  1. Thanks for all the advice guys, I went to the vet on Friday and was given metacam for the weekend to see if it helped, it hasn't so we're going back tomorrow. My vet is great, but not a running dog specialist, does anyone know if there are any in the Fife area please? Thanks
  2. Two days ago Fly dog went slightly lame after a hard run, then seemed fine after a few minutes. Same again yesterday, when I noticed her toe is swollen. She's sound except for when she works hard. There are no marks, lumps, foreign bodies or anything that I can see. It is slightly tender to squeeze but the joint doesn't seem painful when flexed. Any ideas?
  3. Aural haematoma needs to be drained and then stitched a certain way to stop it filling back up til it heals, otherwise the dog will end up with a "cauliflower ear". Not an uncommon injury in dogs
  4. Bloody right it was wet! Phone didn't want to work the next day
  5. Whippet classes, woohoo! Are the children's classes only for terriers Del?
  6. Speak for yourself bud lol. See you at Fife show this year?! Yep, we will be there.... Wont make this one as im on a course with work that weekend... (had to be this weekend didnt it!!!)..... See you at the fife show Shame, I've got a fair booked that day but I'm going to try to wiggle out of it. Suppose I better get round to getting the trophy engraved so if you win it you can look at our name on it for a year lol
  7. When is it back on, does anyone know? My dogs haven't had a run since Selkirk last year
  8. honest vet by the sounds of it ......most would say there in pain and we have to do something........ Yeah, I've been with my vet for 20 years and I think we have a fairly good relationship. They know me well enough to trust me to replace dressings etc and get in touch if there's a problem, and they've stapled both my dogs without sedation, which is unusual for a vet. The jokes fairly fly about the hysterical whippet being stapled together every time we go there! Even though I've moved house and there are closer vets I've stuck with them, like you say, most would insist on removal and cha
  9. My lurcher has lost a fair chunk from one of her canines, you can just see the root. I asked the vet about it the day it happened, he said my choices were root canal treatment (can't be done at a regular vet, has to be a specialist) which would cost about a grand, remove the tooth under anaesthetic, or leave it and keep an eye on it. If the tooth or gum became discoloured or she showed signs of pain then the tooth was rotten and would have to be removed. I opted for the last one. That was 2 years ago and the tooth is fine, doesn't bother her eating bones etc. I suppose it's luck of the draw w
  10. You are right, but I spoke to Community Wildlife Officer about this when the law first changed and he said the court would have to prove that you intended for your dog to hunt squirrels. There are loads where I walk the dogs
  11. Haven't heard anything, but posted on my fb page as we are close by. Hope you find her.
  12. Ya thats about it really (Apart from the equal bit ) At the end of the day, Most must be happy cause your with them, And truth be told NO OTHER woman would put up with my shit, And for that you gotta love the old hag..!! Yes we are equal.. thats like saying you fella's can go out lamping with a dog and I cant?? "Anything you can do, I can do better. I can do anything Better than you. No, you can't. Yes, I can. No, you can't. Yes, I can. No, you can't. Yes, I can, Yes, I can!"" can you park a car in a full car park without putting a dent in it? Yes I can
  13. Ok, how about a tale from the other side of the fence. Say, a woman with a small, sick baby who nearly died at birth, but she has to go out to work because he can barely keep a job, and anyway, he's lost his driving license. Whether he is working or not all his money is spent in the pub, plus the money he takes from her purse. He never gets up during the night with the baby, he's too busy chatting to women online. When she finally gets rid of him (he runs off with his mates wife) she finds out that the only bill he was supposed to pay, council tax, was never paid, and she is now over 3
  14. agree with moo and pocket rocket. But what makes a show for me is the people attending, if you get a good laugh and don't take yourself too seriously then its a good day. I've entered my lurcher in gundog scurries before, just for a laugh. She got the worst time of the day once for acting like she was on a racetrack, but everyone got.a laugh and it was all good. People being rude about other folks dogs (or children) just spoils it for everyone. Both kirkcaldy and selkirk were excellent this year. I'm intrigued by the idea of jumping competitions. More stuff for kids is always a hit o
  15. It probably was her, she's perfect the rest of the time, never pulls on the lead or carries on at all, but if there's racing on, oh boy! She just wants to be in every race. She's dead keen. If you knew my son though, you'd know he wasn't upset, apart from when the ring steward spoke to him, she embarrassed him without meaning to.
  16. she was, yes. They both were.
  17. Fly's laughing because her new bed is sooo comfy!
