great pics bud....and your wife did an amazing job videoing them.... quite a while back we saw a pod of killer whales with its calf, we was on jetty though....still amazing to see.... last week a guy did a video like your wife`s out on a boat but it was of a big great white....

  3. you have more patience than me bud.....lol
  4. yes mate....I've got there cd in my truck, the only way to listen to it is cranked right up.....lol
  5. bit of a story..... i popped round my mates house for a bit of a catch up as we hadn`t seen each other for a couple three weeks....turns out his car had broken down with a split power steering hose, he`s been on the phone for a price for a new one which he told me was $300 bucks delivered....i said yeh right your kidding me... i said, no, you can get them much cheaper than that...ask your son to have a look online for a better price....there was a bit of a pause before he answered....he said the thing is, my son won`t help me with his cars....he thinks i should buy a new car every 3
  6. my brother has a newish vivaro van with low miles on it, when it`s running nice it`s good, but he`s had some sensors go on it already....not something i would be happy about on a low millage newish van....and it`s not cheap to put the sensors right....thing is, you tend to think that buying a newer van should last you a good few years, but, there is so much crap on new vehicles these day (sensors, computers, catalytic, etc etc..) that they go sooner rather than later.....i use to have the older Vauxhall movano vans which i never had problems with, very reliable, i use to run up to London every
  7. nice pic bud....years ago i had a funny encounter with a 3 wheeled robin reliant....i was driving down a narrow road when i saw a reliant coming towards me, well, it was coming quite fast for the width of the road, i thought he was going to slow down...but, no....i moved over up on the grass verge with just enough room for him to pass (i had no choice).....he shot past me (at the same speed)....but his rear wheel dropped into a rut on the side of the road.....well,...that was it...when i looked in my side mirror his car had flipped on it`s side...lol there was loads of sparks coming of his doo
  8. it seems, that a lot of us had some older cars ranging back from late 50`s through to the 90`s but we wished we still had them....why is that?.... is it because it was our first car...or, the freedom you had to go places...or, the value at todays prices....or, just for the memories....
  9. what was your very first car? when i pasted my driving test, my first car was a mk1 blue ford escort...(i think it was a 1971) i bought it from an auction, but i can`t remember how much i payed for it now.....what was your first one?
  10. Congratulations to you all bud....
  11. picking up a Garcia Mitchell 300 with 3 spare spools for a tenner is an amazing deal...you can go on a Garcia Mitchell web site an see what year it was made, i think there is a code number on the reel to find out.....im not to familiar with the Abu 33 but it looks in decent shape though...would that have been used for spinning? also it looks like a 70`s early 80`s.....
  12. some nice dace there bud your young lad looks pleased with his catch....thats about the size give or take when we use to catch then years ago....also on maggot.....
  13. I've only ever seen gudgeon in rivers...i didn't know they lived ok in ponds...probably as i have never caught any or fished for them in ponds....i use to make my own tanks years ago that i put fresh water fish in...it was good at first, but after a while the novelty wore off a bit....cleaning/treating/changing/amongst other things.....i think thats why they are expensive to set up but not a lot of value second hand....
  14. sounds like you have some nice older gear there bud....i come across a store that sold anything and everything second hand whilst on vancouver island....my kind of store i had to take a look, older rods but not my kind but i did spot an old garcia/mitchell 330 (the one with the flick up bail arm) on the shelf....he wanted $40 bucks for it, being english i knocked him down to $25...lol i stripped it down when i got back...new grease/oil and worked a treat...not quite as smooth as a new reel but a firm smooth but in your hand it felt better quality than a new one...i also picked up an old
  15. hi Mack, i do allsorts of fishing as it comes really....when in bc i had some nice steelheads/rainbows....on the pike at great slave lake in Yellowknife...here i catch the brook trout, flounder (dabs to you and me)....and august time we go for the stripped bass...we had some decent ones last year.....i found a good spot on the beach for them, no one goes there which suits me.... what about yourself...i expect when the salmon run your on them....
  16. i havent seen a gudgeon for years mate....thanks for that...do you have a freshwater fish tank....
  17. yes, im not a fan of crowded fishing...we use to find the quite out the way spot were no one had been...knocking down long grass and growth.....would have probably benefitted us using groundbait all them years ago but being younger we just grabbed our rod/bag and a tub of maggots and off we went.....its funny really...this dace/gudgeon topic came around after i was going through my fishing rods a while back and come across my old rod that i use to catch the dace/gudgeon on....that bought back some good memories....its a 10ft diawa float/ledger rod were you screwed in the swinging tip or a quiv
  18. sorry to hear that bud....
  19. nice write up bud, we use to catch quite a few dace years ago some were a decent size but never really big ones, i never knew they went up to a lb....we use to fish the river stour for dace/gudgeon either on the float or a maggot with a small split shot and let it drift down current....its good to hear your fishing for them these days.....
  20. years ago we use to catch dace and gudgeon from the river, do people see any these days or even fish for them?.....
  21. looks like you and the lads had a brilliant day out bud.....you cant beat fresh mackerel and bass like that....nice to see someone looking after there work force....good on ya bud.....
  22. same here bud.....
  23. I've got a few mates that have been married for a good number of years but have separate bank accounts.....his and her money from day one to the present day....it obviously works for them but i find it odd.....we've always had a joint account....i know that at the end of the day the bills/mortgage are paid the same from a joint/separate so it shouldn't really make any difference...but does it, separate or joint?
