  1. If it's a job that comes up, and you've got to do it, why post about it ? The more you put it in the public eye, the more it seems normal, and less distasteful. Then people who know no better think, its ok everyone does it. OK its pest control, i get it, but no need to keep shouting from the rooftops.
  2. Did'nt reply last night cos i went to bed (ran out of cider, lol) Always interested to hear about terrier history, not interested if it involves slagging people though. Not saying that you would do that pal.
  3. Yes i know a lot about the original stuff he brought from Wales, and what happened to them, ive owned some of that bloodline, unfortunatly i cant tell the story, because i dont want to offend a mate, but far better dogs were produced by my mate than plummer, using the original dogs, San's litter brother Hellion to be precise. I would love to hear more about that, but if you cant say, then thats fair enough pal. Trust them to come from wales eh, the taffies breed some good stuff for sure. just read that back and it sounds like im taking the piss but im not

    RSPCA

Wise words Personaly i would have nothing to do with them.
  5. Thanks for all replies so far. The way i think of them is a bit of a gimmick breed, but never having come across one, i'm only going on what i read. I suppose the strain is bound to throw up the odd game one. Plummers original stock, that were in the books, looked nice sorts, anyone know where they came from originaly. (honestly lol)
  6. Fair point, but i wanted to know if there were any out there that are stayers to fox. i'll be honest, i've never seen one in the flesh, but i like the look of them, going on the pictures i've seen. (honestly)
  7. But you own plummers and they would do the job?
  8. There we go, good luck with your pup fieldsport.
  9. Would you like me to rename the thread "do any professional terrier men, who dig to foxes 3 days a week, use Plummer terriers" (honestly) Jeez mate, how many ways can i put it, you know what i mean.
  10. Nice looking bitches.....er, i mean bitch.
  11. When its a dogs primary role. (honestly)
  12. As we know, when lamping, if a dog gets in quick and rattles its rabbit, they (the rabbit) will quite often balk at the hedge and bounce back out into the field, its bloody frustrating when you've got fields full of game, and the dog starts dictating what he will or wont run. But you're right its a question of confidence, the 3 quarter cross i had, that stalked on the lamp only did it on rabbits. He could'nt catch rabbits, crap at it, and not too clever behind a hare, he was very useful on bigger stuff however, and a very game dog. imho the bull cross is just another fashion, lurchers d
  13. Come on, does anyone HONESTLY use them for regular digging ?
  14. IMHO lamps hav'nt advanced at all, in fact they've got worse, i still use my old 250,000cp niteowl, and find it more than adequate, unless your on 100 acres of arable, and want 500 yard slips. Handier shape for getting over fences etc as well.
  15. No disrespect pal, but is your old dad a werewolf ? ?
  16. I like em (collie x) they can be a nause though, i had one that got a bit too cute on lamping rabbits, if he thought they wer too near the hedge he'd start stalking in, "get on lad" stalk stalk " f*cking get on lad" stalk stalk. Done me head in. He was a good dog on bigger stuff though so i kept him just for that.
  17. Feck, wont let me get to the page.

    Weird

Sure a few people have had this happen: Out lamping, dog was bringing a rabbit to me and it was a real squeeler, a fox ran in so close i thought it was gonna try to take the rabbit off the dog. Dog spat the rabbit out and coursed the fox. Fox got away, meanwhile rabbit got up made the sign of the cross and toddled off.(i made the sign of the cross bit up)
  19. Would've thought old brock would've eaten them.
  20. Looks good dont he, i think hatton will be off the scene by the time this kid moves up to light welter. I like hatton but i dont think he was ever world class realy, very well managed, mayweather totaly outclassed him and i think paqiou will give him a hiding. P.S. i hope he makes me eat my words !

    Weird

one that springs to mind, i used to exercise my dogs on a big estate, and when we entered the ground we sometimes used to encounter a few grey squirrels in the first field, so i used to let a pup off the lead first to see if she could nab one, anyway one morning we went in as usual with the pup running loose, and as she ran on, blow me, but one of the squirrels turned and squared up to the dog, of course she killed it instantly, but why it tried to make a fight, when it could have got to the tree easily i'll never know.
