    I use Borders with my whipps nowadays, they will face any cover especially all the brambles we have here and they are steadier than my terriers of the past, my mother has just got a working cocker pup and as she is only a few hundred yards away I can see that joining us soon

    the best I ever saw was a 3/4 grey 1/4 DH x 3/4grey 1/4 sal often saw her taking 50+ she was also the mother to Joe Thompsons Sniper but I find the whippet in general as hard to beat for rabbits, the thing is when you mate 2 whippets together , you know what you are getting you get whippets

    plenty dont catch first time out, but I doubt many will admit that. When you first go out personally if the dog caught the 1st rabbit I would go straight home with the dog on a high, its all a learning curve for the youngsters , and no matter what anyone says their dogs dont catch every rabbit but lamping is addictive and a great sport, get out there and enjoy yourself

    a lot of people pay good money for top breeding purely and simply because they are lazy and think they will have to do less to get a competant dog. socialising , entering , experience and a good diet is whats needed more than breeding though

    aye Thomas Incidently my little red bitch is going to Dodger next month hopefully, I know colour doesnt mean anything but I am interested to see what tone of colours come from a red blue cross, and I will be keeping one of the smaller bitches, I prefer small whippets only because I like them to look like the whippets we all remember

    my dog Nevedith breeding(show blood) mating a SS bitch, he is 18.5" and now 27lb but as you can see a lot smaller than most SS blood doesnt mind sticking his head where it can get hurt ;- can retrieve a bit here on the fens also my bitch who doesnt mind the sticking her head where it can get hurt either 16.5" and 21lb and not bothered by the cold

    a lot of whippets yap if they arent fit/over matched getting them fit will help some dogs, but not all , some dogs are just yappers(all breeds) and theres nothing you can do
