  1. Personaly I would of listed gameness, inteligence, and a good nose above anything else. i agree but that should have already been done for you over the years of good breeding ,just chucking worker over worker brings bad traits in unless the workers have a good long line behind them then it shouldnt be a problem . Thats basically what i said in my other post mate.
  2. Never bred any pups myself not saying I never will, but not for the forseeable future, and Im certainly no expert on the subject, breeding consistently good workers in any working breed is something of a science in my opinion, knowing how far you can inbreed, linebreed and then when the need arises introduce a catalyst like an outcross is not left to chance by the ones that have achieved this. Just breeding worker to worker is not a garantee of success as Im sure many will know, it does however on the surface appear to be the simplest method to produce a worker. But putting all those genes into

  6. No your right Kriss it hasnt got anything to do with me, however you finally replied to something Ive posted about you, an if you back track over your last few replies to posts about beddyxwhippet, and other whippet x, you will see I had a few comments to make there as well. especially as you sold me a whippetxbeddy,so your previous comments had left me baffled. So yes I do know a little bit about you. Of course if Ive upset you enough for you to be getting all verbal on the forum we could always meet up in Killin and settle it on the cobbles, am old school lad an thats how we settle things

  8. Good read mate, and Im with you on the mrs side of things, she happy then my life with the dogs is a lot easier.
  9. Is that from the little rascals? They used a few different dogs on the show and used to draw that circle round his eye...lol, owned a few back in the day, and for me they where the only bull breed worth keeping.
  10. Patience mate, some dogs react differently to new things, I would suggest not losing the head with her tho, as it will only make her worse. You could try putting lead on and just let her walk with it trailing loose, once shes familiar with it then just take a hold of other end, little bit of time and patience sure she will be fine.

  16. lol. nah mate Im hardly gonna condemn an inexperienced dog thats never been to ground before for trying for a rabbit...seen a few other peoples experienced terriers that have made that mistake and have still made worthwhile workers for them. Where my foxing permission is there is no bunnies, Im more bothered by the lurcher giving voice in frustration cos he couldnt catch in the rough.(even tho they were unexpected runs) Dont want that to become a habit, so just gonna keep him on lead until hes had some easy slips/catches Ive heard its a hard habit to break once its started but I dont know bec
  17. Went for a walk with young lurcher and inexperienced terrier this morning, mrs had the car so got her to drop me off,she was in a hurry and I got out of car without locator/collar or mobile phone. Oh well never mind just have a little mooch about down nr the shore, start walking lurcher off lead, then decide to let terrier off , walking for about 5 mins across some rough fields, plenty scrub about and signs of rabbits. Terrier dissapears up ahead over a rise toward the beach, I follow, no sign of her, call a few times, then lurcher runs ahead and marks a spot, I take a look and see terrier
  18. Handy for what mate? these dogs couldnt catch a cold, the only time they could be used on a dig is at the end and that would be cruel, no good for setting down in the square, so I cant think what they handy for. Unless its for keeping dog thieves out your yard. Having said that they are fine looking animals but not for me...and I bet take some upkeep..
