  1. I like it, but I like that period in history anyway. Bit of lawlessness and open spaces I forgot about Homeland which is another one I watch, and an Irish series that's restarting tonight Love/Hate I couldn't get hooked on Boardwalk Empire and I gave it a good chance, though I saw an episode last week and it looked much improved.
  2. Good stuff, as long as you remember to keep turning it off that way it should keep remembering (may need a reminder after a battery change though).
  3. Thanks for that, I have one of those callers - somewhere Couldnt get on with it, must try again.
  4. There was no recession needed for sheep rustling, it's been going on since man started keeping them.
  5. Same as that, heat it after use to dry out moisture, spray WD40 down it, roll it around to coat the insides, gun oil on the outside then into a sock for storage. No problems so far.
  6. The rotten turncoat b*****ds, ban them all ! ('cept me)............
  7. It may have a memory. Try selecting the light level you want to use, when you're switching it off hold the clicky button down for say 10 seconds (I'm being very conservative, 5 would probably do), then try turning it on as normal again and see does it "remember" that light level.
  8. DON'T !! Buy good PROTECTED batteries, don't buy any battery that rates itself as having a capacity above 3100 mah either. Batteries are more of a minefield than the flashlights. XTAR are a good brand.
  9. And I'd have no problem with that. When the English rugby team came to Croke Park, scene of a genuine massacre by British forces, there was respect shown for the Anthem. What I was saying is that the barracking and judging that goes on regarding peoples personal choices is wrong, it dirties the memory of people who are being remembered IMO. The day isn't about the people doing the remembering, it's about those who are to be remembered.
  10. he's Irish plays for a british team And???? Happy enough to take a fat wage home but not wear a poppy on his shirt like the rest of the players up and down the country. f**k HIM. does he not work for his wage? why the f**k should he not be happy about taking it? just because he plays in england, doesn't mean he has to give a f**k about anything british. Plenty of brave Irishmen have died fighting alongside our lads over the years, those using the wearing of a poppy to highlight their political agendas should remember that it's only a way of showing that the
  11. I said it long before, once the dirty work is done, you won't find a politician to undo it.
  12. I've used Federal Vshok in my .223, there's no doubt but they're quality made factory fodder Expensive, but sure if you're like me and only shooting 40-50 foxes a year what's a couple of boxes over twelve months
  13. Yes, the ground around here is nothing if not interesting, in the sense of the old Chinese curse "May you live in interesting times." I remember a lad from Meath walking our "quaking bog" one night looking for a fox that didn't get hit, he came back in off it a changed man I think he found religion out there
  14. I've had cars scratched and wing mirrors broken, so egging yer getting away lightly. But I've a long, long memory and all good things come to those who wait
  15. I was walking through one part of a valley the last night and it reminded me of the sea shore where you get rounded rocks from the wave action. There used to be landslides up there years ago, place got destroyed, all that's left now in places is a rocky shoreline!
  16. I meant to say check out the blog in my sig for more regular updates.
  17. Snap, the tighter you focus it, the brighter the visible dot is in your scope. But then again the tighter your focus it, the smaller the visible circle in your scope becomes, and that's why it doesn't suit me. I have read a lot of people absolutely raving about them, but when it doesn't suit my ground well it's no use to me. A lot of the places I shoot are just too cluttered with humps and hollows, furze, walls, boulders, etc. It would be too hard for me to re-find a fox I think. So I didn't do any further testing with it as I don't want to educate any foxes with a lot of fúckacting. However,
  18. I did leave it out, on purpose, as I wasn't taking a swipe at you Scot. I was making the point how commerating soldiers who have fallen in past wars has become something to beat other people over the head with. That's neither right or proper. I think it's quite shameful actually, I don't hear of anyone over here coming out with the same comments over the Easter Lily, unless it's the odd hardcore dissident republican who no one takes much notice of anyway.
  19. No reason why he should, he's Irish. There was a piece on radio here about RD a few days ago. I can't remember it all but there was a lady on it from the... I won't get the name right, the something legion? British legion probably? Well the Irish branch of that anyway. They got on to talking about people on UK TV being pressganged into wearing the poppy regardless of their views or nationality. Got to agree with Undi, it's ridiculous behaviour by some giving out about people not wearing it. People are free to make up their own minds what they wish to wear or not.
  20. Thanks Deker, took the night off last night and I'm going to pay for it, rain forecast tonight and doesn't look good for tomorrow either!
  21. The problem with falling asleep at 7pm and waking at 11pm is that I get to listen to the rain at 5.35am

Nope! Committed fair weather lamper here, at least until lambing time, then I'm out in what ever shite is being thrown at me

  22. Anyone else watch Hell on Wheels? Seeing as I never bothered to buy a Saorview box to get digital TV here I've no TV signal now. I've discovered that HoW is the only programme I was bothered to actually remember watching! Get to see it now on RTE player so I've not missed any. We're in the first series here, not sure what episode. I think it's pretty good myself!
  23. Jebus, they'll have internet next
