  1. had a dog bred this way was a cracking dog for what I wanted day night all game no probs but was sometimes iffy on reduns single,he got killed last year out lamping. I have a pup out of him now 14 month old he was put to a minshaw/lurcher x 1x bull grey bitch,he is showing good signs.my other dogs are saluki whippet grey x bull grey imo this is a better mix atb
  2. well mate i say get a pup off parents that are doing what you want your pup to do,and that way you stand a good chance of getting what you want, everyones idea and views on a allrounder is different.and what x to get well 2 dogs bred same way can be totally different as far as working goes if you know what im saying
  3. from what ive seen, they either do retrieve or they dont ive got one here that will come in to 10ft away but walks off when you go to get it and ive tried everything but its set in its ways, some will improve but on the whole most wont.worst thing that causes this is another dog near by or a nervous kind
  4. the saluki grey x bull grey i had was fastest dog ive seen run and could run all night long but he would kill fox one night and not the next but he could catch anything day or night, ive got a pup out of him and a minshaw/ lurcher mix x bull grey and he is the spit and has all the same traits so hope he is as good ov a worker
  5. just been getting myself a new dog seen as though i lost my other a few week ago due to being knocked down while out lamping, ive bought a 15 month old bull whip/saluki grey x 1/4 bull 3/4 grey he has done no lamping so ready to bring on.has anyone else ran this cross
  6. cracker looking dog that mate, sad news to hear , what way was he bred?? cheers mate he was bred off a 1x saluki hound over a 1/2 x bull hound he excelled on edible but towards the end was not so keen on the reds single handed but its edible for me so didnt care really anything else is a bonus
  7. yeh your right i cannot think of a more unlucky way to lose him he was just coming back to car as he always did
  8. he was ran over a week gone sat as we were lamping off the road, he was returing back to car after a run the on coming car never slowed down just shot right past took my wing mirror off and duke popped his head out from behind my car and it hit him driver didnt even stop.i would say they were pissed or asleep as the road was a small back road where two cars hardly fit.anyother time the cars slow down and its the quietest road ever i have never seen a car while ive ever beent.hats how easy accidents happen wrong place wrong time.i bred a pup from him in the summer which is 4 month old now so he
  9. absolutely gutted,he was my best dog and done everthing i asked of him.RIP duke lad
  10. tbh dogs get knocks it did not need treatment as it heeled and never bothered it again the first time and the second time was the same, when he knocked it again and you could tell it was not right he went to the vets,i dont run him on tarmack but when you lamp off roads when they jump back out of the field 9/10 times they will land back on the road i dont always lamp this way but if i want a red i do some people lamp this way all the time
  11. if any dog runs over a brick etc full pelt in the ground it will hurt its feet i run him out of the car alot and i have no idea whats in the fields an jumping back out onto tarmac and them gateways up here get filled with bricks to stop the mud, this might be the problem but alot of people run dogs off the roads.no dont know of but any greyhound vets and he is not a greyhound
  12. the first 2 he done were never treated by a vet he was just rested and all went well never to cause any other problems, the next 2 i left and they heeled well with rest but when he next ran one went really swollen so i took him vets just a normal vets but ive tried 2 different vets the second is a man who has ment to have knowledge with this type of problem they all told me the same that the lump is scar tissue and that when heeled the toe should be harder
  13. has anyone had problems with there dog hurting there ligaments on there toe?my dog has knocked a front one last year and a back one last year which have heeled and never caused any other problems but this summertime he chased a rabbit by accident in the day and came back with the two middle front toes fat so i left him 6 week and the swelling had gone and they seemed to have heeled as the others had with a slight hard bump.a few days later i was walking him and a hare got up infront of me and he ran it over some quiet rough ground and when he came back one of the toes that had just heeled was
  14. had both the dogs ive had have all done as their told and retrieved the bitches ive had have been a pain in the arse and fussy and wont retrieve very well the dog i have now is like my shaddow the bitch is a funny thing wants nothing to do with me so i think dogs are better

  16. i hate the clicking noise the standard button makes and the fact the rubber end cap lasts 5 mins lol
  17. yes its silent i dont know how long it will last but i payed 2. for 2 of them and it took 2 mins to put on
  18. barb wire is the one of the worst things ever invented the farmers up here av all started putting breech wires up now ive had more tears lately this way as one day there not there and nxt time they are and the dog jumps as normal and lands on top of the second srand its shite
  19. ive just put a new momentry switch on my lamp as the originals are shite,it went sraight in the hole and works a treat.you can just flick it on enough to see things you are walking up on instead of having to click it fully on then off again.what does everyone else use when the buttons are broke?
  20. bull x are not a dog for running high numbers imo, they are for bigger stuff if you want a allrounder for rabbit hare and fox ,cross a bull grey with a dog that can run high numbers of rabbit and hare thats why i got a saluki greyx bull grey imo he is a good lamp dog and ive just got a pup out of him to a collie bull grey hope pup will be steadier and have a bit more brain
