THINK I HAVE IT ALL A BIT CLEARER NOW. NORTH WALES POLICE ARE MY ISSUING FORCE, AND I HAVE NO LETTERS AT ALL BEFORE THE CONDITIONS. I WILL PESTER MY FAO AGAIN TO ENSURE THAT LAND HAS BEEN PASSED - THEN I CAN GO SHOOTING. BINGO
-
Id say a broom stick is a bit thick mate , they will be bulky to carry/a bit noisy when they clang against eachother/and a bit tough to stick into hard ground. I use straight hazel , 3/4 inch thick - with knots sanded down , and a pointy end . Cheap and practical !!
-
Thanks for the reply's by the way lads!! Had a look and i cant see any indication of a letter C or D. I t says ''Additional conditions may be added here by the chief officer of police. 5 . The 17hmr rifle and sound moderator and ammunition to which this certificate relates shall be used for vermin control and zeroing on [name of farm] and on any other land deemed suitable by the chief..... blah blah blah 6. this is not a statutory condition but advice on the law.....blah blah blah''

Mate i dont know of sasha's history - but i will look at previous posts now. A very tough decision made , but morally probably the right decision for you otherwise you wouldnt have made it. RIP SASHA.
