  1. these were bred black to black for many years ..Why would it have to be crossed with a russell??Seen many first crosses and they should if both parents are (pure) in the sense not already crossed come black or red years ago thats the colours they produced..Nowadays if you put a pat to a russell you often get russell coloured pups..So it stands to reason both parents were of x bred stock Spot on Donny, black is and always should be the dominant colour, if you cross black over white you should get all black. Why is everybody always assuming Russel in it if a Pat shows white spots? Lo
  2. I agree as far as white SHOULD not be predominate in patterdales but there is bull blood in their lines and since that pup is out of tight breeding mother(black) to son(red), I believe that is why the white surfaced in that litter...And as far as your white trash comment goes only time will tell , you see I am not too worried about the color of that pup(as long as it hunts) it was a Xmas present for my son, who really enjoys HUNTING terriers...Dont really care if they are patterdales or not as long as they do what they are suppose to...
  3. So do you all discriminate against white patterdales also or just the chocolate ones ?
  4. If they are going to be breeding I'd say thats some pretty good advice...
  5. Workers come in all colors, does it really matter what color this guy is after?
  6. Thanks, yes nuttall, gould, and a splash of bull...
  7. Molie, Yes I would say that is a fairly average size coon for around here...It probably was around 20 lbs...Biggest Ive taken with terriers was 29 lbs , they do get larger than that though especially in the northern states... Alan, The little black one is a 7 month old female pup out of the red dog...She is about 12-13 lbs and the red male is around 18-19 lbs.. Thanks, Atb Jim
  8. Had some nice weather of late so the boy and I took the terriers out to the creek and ended up digging to Bruno on a coon... (edited to remove the contact photos)
  9. Hello delonpara, Great pictures and nice looking terriers! The terrain looks pretty rough where you are...Are you located anywhere near OSAN I spent a year over there back in 1995-1996 when I was enlisted in the USAF...My younger brother and family are stationed at Osan presently , think they have about a year left over there I know they are making the most of their stay and are really enjoying it...Anyway its a small world, thanks for sharing your hunt and pictures...Good hunting!
  10. Nice head on the choc. one...I say you should let them have a go, but be prepared for a unhappy missus when you bring them home beat up...It would also be a good idea to go out with someone who has some experience with digging to them (wish I would of)...Good luck with them...
  11. tough start...good luck with them...

  15. Got out yesterday with a friend who has a littermate to my chocolate gyp...We got a nice sized coon (20+lbs) in shallow dig along a creek line...Then did a little pest removal for a farmer who is having a problem with ground hogs in his feed lot... This is the littermate to my gyp @ 22 months...
  16. No worry, the dog will not be thinking about what kind of collar it is wearing when it engages it's quarry...I use both bark collars and locator collars and it doesnt effect my dogs hunt style in the least...
  17. Here is one I'm getting started...Had him on a few coons and possums...14 months old...
