  2. Yes 8 to 12 weeks most at 8 weeks. the pup learns some vital lessons from mum in the first 8 weeks. And research has shown that a pup who leaves its mum before this age can suffer from behavior problems and be harder to train.
  3. thanks Ferret1 interesting stuff
  4. don't worry , I would not get any animal an less I new the ins and outs of caring for it. and I dont have a clue about Ferrets, so exspect some strange questions.

  6. just out of curiosity, if you dont dig a ferret out , how long will it stay down a hole? have never had a ferret i am thinking of getting one to put down holes to get rabbits out for the dog . cant you just keep it on a long line?
  7. BW , to big and the black fork covers can come off. take the arm support off and the covers and its a good shoot but not the best, grips not that comfy ether . I think it just the tubing that makes it good, but you could take that off and use it on a smaller one.
  8. seen a white one with a brown patch on it.
  9. thanks for the link Brian I think hunting rabbits with dogs on any land with public right of way, should be legal, even without the landowners permission. As long as the dogs don't upset livestock or cores damage .
  10. can ypu put the link up to that? i am crap at finding stuff on that player
  11. Quote(I just hold them by the back legs and chop them hard on back of the neck works every time' ) yes that's what I do. It seems to work very quick.
  12. Glad you had a good time. I Rabbit with an Elkhound in Harness , takes a bit of explaining to people who have never hunted with this breed. Any dog can hunt, and if you have a breed that was bred to hunt its great to see it working. Most people on here get a dog to go hunting . but some, like me hunt because of the breed of dog we have. Lets say its , not what my dog can do for me, but what I can do for my dog. but at the end of the day we all enjoy it.
  13. lol. I't dont bother me killing it. I just feel pity that it only a wee thing. plus not much for the pot. I like to kill quick so hate it when it don't work.
  14. Thanks guys. hate it when They don't die quick, I a bit soft when it comes to the young uns, though a smack to back of head works every time
  15. . My dog has caught 2 very young rabbits ,one last week and one tonight. I neck it by holding the head and pulling the back legs. But on the younger rabbits it's not working. I did it on the one tonight and herd the crack, but the little thing got up and tried to run. So I gave it a good hit on the back of head which did the trick. But same thing happened to the one last week?. Is it because they are young. Or am I fuk n it up ? works fine on the bigger ones

  18. I give as much as he can eat , but two handfuls of dry with a bit of meat is good. if you have small hands (not Adult), then 3 handfuls.
  19. The best way to toilet train a pup is to take him outside as often as you can for a pee. You will find he will need to go, strait after food, as soon as he wakes from a nap and after playing. Take him out at theses times and stay with him. So you can tell him how good he is for peeping outside. I use a word like, go pee pee, every time, so the pup learns to go on command. I never punish a pup for going in the house, but if I catch one in the act I just pick it up and run outside . The more your pup pees outside the more he will want to pee outside as he will soon see this as his toilet. So ta
  20. I think he means both the parents are already crossed. For a young pup feed 4 times a day. He will only have a small tum , and only digest small amounts of food at a time, but being young will need food often. 4 times is good, don't feed after 7pm if you want to help him stay clean in the night. Though at 8 weeks he will need a wee every 2 or 3 hours till his bladder is bigger. Dry food is fine , you can make it soft if you need to by leaving it to soak in warm water .

that's was very brave of her. Its not always a good idea to confront a burgll, could have had a knife. but well done hun, just be carefull
  22. I have found that if you keep the pup on a long lead for a week or two and call him often using the lead to bring him to you as soon as you say come ,will work fine . Also try the hide and seek game, take him to a safe place and as soon as he's not looking at you, hide. Let him worry a bit, then reappear and say nothing to him as though nothing has happened. If you do this a lot, he will start to keep an eye on you, in case you disappear . Always looking over his shoulder to make shore you are still there. Helps to stop a pup running off.
