  2. They would of been better off in Japan. No mass immigration, over run with deer and a shortage of hunters (genuinely). Would of been rubbish for you when they were young and you missed em but imagine the visits and invites in years to come. I'm trying to convince my eldest to go when he leaves college. They are desperate for English teachers as well

  9. Afterwards we had a roast dinner in Rochdale masonic hall. A brilliant hall with some good beers on the bar. Also a fantastic museum area attached stuffed full of interesting things. The quality of workmanship in the masters chairs always blows me away. Also included is a photo of the masonic knights Templar regalia. The modern order of KT raises money and supports st John's eye hospital in the holy land. The St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem is a charitable foundation of the Venerable Order of St John, the oldest charity in the world. The Hospital is located in East Jer

  12. Last ones. The spiral staircase. I've been up quite a few of these in churches, all seem to curve to the left as you go up them, rather than to the right as you would expect. If they curve right an attacker must hold his sword in his left hand to fight his way up them while a defender can fight down with his right, hence all spiral staircases in castles have a right-handed curve...and almost all other staircases follow this tradition. In churches it seems to me they are always left-handed.... I don't know if it's a 'thing' or just chance in the ones I've visited. Also a photo of the
  13. Some carved vines with the words "am the vine, ye are the branches" The rest of the prayer is "He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit.” This is a prayer used in one of the masonic Christian side orders....might be holy royal arch. Buzz Aldrin said this prayer on the moon, even though it had been agreed that no religious elements would be part of the moon landing. Buzz was a freemason and a member of lodge of tranquility, a lodge made up of astronauts!
  14. It's unbelievable really. Roslyn chapel in Scotland has made a fortune since it's mention in Dan brown's book....and there's fck all there....one apprentices column and a bit of a story. Honestly we had a two hour tour of this church and the guide never stopped talking and pointing out symbols and hidden meanings. It's an absolute treasure trove.... Indeed we actually spotted a few hidden things that the guide didn't know about, hidden masonic symbols etc.
  15. The church has quite a lot of links to knights Templar. Indeed one of the modern KT orders recently used the church for some meeting. I was thinking how sad it was that the church is now surrounded by foreigners....then it occurred to me that the knights Templar would probably feel at home there....an island of Christianity surrounded by Muslim hordes ?
  16. The window in the royds private chapel attached to the church. I think the man sat down in the center one is supposed to represent Hiram abiff, architect of Solomons temple but it's actually Albert royds Face. His own architect is the face of the man stood next to him, who is supposed to represent Hiram king of tyre. The plans he is holding are, I think the plans to temple church in London. Lots of pointing in each window, all the points leading to masonic symbols. The two pillars in the bottom pic at the entrance to the private chapel are marked J and B. Again symbolic to masons r
  17. I've never really looked at stained glass before but this one blew me away. What we are, or were once capable of.
  18. A stain glass window dedicated to royal arch mariners and a view from the roof.
  19. Last post for now as I need to pick my lad up from boxing. The brass alter thing is now registered as a piece of listed public art and protected for the nation.
