potatos arent a good idea for dogs too much starch in them a better diet would be green veg and meat or rice,,pasta and meat

good advice sighthound and mars feeding in the van will help if the dog likes its grub but some dogs arent bothered with treats an turn their noses up. putting it on the lead and walking it to the van might work better.

popular sire syndrome is the name your looking for. its something that needs to be discussed cos over use of certain dogs ftch or no ftch if they have under lying problems can only be bad for the breed.
