I hope you paid by bank transfer and informed HMRC to make sure he is paying his fair share mate ?lol

Yeah noticed that this weekend, the grass situation is brutal isn’t it…..meanwhile in Ireland, I’ve got cows looking over the fence in envy because my lawnmower is waiting on belts to fix it ! lol

Ask one of the experts mate ! lol

Whatever you say. I won’t be having a season, I had to shoot my dog a couple of years after moving here because he was going up the wall because there was f**k all in the way of enough graft to stop him going potty ! I no longer hunt with dogs and haven’t for 10 years, I don’t even shoot anymore because there aren’t enough pheasants to make it ethical….i just feed the very few that I see now. I was lucky enough to get to step out with some really decent lads who had way better dogs than me and who, unlike me, had lived what they did and were way more knowledgable about this stuf

Whatever you say mate, you win, happy ?

Fair enough squire…..good for you.

There’s a section in the book “Of Dogs and Deer” about a day out a group of us had beating muntjac (and a couple of fallow) out of a wood. Fairly short hop from the block we were beating to another slim block where a few lads were positioned as ambush, one of the lads was running his little pack of mixed terrier/spaniel crosses through the wood, a few of us were blocking out the sides and about 4 lads all with very well worked dogs as ambush in the front. There was a sheep wire fence up one side which separated the field from a building site, these were lads who were bang at it with

Ok, first off in the other thread we wasn’t talking about bulldogs or terriers. I don’t know the first thing about bulldogs because I have no interest in them. Secondly, I take it you ain’t over in England or Scotland every week of the season so who are you to tell me what the comparison is ? I couldn’t give two fucks what your out doing, as long as you are enjoying yourself and enjoying your dogs good for you…..but it’s like this, you came crashing in trying to be smart about things you don’t believe because you wasn’t out in them places every week seeing it and had the ch

f**k it, go on then, I’ll give you the time of day for a second: Are you seriously suggesting that you can give a running dog the same amount of graft in the west of ireland as you can in England and Scotland save for say somewhere like the fells ?…….are you saying that you can put the same amount of tackle in front of them in a day or night on big open terrain like you can in England and Scotland ?……is that what you are telling me ? Are you telling me that you can drive out any random day or night of the week and see half a dozen big herds of fallow, or groups of Roe or Chinese

You know yourself mate, dogs miss, it just gos with the territory so to see them miss stuff that’s hard to catch in the daytime is no big deal imho As you say, there’s all sorts of factors at work.

f**k me ! Really ?!……..go and join the other gonk on the saluki thread !
-
Jmho but that video means nothing !……again, jmho, but daytime deer are a different ballgame altogether compared to night time. You just don’t understand how say a daytime Fallow can motor until you have seen it and run them……those things can go !

The best dog I ever saw was a deerhound blooded cross. Its mother was a heavily deerhound influenced dog and she had killed around 600 deer in her working life I think…..she was I believe (and my memory may be a bit off) put to Scout (or maybe Trigger ?) and that produced Tigger, the dog was just a machine in every single way.

My helper is not impressed having to work in this heat ! lol

Cant argue with that. Do you think it’s gone too far for a political solution ?…….i cant see how any political party is going to mend any of that over there ? I was just back this weekend and god forgive me, I couldn’t wait to get away again….its f***ing horrible. I was sat on the train back from Limehouse and honestly, if you didn’t know where you was you could have been in any third world country in the world mate. Everything is dirty, it’s either broken or ostentatious and vulgar, there’s absolute piss hole gaffs with £140,000 motors on the drive like when you watch those

Fair…..anyway, that's me done on this thread. It was nice while it lasted.

Let’s hope he has a better manner about him in person than how he has come across on this thread……

No point mate, the dude don’t want to have a conversation, he wants to have an argument. Just confine your chat to vaguely sensible lads, much nicer.
-
I didn’t read any of it as too serious mate, more said in jest than bravado….that was my take on it. I travelled the length and breadth of the country when I still lived there, had some fun, met some class lads and got to see some class animals in action….i think it’s just good to go and see nice lads who have decent stuff about them, it’s always going to be good. Nobody cares who has “the best”, there’s too many variables in lads circumstances, terrain they hunt, dogs they keep for it to all mean much…..just good to be out and if a lad has something tidy in his kennel you can only s

It’s just different mate, like it’s different hunting the big arable fields in the southern end of England or parts of Scotland to Fell hunting in the lakes. So, where I live you won’t be having any 100 rabbit nights like Tomo used to have in Yorkshire or you won’t go to places like I used to in North Essex and see 3 or 4 herds of 40 or 50 wild Fallow just grazing away, you won’t see 50 hares in the same field like a place we used to go on the Suffolk border. This time of year when they had done the cut where used to live you see 12 or 15 foxes on the cut field that night and that w

I could be wrong but I believe @chartpolski has decent enough experience around Deerhound types….if I wanted some info myself, I’d start there.
-
Not from me mate, I’m not responding to any of that shite anymore as I said. Some story’s just write themselves It’s been a tidy conversation amongst lads upto now, lads just chewing the fat, having a laugh and talking about a few mutts……been a long time since I seen anything worth engaging with in the lurcher section so it’s been an enjoyable read, I won’t be looking to f**k it all up.

They got bought out by Cemex years ago didnt they, they used to run lakes all over the southeast first as Leisure Sports Angling, then RMC angling and finally Cemex…..sold them all off about 15 years back. They had some of the best waters in the country

That’s fantastic mate, great stuff

I was going to comment about that, have you seen any of the “Hogs, dogs and quads” dvd’s mate ?……them lads rig for going hunting is out of this world ! I will try and find a picture
