  1. I once drank with a travelling man who used say he put lit cigarettes up his salukis nostrils so they didn't hunt up when he came to run them. Not for one minute do I actually think he did this, but it was the usually beer tent bullshit that came out after a few babyshams. Trouble is, any kiddy or messer listening in could relay that kind of shite to others and some knobber would actually believe/do it. I've met the best of people through the dogs, but I've also met the worst. As Kane says, use your common sense and you won't go far wrong

    Avatars

He's got big boys wellies on :11:
  3. Is there such a thing as "attempted" man slaughter? Keep your dogs under control and your laughing mate
  4. You won't go far wrong with either of these, although the Danners have the edge. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...0012&id=0005212 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...0012&hasJS=true I'm not a fan of the Yank (or German) speed lace system as I think that the British issue kit is much better, but I can overlook that for these boots.
  5. Altamas for summer work (with a goretex sock if you're on the wetlands) Matterhorn, Danner or Lowas for proper work I've tried a pair of Cabela's own brand this last winter and they've been excellent.
  6. That Foxy is a hairy bugger I got all excited there when you said "working Staff" :11: I thought you meant stafford :11:
  7. Sorry Paul....Cupids taken the permission off me.
  8. Genius! :11: http://www.coogans-run.co.uk/paulcalf/index.php
  9. They pitched up looking like the bunch out of Predator :11:
  10. Right lads and lasses, I've got some permission up for grabs in the South East area. A few of you have been on parts of this ground before and it's a real nice part of the world. The deal is that it's a proper pest control gig, which is Saturday and Sunday mornings mainly, although you can do more if you choose with any evenings etc. I've had this land for three years and I've been nearly every weekend. The quarry is a lot of bird shooting (pigeon, corvids and canadas), a lot of foxes, rabbits and the odd rat. It's a commercial farm and as such you will need to interact with the public on
  11. I'd cross a dog which had attributes I liked to another dog with similar attributes. I couldn't care less about colour or "pure" breeds, but that's just me...I'm not a breeder or allied to any certain line/type
  12. Drive through Eldon Lane last week with my missus and she couldn't believe what she was seeing :11:
  13. Try NatureDiet or Forthglade Not exactly in a tin but similar in consistency.
  14. What are the attributes you like in the Jack Russell? Simply find another dog with those attributes and breed to it. A good example of a proper Russell will have very different characteristics to a Lakeland, Patterdale, Border etc in my opinion
  15. You shouldn't be feeding meat with a complete food fella. It's complete so you don't need anything else. I had a springer and it was on a par with my staffs for greediness. Do what Fletcher says.
  16. No idea if it's a Mk2 but I've used a TX200HC for years
  17. when I said too much breeding close up mate, I meant he was heavily in-bred not that he's been breeding the dog too much....should of explained myself better, sorry.
  18. Ben, They get their name because they were bred to spring game not cos they are bouncy I know another dog that chases shadows and he's mental. Too much breeding close up in his case I think. I know a lady who's very knowledgeable on gun dogs and she maintains that a good dose of show springer blood would do wonders to calm some of the hyper working ones down. Can't comment on that myself though.
  19. 10th looks suss to me
  20. I've got some with a bit of wild in them...got some young un's down from them on the go now if anyone wants one. Two whites, two poleys
  21. They have to have some border in there Jeff....Beardies don't carry the merle gene
  22. Always used the back of my hand for foxes. There's a thread on fox calls in reviews I think Buck.
  23. Must be some border in there too then?
