  2. The last time I saw a mouth like that, there was a hook in it. you must have some huge ugly none native residents in you lochs up there pal.. Nobodys mentioned the wooden legged McCartney slut then.. Shocking..
  3. I'm far from anti shooting Lab.. ..i owned a scatter gun for year's but give it up as it just did not float my boat..and in all the year's of owning it i never shot one single hare..i have seen them shot though and a lot run on with shot gun's...i just dont like shooting them as they are a perfect piece of evolution..i can just about stomach seeing them cracked with a rimfire but again i personaly wont shoot one with even a rimmy.. im the same mind set. plus most of the farmers here like to see them about i only shoot them with the camera now Afew of your mates do we have a few on

  9. I dont think he has any hazel to coppice just ash? For roost (although it wont be a quick fix) plant thorne, oak etc. laurels also provide great cover but they take some time and you need to protect them from the rabbits. I would disagree about rhodies they offer good cover and are extremely easy to pull up if it gets out of control because the roots are very shallow. one of the drives on my estate is purely rhodies, fantastic cover and holding plant but try driving of shifting birds from it, even my terriers cant reach the bbastards let alone a spaniel! thorn or oak, think the man is aft
  10. But theres nobody here saying the lurcher is uesless, its use lads trying to push saying the lurcher is as good as a Lab/Spaniel at Gundog work when thats incorrect. I reckon a Lurcher couldn't go deep back into a wood to look for an injured bird without the owner worrying a deer pops up and its gets coursed across the field infront of a load of guns, i've yet to see any lurcher that works hand signals like a proper gundog( not seen it but wont dismiss it cant be done), i think a lurcher w hereould struggle wildfowling at freezing temps', i've yet to see a lurcher that bashes brambles aside li
  11. change of career if i dont find another keepering position very soon!!!!!

  12. yup, the light will bring up allsorts. box takes ages.. what about hazel, its free and easy to get hold of.
  13. Not for rats but for stoats then yes. Pile of guts underneath trap in a hole in the wall...............guarenteed.. a well set tunnel is the way on paths used by stoat, i find on fence lines and near to gate posts although i dont target the stoats no more as dont get hassle from them, if anything they do a bloody good job keeping the rat population down on my estate
  14. Never baited a fenn in my life and never seen the need to
  15. ive used a lurcher on a driven game shoot correct some raised eyes and muffled words were spoken You would hear some muffled words by any keeper round here if you turned up with a lurcher as i said earlier all went well until a munty got up  feeeeeeenton heard a few lads on the line shouting their so called fantastic gundogs name when deer or hare have popped up in front of them too I find it better just to whistle............... i cant whistle, well thats my excuse plus ive 4 labs with me at the same time, their names are You, Fecking, Barsteward, Cvnt.... even
