i think castration in a bitch would not reduce testosterone ( maybe oestrogen) in a dog it may. does anybody work a castrated dog?( after all vets reccomend castration in over zealous and aggressive dogs. just a thought??

i seem to remember reading that the trials being carried out on swiss soil were affected by the ban( and so held in germany).and that the import of vizsla was problematic/ not possible. and so presume that it is a total ban.(otherwise you can take a dog on holiday and by coincidence sell it while there). i would be willing to check on the website www.wildundhund.de ( german dog and gun) for the article if needs be. so much for a united europe i say!!!! customs out of the uk is no problem( have imported a dog to germany). on the way back you will need a chip, vaccination not older

as far as i know you will need the hunting licence to enter the dog in the first place mate. to join the hegering will not cost much ( 50 euro a year). quite right panna they have banned the import of docked dogs, they are not even allowed to buy a dog which is docked.

thanks for the feedback lads. i would be interested to know whether it could have any effect on the testosterone production ( the wee fella will need quite alot of that going about his terrier buisness) it is possible to check even as a layman, just feel the scrotum and there should be a pea sized.. well ball. ( bigger dog bigger pea ) and i DID check, just thought that only one was there at the moment, and that he had a few weeks untill they SHOULD be dropped. was surprised to hear from the vet today that 8 weeks is the time. anyone else had this type of thing? at what age do the

i agree with what was said( for all its worth!) go back to basics and start training again, there must be a fault somwhere along the line. it can be bloody frustrating bud, but keep your cool and keep it playfull. you may want to try a long lead( 20- 30 yards) to start recall training, that way she will not "win" by going off chasing cats and having fun. you have controll. start short and work up to the end of the lead. after that leave the lead trail( she still feels you have controll) untill she has become better, then shorten the lead again untill no longer needed. hope it help

vets cashing in on dog owners
waidmann replied to hunter cammo's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
depending on whether the tail was broken/dislocated? i would say as naive as i am that a vet would not recommend an op if not essential. though i do hear of alot of castration freindly vets! ( dogs/cats and other small animals). cheers. -
hi all, i have always thought that testicular migration was done with around 12 - 14 weeks. the vet told me this morning it should be finnished( both in the scrotum) at eight weeks. any experiances welcome. p.s the pup has the prob not me.

the alpha role should be taken on by all members of the family soonest! some methods of dog training are archaic thats true, some ideas on canine pschycology outdated also true. the dog may or may not feel threatend by your presence at feeding time, but must respect YOUR authority( this should transfer to all members of the family) and cannot be questioned. we seem fixed upon showing the dog we are in the alpha role by removing food,WHY? consequence shows authority in all stages of a dogs life( see the response of alpha male/female wolf when approached while feeding!) example: the dog w

i know a farmer in germany who kept two in an old corn attic, fed them on roadkill and dry dog food( even wormed them). after a couple of years he decided to let them go. around 18 months later i came onto the farm around two in the morning and in the yard was a fox.she ran up the side of the dog kennel( the best foxing teckel i've ever known!) who never made a sound allthough he was out to greet me! over the roof and into the corn attic! the next day i took a look at the attic and no sighn of the fox, as the door was open i went through to the straw barn and up on top was the vixen. as fa
