  1. thats the point im trying 2 make mate the bitch was well loved got the best off fod kept in a weather tight pen walked every day an hunted every chance we got last season it was her first nite back on the lamp after we had a nice bit of rain and the conditions were great.what would have been the point leaving her live if she was going 2 be in pain for the rest of her life hobbling around thats if she even kept the leg.it was a hard decision but the right one.
  2. Am very suprised an ex greyhound racing man has said this. How many of the track dogs get an x ray before they get put down? This is the point i was trying to make about pets and workers. If you have a worker then you make the decision on working abilities, if you have a pet then you let your heart rule your desicion. Either way it doesn't make you at fault... it would suprise you to know quiet a few mate.i have spent small fortunes on racers at vets.and yes i have also told vets to put dogs down cause in the vets opinion it would never race again.however you still need to get it check
  3. an exray for what 2 say yah theres just abit of skin holding the leg together.it was not just a break it was complete snap and her foot was twisted right round with her toes faceing her tail.its easy for u 2 sit there and say this and that but if u were there seen the pain the bitch was in her heart doing 90mph her leg in f*****g pieces it was the best thing 2 do by the dog.
  4. i find the russell a hard dog 2 beat when it comes 2 bushing.
  5. and if that's not deliberately trying to provoke an argument I don't know what is! Deliberately trying to provoke an argument? .....so you honestly think a vet can diagnose over the phone that a dog will never run again ? No I don't, but he said he already knew the outcome but just wanted confirmation, he wasn't just basing the decision on the phone call to the vet. When someone's had something like that happen and had to make the awful decision he had to make it's a bit of a shit thing to do for people to critisise, especially when he seems like one of the more genuine people on here
  6. i no that lad in the superman suit thats twisted out of his brain he lives next door 2 my pal. it woul take an irish man. get his autograph for me if you can lol ,did you see the end of the clip when he is gettin carted off lol stop man it still nearly makes me cry from laughter.i have 2 say it is classic.

  8. So on the basis of a phone diagnosis you put the dog down. In my experience vets always give worse case scenario.....but to put a dog down on the basis of a phone conversation was premature imo. Seen many a dog come back from broken legs despite the vet saying otherwise. was not over a phone diagnosisi pal new meself the dogs leg was no more good it was her front right leg broke at the ball joint and completley twisted her toes were faceing her tail.i just wanted it confirmed by a vet. thanks for all the kind words lads.
  9. never heard of it pal. Peoples dispensary for sick animals, they have it in Northern Ireland, you may be eligable for reduced veterinary treatment, not a dig at the situation, horrible thing to happen, seen it myself dont no 2 be honest. the bitch was loved i no that for sure.but she was a working dog and she would have never worked again.
  10. the bitch probaly hasnt matured as fast of thr dog just keep showing her on the sod. when u break trew on a couple of shallow digs have the bitch right there watching the other dog work and when shes ready shel let no just lift the other dog and drop her.like said before i wouldnt drop with another dog she will start 2 depend on abit of the backup.all the best with your pup for the comeing season pal.
  11. thanks lads afterwards i was thinking what if it was fixable but deeep down i no we done the right thing.just a shame 2 see a young dog showing good signs cut down like that at such an early age.
  12. was out last nite with a good pal of mine with his young collie cross bout 15 months old bitch was showing signs of being a gudden anyway first field she ran four caught 3 before we left the field i had 1 more scan an seen a squater i missed. sliped the bitch out she nearly got it out of its seat but she tumbeled and droped it after a hell of a course up and down the ditch the bitch was just geting out of range of the lamp when we heard the scream new straight away she was bad could see her holding her front right leg out could see were it broke at the ball joint and it was just dangling ther
  13. my pal has a working wheaton around 20 r 21tts just used as a drawing dog an he is a macheine.he is a c**t around the terriers thou.
  14. funny i thought the bull was added to the wheatons back in the 80s to add the fire to them, the bull dont need nothing added as hes as good as it gets fact.owned 4 wheatons back in the 80s all where rank.the wheaton cant compare to a bull never has never will imho aboot fooking time somecunt spoke some sense ahaha where talking crossed with grey not pures and i couldnt care if poodle was added in the 70s for there coat.the wheatons i see work will rag there foxs allover the place till its dead not just hold it and crunch it so yes they have more fire and r a very high strung dog.y
  15. have lost 2 lurchers in the past while lamping it happens bud i no its hard but at least she went doing what she loved.chin up bud.
  16. have seen a number of bullx work have only seen 2 wheatonx work reguraly if i had 2 chose a type for me no doubt it would be the wheaton a much better allround lurcher. one friend of mine owns both cross and he swears by the wheaton better on the turn faster less muscle mass but still strong good feet good coat good nose. and yes the wheatons 2 seem 2 pick foxs up and shake them like a doll rather then just hold and cruch like the bull think the wheaton adds that bit of fire in to them.
  17. dont mind bringing them ferreting at a young age but to get the best out of a whippet pup on the lamp id hold them till bout 12 months old they would catch rabbits alot younger then this on the lamp i just find they would be stronger mentaily at 12 months and wouldnt start 1 any younger.
  18. well mate in this day an age theres alot of people goining abroad for work and other people r traveiling miles a day for work and just dont have the time for there dogs anymore.i lost my job a couple of months back and had 2 rehome 2 of me dogs as i couldnt afford 2 look after them all the lads i sold the dogs 2 r well pleased with them and keep in touch with me about them.so it worked out well for both of us.like said before suss the person out if he sounds a genuine bloke ask for a trial of the dog if the dog suites you it saves u all the time rearing and traing it
  19. they are a fine example of whippet you have bud what lines are they from.
  20. pound for pound there the gamest little things that ul ever get with hearts alot bigger then there bodies have great nose/ prey drive// feet/ and clever good stamina 2. [NO TEXT TALK] who disagrees obviously never had the pleasure of owening and working 1 and just jump on the band waggon of clueless clowns that couldnt train a springer 2 retrive and shouldnt even own a dog.
