  1. i was told out to 200yards they will hit harder than .223 is this true
  2. ill be using it for fox only . have 350 phesants out in a wood to which foxes are using as there takeaway. mate has a 22l/r and using high velocity rounds which the local foxes seem to know the range off her. and off course the local lampers have everything lamp shy out 2 130 yards. so after long think and phoning about i came across the .204 ruger i think its a varmint (slips away to get changed over). it came complete with scope 8-32x50cls sound moderator and bipod and its only 8 months old synithetic stock and stainless barrels for under £800 and the shop stocks the bullets so i got it wat
  3. ive just bought a .204 ruger and was wandering how use rate this rifle .what drop it has at wat distance etc etc
  4. how do use rate a 22 magnum for close fox control 70-130yds . and wat size of scope would use recommend for it thanks. happy hunting from n ireland
  5. because i couldn,t call my dog in never mind a fox lol
  6. too many city folk living in country don,t know our way off life hear a shot and think there under attack. a quick call to cops does no harm to tell them the area ur in is all they need to know.
  7. try red or ordinary lamp asa soon as u see eyes knock off give a call give a very quick lamp if coming keep calling and flash again the secret is to not put lamp on untill ready 2 shoot just quick flashes with lamp
  8. yes i agree but when you think they havent been eating well and havent had all they should from bitch this is why they are behind , wont take long to get them going , they have lamb neck stew tonight can i come round for some to lol the pups will be fine i find leaving food in 24/7 will help now at this early age will help
  9. back to ur basic training stop whistle if she takes off and dosent listen when u catch her scruff her and take her back to point u blew ur whistle shell soon catch on
  10. tell us this i might be stupid or something but if the keepers dogs have ftch's in the breeding who did they buy there first springers off ??????? the trial men. so wat u are getting are trialing dogs that dont thial just beat in the shoots. so the way i pick my springers is buy the best breeding u can afford if u view the parents and like the way they work the pups usually arent far off them. as for lasting all day the older more experienced the dog gets the longer it will last. u would'nt expect a year old dog to work all day ull destroy it so happy training and dont expect 2 much 2 soon
  11. a ess harder 2 train than a terrier who have u been chatting to
  12. no thanks mate im after a pup to train up, i may have found one but nothing definate yet do u do any bushing or ferreting with ur mates a moment
  13. is this ur first lab no ive got two and trained and sold a couple last season and rgretted it good lab hard to come by theres mine on my avatar why woul d you go for a cross breed its hard to beat a good lab a dummie launcher is not that necessary in training use ur dummie and get a mate 2 fire a shot i find it gets lab 2 watch around for dummie rather than ur hand i only use launcher on fully trained dogs for exercise atb
  14. she does the same when I bring her alone. It's head wrecking because has the making of been a good one. pic rabbit up and put it back in her mouth pull her a couple off steps take rabbit out off her mouth and give her plenty off praise do this a couple of weeks shell soon learn to retrieve again atb let me know if it works
  15. hi is there any beddie whippet breeders in n ireland look a cracking little dogwouldn't mind one for next year
  16. we use the old tap the roof twice one or flash the lamp twice works for us but thought of getting a small light in jeep with a button and when u see something hit button and driver will know.dont like making any noise even whispering yes the tap method works, but i think the intercom would be better for when the landy in moving and a bit of whispering would'nt be heared over the sound of the engine, and with the gun being at a better vantage to spot ruts and such. atb paul must invest in one to try it
  17. back to the tennis ball or dummie for that dog lad dont take her out untill shes 100% on recall again they will be plenty off time for lamping. did u try walking away and not taking her on it works on some dogs .
  18. shooting a fox in the back end running away ur only asking for trouble been shooting foxes iout off cover for years first thing we tell newcomers if not side on don't shoot the many foxes that get away with a away shot or head on shot would suprise u. put it down to experience but u should go back with a terrier or lurcher and have a look for it just in case. atb for restof season and geturself a dog used to gun its worth its weight in gold for ur situation.
  19. i know u hit it but why chance shot at that distance could u not call it in a bit so u know u will kill it cleanly instead off wondering if u hit it or not.do we not owe it 2 our quarry if were going 2 shoot them make sure and not let them suffer with a injury. to many people trying 2 blacken our names . this one works for me if there's any doubt at all distance or quarry leave it for another nite and u won't go wrong all the best for the rest of season
  20. we use the old tap the roof twice one or flash the lamp twice works for us but thought of getting a small light in jeep with a button and when u see something hit button and driver will know.dont like making any noise even whispering
  21. nice land rover mate saves the scratched roof . i had a x trail was good wagon for lamp massive sunroof when front seat was put back shooter could stand on floor and shoot out it great for contact if driver gets a fox on beam u usually get a punch on the nuts to let u know

  23. what kind of ess u using there a flushing dog personally i think u would be better with a good pointer bred dog give ur bird a chance terriers a bit harder 2 hold back . i have a russell flushing and retrieving but very hard to hold back
