  1. what can you do mate thats what we keep them for to run and run r.i.p. scooby.
  2. i should imagine that most people have their own ideas about what they want in a dog myself i dont like bull crosses however!!! its not all to do with what is the dogs breeding whever its poodle or bull i rate very highly the training put into these dogs the hours teaching them whats right whats wrong bringing the dog on for when it is ready for its first real days work there is no denying that in the right hands with the right dog including bull crosses then its all systems go and as already said by me and others ie nite vision each to their own my dog is whippet/beddie/greyhound and wheato

good luck with the bitch mate and all future endeavours as far as i am concerned with working dogs and i have worked with them for 28 yrs there are always good dogs however gems only come along once in a lifetime so enjoy them while you have them because before you know it they are gone it doesnt matter what anyone says its what you know and whats in your heart that counts good on yer.
  10. at 8 mths old he should be having a little look at what is about,do you have other dogs to take him out with or do you go on your own its easier to train a pup if they go out with other dogs that work obviously it is still hard work but not as much the dog might grow a bit more yet and fill out a bit some dogs dont stop till about 16-18 months but this is generally in bulk not in height
  11. i do virtually the same were i live we have a massive park with woodland the dogs are out excercising 5- times a wk but they do a lot of running together aswell ,as working all the cover and in general mooching they normally get a few runs on squirrells this gets the dogs very sharp there is also a stream for them to mess in and get a drink all in all its a good little way to get all the dogs fit.
  12. sounds good mate hope all have a good day the weather is fine and you raise plenty of money
  13. welcome hope you enjoy it here
  14. not bad mate at all and once the bitch gets fitter then you really will have some fun and as said you make do with what you have.
  15. my cousin has had three lurchers off hancock over the years two off them were the beardie type very able and i could not fault them, now then the other bitch who is now sadly dead of old age not bad for a dog that broke its leg when it was three yrs old(had it fixed by the waterloo cup vet very expensive) she was collie greyhound and made 23" was one of the best dogs i have seen in the last twenty five yrs working mainly bunnies night and day.however i must add that the amount of time he put in with these dogs was unbelievable so as said by others if you are willing to put a lot into a dog who
  16. out with the dogs on sun i know its a bit early but it was only to look over the land were we have permission and see what the rat population was like, anyway a good friend of mine asks what is the most unusual place you have found ratty because on sunday the dogs marked what i thought was the drive shaft or whatever on this trailer anyway sure enough there was a small hole near the top of it so we put the smoker on and sure enough a big buck rat bolted which the pup grabbed then dropped to get a better grip(bad move when you have a few terriers) so the border grabbed it, anyway here is a pic
  17. just some pics of the young dog messing about.
  18. russels can be very vocal, but so can patterdales depending if you do a lot of bushing with the spaniel and want a buddy to work alongside the spaniel if you want an allround game little dog then a patterdale isnt a bad choice, me myself i have my border terrier bushing with the lurchers she does well but she aint very vocal in saying that she is great on marking and disposing of rats and does well on bunnies for marking both would make ideal companions but the borders are more quiet and dont venture to far away.
  19. penny meadow whippets is that lancashire
  20. must admit this method is the best i have seen in over 25 yrs with a nylon lead just pulled through the collar as said above quicker than anything.
  21. hope she makes a full recovery mate its easily done what can you do though thats the nature of the beast.
