  1. Few pics of the pup I got from DFK last year, she's just over 7 months now. If any of the other lads who got pup out of this litter have got pics put them up, will be interesting to see how they vary in looks/build across the litter. Shes a wheaten/whippet/grey x bull/grey.
  2. Yes, surely if you're driving along with your dog in the car you don't have to prove where you've been or are going? What if you don't show them anything? They can't arrest you for driving with a dog in the car!
  3. I knew the risk when I gave mine previcox but nothing else would work. Without it he struggled to stand up, when he was on Previcox I would walk him for between 1 and 2 hours a day and he could run at full speed (good for an 8 year old mastiff!). It was a choice, a shorter life of decent quality, or a longer one where he struggled to walk and couldn't run. The choice was easy, he loved his walks far too much to be lame! I would only use them if there's no alternatives though.
  4. does anyone use their whippets in woodland or is it asking for trouble? I wouldn't mind a whippet but half the places I go are in woodland, are they OK as long as they're familiar with the land etc. or is it not advisable?
  5. Nice one, what do you use it for? What's its temprament like?
  6. Just seen that wheaten x whippet on the whippet cross thread, anyone got any more pics of the first cross? looks a really nice dog.
  7. I wouldn't give it Previcox unless you really have to, I had to give it to my Mastiff as he had arthritis in his hip, nothing else would work. 8 months after starting to take it his kidney failed and I had to have him put down. If you do have to give it Previcox make sure you give it to him on a full stomach, it's pretty strong stuff and although they say kidney problems is rare I've looked into it properly and it's relatively common.
  8. those are nice looking dogs!
  9. I've got a 6 month old lurcher that I'll be using to mooching for rabbits and ferreting next season. I want to get another dog for bushing and really fancy getting a beagle but from what I've read on here they seem like hard work and not really very practical. Does anyone work one with a lurcher and how good are they for this? From what I can gather they just go off doing their own thing, following a scent and completely ignoring their owner whenever they're on a scent. The obvious solution would be to just get a spaniel but I do like the idea of getting a beagle, but I'd need to at lea
  10. I'm confused, where does he say it'll catch a rabbit at 12 weeks??
  11. Thanks Penny, I've just found the link below which goes into more detail but pretty much says the same as you've said....I'll leave her in tact I think! http://www.naiaonline.org/pdfs/LongTermHealthEffectsOfSpayNeuterInDogs.pdf
  12. I was planning on getting my pup spayed when she reaches 5 months in a few weeks but have read a few reports saying it can have a detrimental effect on the growth of the pup along with a few other potential disadvantages. Does anyone know if there's any truth in this? If there's a chance it might have any kind of negative effect then I probably won't get it done. How many people get their dogs neutured and does it affect the way they work?
  13. Yes you're right, it's shit because of novices like me. It'd be much better if everyone on here was a stroppy keyboard hard man.
  14. I wouldn't have thought so because to slip the dog in the first place means that you've seen the hare, so why would it need flushing in order to shoot it?
  15. Anyone got any tips on how to teach/encourage a lurcher pup how to swim. I've got a 4 month old pup and I'm keen to get her swimming from an early age, mainly for exercise in the summer months. I've tried chucking a stick in but she'll run up to the edge and not go any further, I don't really want to throw her in because it might break her trust in me. What do people think? Is it a case of they'll either like the water or they won't? Or is there some way of encouraging them to jump in?
  16. maybe if you developed an interest in birds aswell you might get laid once in a while and chill the f*ck out! It was a joke you stroppy prick!
  17. Really? How odd. I'm interested in birds, beer and footy aswell.
  18. 6 months??? Wow! She is going to be a monster! Stunning dog.
  19. MY COMMENTS Read what the KID has said he is obviously a complete idiot no doubt trying to be the big man breeding his"hunting Dog" Some of you lot on the other hand are F*****g nasty why on earth did the dogs owner let someone of that age enter into a pay later deal in the first place. I wouldn't have and I'd have checked whether he could afford to raise the pups properly and had a decent place to keep them. Just my opinion as a responsible adult. PS I'm not a Social Worker. Exactly! reflects the priority of a lot of the people on here....cash over welfare of the dogs.
  20. I don't understand, what difference does it make if its a pedigree or a non pedigree? You should get all dogs jabbed.
