  1. Just about to mention the same thing.....donkeys getting blown tae f**k!! "Out of ammo, out of ammo!!".....well if you stopped pumping 20 rounds into each twat then you might save some, who was the gunner Stevie Wonder.......... They seemed to be quite high up when the camera would back off, maybe they had to use so many to do the job?
  2. That last hellfire(?) was something else. I thought they would have carried more 30mm ammo though. I wonder would a getting into stream and keeping still defeat the FLIR One of them would be a great job for the badger cull
  3. Only had the one night out with the new sling, seeing as the moon is now very bright I won't be bothering until it goes away again. But, first impressions are very good. Two hands now free, unclips really quickly to get it off my shoulder. I do need to make sure I am not tangling the small strap when slinging it again though or the rifle tends to flop about a lot, but that will just take a bit of practice, good buy I think.
  4. I don't honestly know where the Nikkon 440 ProStaff (Laser I think) falls on the quality scale. The reason I didn't like it was it had bad glass, I could see more with the naked eye at dawn or dusk. It was also bad under the lamp, I would pray when I'd see a fox that there'd be a visible tree or white rock or some other feature near the fox so I could range that, because I rarely could see the fox, or his eyes. It also had a LCD display, so if I was ranging in daylight or under the lamp, that was fine. Range at dawn/dusk without a lamp, how long is a piece of string, cos I sure couldn't read t
  5. Playing hide and seek with sheep, and losing...

  6. I can see a possible advantage in the Leica - being another pleb who hasn't used the Opticron (as I've said I do love their binos They really are very good ) A lot of people won't have heard of an Opticron RF, where as nearly everyone will have heard of Leica. If the OP was wanting to sell on a RF I think, sight unseen, the Leica would sell real fast compared to the Opticron which would have a lot of people going I've seen Leicas put up on forums and literally sold within 3 or 4 minutes after the ad was placed. I am actually quite surprised both Leicas I've seen up recently too
  7. and of course, they'd have to be alive! Snake food I think he meant. Yup, herself brought me in there to get something or other for her dogs and I had a wander around. I nearly fell over passing the freezer, dead rabbits says I, what're they for Then I saw the price of them, think it was about €11 I had a serious Only Fools and Horses moment, this time next year Rodders.................
  8. Wish I knew someone who'd buy rabbits, know a few places where a person would be tripping over them Asked in a pet shop one time but they wanted nearly as much certificates and paperwork as do my bloody sheep.
  9. While I prefer the .22lr for rabbits over the .17HMR, with a silencer the .17HMR has the advantage of having a "soft" sounding bullet impact compared to the audible thud of a .22lr round impact. Rabbits don't seem to realise their buddies are getting whacked right beside them, and with the silencer they've trouble pinpointing the shooters position. I've shot multiple rabbits in the same spot one after another with the HMR, I can't remember doing so with the .22lr. But the .22lr is cheaper to run, and quieter (and more fun IMO but that differs person to person) to everything else in the country
  10. Feck lamping in snow - with the dog especially Cheers, D. I tried it, absolute waste of time. Didn't even see one single set of fox tracks, just hares. Might as well have been daylight as bright as it was. I thought the feckers would have been hungry and come into the call, don't know where they piddled off to.
  11. There's also the possibility there's a camera watching the camera. Some cameras come with codes, so you'd have to know and input the code to have it work. Input the code wrong so many times and it has to go back to the factory. I'd leave well enough alone TBH. Anti's might be smelly and ugly, but not all of them are stupid.
  12. Yup, I mean I've only an hour left, be pretty stupid to be all regretful and depressed about it
  13. Have had quite enough of snow the past few years, not looking for any more so ye can keep it all for yerselves thanks very much
  14. Don't know, you can buy scopes that will do a lot of work for you if you pick the right one and learn how to use it (I did and no I haven't lol) I would buy the one for sale TBH, the older 800 meter box like models go for £200, it's a good deal If you don't like you'll easily get the same money back.
  15. High mag will cause that problem but it's more likely that it's the eye relief which your mate will sensibly have set to suit himself. When you get your rifle find the lowest mounts you can get away with, once the scope isn't touching the barrel you're good to go. Then you'll need to think about what position you'll be shooting the rifle from the most. I shoot prone so I lay down with the rifle, get comfortable and having the scope in the mounts but not tightened I will play moving the scope forward or back a little at a time. There are guides online how to do it, if you can't find any
  16. Used to be a man from Westport I think by the name McGreal, I had a lot of back problems when I was younger. He came down this way three or four times and had this greasy stuff he'd rub on my back (stop the giggling down the back of class). I half think it was some sort of horse linament, it would burn like a fcuker (and I mean serious, serious heat) for hours, but it always helped. He visited a few people around here from fishermen, to farmers, to roof thatchers, seemed to do the trick. Might be someone like that somewhere near you, get on the jungle telephone and ask around
  17. Hi-ho, hi-ho, tis off to the hills I go...

  18. Must be one of the mods tampering with my post (Specsavers 0 - 1 gamerooster) I like the look of this: http://www.ginnellfi...vfxl/index.html I alos think this could be a nifty device for the odd bale of hay : http://www.ginnellfi...-rak/index.html
  19. I'm not keen on putting the dog into the boot because it's a saloon type car, not hatchback or estate, with the rear seats not folding forward the dog wouldn't have any ventilation. I (I don't really need to leave this line here, I'm only doing it because I can!) don't know what the situation is regarding exhaust fumes or other issues like that. I also don't want him ruining the boot when there's an alternative method of transport available. I've grown quite fond of him so I'd prefer not to shoot, drag, or gas him to death A towbar mountable dog box which I can adapt to mount
  20. Jigsaw is busy looking for that 55 gallon oil drum dog carrier pic to post up
  21. Unbraked roller blades would be just asking for a fender bender.
  22. Get someone to jazz them up a bit with a zip or some type of fastening and hawk them on Ebay as "out of service rampant rabbit pouches" You'll make a fortune (If you can find a rabbit with a f*****g skin big as a bin liner )
  23. Tried that, but the computer went haywire dropping my MPG way down, and the smoke coming off his paws was obscuring my rear view so I thought it unsafe.
  24. Sheep trailer tends to be full when we're moving them so I'd not be keen on cutting down space for them. I was looking in the €200 - €400 price range. Am no expert on what to look for but they seem a simple enough affair to me. Would be looking for one in decent condition, good ventilation, LIGHTS (working preferably ), safety chain, good hitch and tyres with a decent bit of thread and not unevenly worn. Wouldn't be keen on anything rusty, or wooden. If it's decent and well enough made you'll always be able to sell it on again handy enough if you decide it doesn't suit you.
