After looking at the preloved forum etc this week and seeing many multi show and multi racing champ sire and dams pups getting sold for 600 plus? Can anyone explain why folks are putting this it sort of dispoints me seeing these advertisements to the innocent public whom believe they are getting true racing and show champ pups when really these so called sporting events are thrown together ( I personally have never seen a good sporting judge) to be honest they seem to pick ped whipp a well over weight dog rather than a fit one and the racing events is obviously won by the heaviest dog runni
I would try and get the old stuff out of the big kennels mind it probs be quite hard . Unfortunately I wouldn't phone Mr Brown after reading on here about him , nothing against him but no one appears to say they had been out with him or seen his dogs work for dogs that are so popular you'd of thought someone would of asked for a night out lamp ing with his stud dogs at least. ???? Your choice though hope you find the right one mate
They should be looking at fitness and confirmation before anything a lot/ judges (sporting judges) are horrendous these days although there is some good ones about , but as long as you enjoy it and your dog does that's the main thing and you meet some great folk too

Hi folks just finished reading the book " the sett" by Ralph faults , did anyone actually know this paul black ledge is there any truth in the book it was quite a read seemed a bit far fetched
The laguna strain have bred champions at all levels over the years a feat that has not been repeated and never will . The country man's weekly last week has a very good article on them and statistically wise you were knacked if you drew up against them .few have got them or even seen one but yet sell on there name even though they only have a certain per cent age of the blood Which I think is out of order myself .
,
astanley you hit it right on the head , wonder why the big kennels never thought that bigger heavyer whipps had more stamina and better for work years ago ,its simple they never and werent ........very interesting articles in the countrymans weekly the last couple of weeks on the pre ban coursing whippet ,, the whippet has changed a lot these days ................
Same here robadoo
I agree the smaller ones are what I like , just seen a lot of dinosaurs lately with the attitude that they are better for work , suppose diff folk like diff things I have a 21 lb and a 28 lb and my smaller one is more agile and faster acceleration ,keep the comments coming lads
interesting comments lads ,although the bigger and heavyier ie a 40lb dog running will be faster than a 20lb dog or should be ,im not really sure about the knocks thing as like i said a 40lb whippet will be travelling faster than a smaller one (which would make the impact greater it it had a knock) and the stamina thing i simply dont agree that bigger heavyer dogs (whippet wise) have more stamina thats a load of bllocks i think ....just my opinion though
hi chaps , often heard that a lot of folks like a bigger heavier whippet for work (as they are better apparently) im kind of confused as i think this is a lot of s... can any of you folks explain why they are better ?
kind regards
yes and no miles to people that are traveling miles and spending money on fuel then yes (they deserve a chance if they have really worked getting there dog in condition for the season) but in the bigger pic no as its just a fun day ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
it is known that a man of great knowledge (paul cork) is the judge of this show , i am pleased that he is the judge as he has great experience in the whippet , i just hope that the show is clean and myself (an many others) is not wanting to see a 24 inch 40 lb unfit, overweight dog (apparently these dogs are better for work lol...whippet wise) win just because it is bred off the back off (dogs off the earth dog running dog magazine stud section ,,) in august when most of the wrking folk is entering dogs (at that time of year they should be per cent fit) keep it clean paul mate ..do your stuff
give the dog at least 6 weeks rest then 2 weeks lead walk only ,keep the cut clean if you have a porta mag put it in twice a day for an hr on setting 2 good luck hope he makes a full recovery , which im sure he will with the right resting time and he shouldnt loose pace
