A lurcher is the ultimate canine athlete yeah athlete so one that can't jump is as much use as a glass eye..If it don't or won't jump it would be culled were it in my kennels even if it could do 6/6 on the fens..Oh that's right a dog doesn't need to jump to run on the fens does it & after all that's the ultimate test of a dog isn't it? What a load of shite & for those who think it is take your blindfolds off & go travel the land oh but be prepared to lift your one trick pony over every obstacle you confront..Get yourselves to the gym & start pumping the iron coz you will need t

I'm definitely not keeping a pup,I've too many dogs as it is Jack, old Don has had his best days & Boots is still lame some two months after his latest injury, whether he will come back to full health is debatable & Fenn is also no spring chicken either but they will be here until the end as that's the way I am..I have the young dog Mario & although he's not blessed with brains lol, infact the few I know of from the litter are all thick b*****ds lol he should keep me going for what I do these days should Boots not make it into the firing line? As for the trackers I think they have a r

That's about the going rate is that, you won't find one much if any cheaper than that imo

Handy bit of kit & defo worth the money in my opinion
-
Yeah it just totally and utterly disorientates you,no landmarks or nothing..I was out last season with Darcy when the pea souper rolled in,we totally lost our bearings, infact we thought we were heading close to an airport as we could hear what we thought were aircraft the noise was even surreal..As we trudged on we eventually came to a small embankment & a f***ing Eddie Stobart lorry sailed past!! No airplanes at all lol, couldn't hear a car passing even at 20 yards!! Darcy walked 6 miles up the road dodging death on the narrow grass verge with vehicles having very little visibility to say

On here's quiet compared to Facebook ffs ..some of the c**ts on there wouldn't get one for ten grand,id rather cull them first,I've 35 requests for one yet I've only found 5 homes so far that im willing to let them go to,no wankers will be getting a look at them let alone getting one lol

You just know it haha..

Well the pups are a week old today, being honest I've not really mithered them, just let Fenn take care of them, just been to feed Fenn her last feed of the day & had a spy at the pups, honestly they look amazing!! I'm very happy with their progress, fat as butter & growing like weeds lol..Lads getting these I can guarantee will not be disappointed,we know they all won't make top class but with a bit of luck, good rearing & entered at the right time I'm sure there will be more good than poor in the litter.. Let's hope so anyway ?

Cheers lads,I did have a rucksack with plenty of grub in,a survival blanket, spare goretex jacket & trousers, gloves, couple of hats etc plus a knife lol as if I had to stay on the mountain until today & the frost/snow came in I'd of set the old cur on a wooly & skinned it without a second thought..& thanks for the heads up Ken matey,I will defo be buying one of those & today as all these electronic gadgets require batteries & if they go flat which they do especially in colder weather your f****d basically

Clear as a bell lower down the fell
-
Yeah 99% of the time im out on my own, often where there is no phone signal or anything,i actually fell when coming down a mountain a couple of months ago,i was like a pin ball machine bouncing from rock to rock, fortunately my rucksack got wedged in between some rocks which probably saved me some serious grief at the least,i initially thought id broken my leg such was the pain,no phone signal so talk about a long painful hobble of 7 miles to the car i was in agony & my lower leg had swollen to the size of my thigh lol..anyways we are still here for now & my original post was just to hig

Be like the blind leading the blind bud haha,if you ever fancy a wander just shout up matey,im always good for a trek up the hills although just at a snails pace lol
-
It's on the news almost daily about people getting into difficulty on the mountains/fells Flacko & most are far more experienced than myself,i thought i was retracing my steps pretty much but i was not just a little off track i was a good several miles off track!! That alone could of had me going anywhere & having me having to have spent the night on the hills, you just have to stop, clear your mind of irrational thoughts & try & keep calm, easier said than done i know.. Realistically you wont be a million miles from where you were last in good visibility but the loss of any sense

Weather starting to close in
-
Well had a wander out for a stress free hike yesterday morning with just Don & Ruby..I set off with the intention of just walking some 6 miles or so on the fells, weather was dry & the skies were clear so all was set fair ? ...Or so I thought!! As we headed higher up the fell the weather began to change, the rain started & although very fine was still a hindrance & the further up we climbed the wind strengthened but we were dressed appropriately so all was good but then low lying cloud, mist, fog call it what you will just came in within minutes & reduced visibility to no more

To my eye the bitch that did the 7 minute run on that video although showing bucket loads of staying power she was never really in control of her quarry only very very briefly, the hare dictated that run from the start..that shouts out to me she's quite a slow bitch & im not saying speed is everything but if you were wanting to run elsewhere in the country it sure would help,if she couldn't take control at barely any stage she is nothing more than a one trick pony,if it took her 7 minutes to end this on that land then she hasn't much of a chance elsewhere or certainly not to regularly amass

Two remaining bitch pups
-
Top two are the dog pups & bottom two are a couple of the bitches, the blacks are now looking like mini Boots lol..5 days old today
-
