  1. Nice strong looking young dog, should get you some good results with careful introduction.......
  2. Try her behind (in the same hole) as an experienced worker early next season and see how she goes. If within a couple of months things aren't productive, it may not be suited to work.
  3. I think you will struggle to buy a better book dedicated to the subject in this lifetime........ A quality book that is top order
  4. I'm thinking this may well have been the case Hywell, the Hob was in a decent run with a Gill and she is ok but Reynard has enterd my garden quite regular just lately. I noticed when we had the snow he had patroled around the edge of the hawk weathering to the edge of the electric fence before making a B line to the chicken coop. one of the joys of living in the sticks but he'll come a cropper soon Hmmmm, this may well be a possibility. It won't be the first time this has happened.
  5. 14 yrs, I went through a pair in two seasons
  6. He was perfect the day before Haywel, I had him out and he was totaly bang on, he ate the day before as normal too .... I feed alot of Biscuits to them aswel as the odd Rabbits but a majority of their diet is Biscuit, I'm thinking this coiuld be a problem but all the rest of the Ferrets are fine. think I'm getting paranoid now why he went from being in perfect health one day and dead the next....... A heart attack may well be the cause then, I wouldn't say it's the diet. Where are the ferrets kept i.e. are the hutches outdoors and could something have startled him, like reynard?
  7. That's an interesting point, I didn't realise over with you lads that you don't have the SGC and only the FAC....
  8. A sudden illness like a heart attack may well be the cause. What had he eaten the previous day?
  9. Unless things have changed from the perspective of FAO visits in the past few years, mine was keen on the arrangements for gun storage i.e. type of cabinet to be used, location etc.....
  10. Keep them all if you have the space.
  11. never used a finder in 30 years ferreting cant see the need There you go then..........
  12. A good weekend indeed Paul was that the long hedge we did previously (towards road) or a new one? We will have to get out soon so I can do more damage to my fingers
  13. Another productive weekend mate, that freezer of yours will need to be bigger than Macro before long..........
  14. Normally about an hour or so before dusk. Mind you, depends what's about though......
  15. Well done FD, a seamless move from Deer to Foxes. Keep up the good work
  16. If ever I have more than four ferrets at one time, it is either for:- 1. I have retired ferrets in the cages or 2. I am continuing a breeding line in an older jill
  17. Some very good pics of the days action there Jayhawk I have a brindle bitch very similar in appearance to those dogs in yours
  18. Tried sending you a PM mate, but bounced back.

  19. Horses for courses, nothing wrong with that. I find the smaller ferrets can always justify their presence in the box on a days ferreting
  20. you dig ,when you have to dig ,no one likes to dig all the time ,but when you do ,you just have to get on with it ,whats macho about it ? Nothing macho about digging "all the time" at all, but with certain sizes of ferrets you dig more often for the same results as "smaller" ferrets. I prefer mine to kill and move on. That's the beauty of locators, more often than not nothing is left behind.
  21. "Hairdresser Ferrets" I'm afraid mine just bolt rabbits......
