  13. Stoats and weasels are part of the Mustelidae family, as are otters/badgers/martens/polecats/minks & black footed ferrets and of course our domesticated ferrets, even mongoose and meercats are related. (other species may also be included!) Point is, the dietary requirements of each species (although related) may be different. Many professionals agree that 'raw meat' diets for ferrets need supplementation. Considering the ferrets you have in your ownership now are 'domesticated' ferrets, in the sense that ferrets have been domesticated for around 2000 years now, they do not have a 'natu
  14. My take on this whole dry ferret food thing is this.. it coincided with the '' pet ferret '' scene Manufacturers of dry dog food saw an outlet mainly James well beloved in the early days .. they saw a niche in the market & filled it It was designed for pet owners simple as .. the same as all this paste & ferretone stuff .. its all to get people to buy it.. stick a pic of a ferret on anything & people who pet there ferrets will naturally buy it Couple that with the internet & ferrets appearing on tv primarily as a pet / companion animal rather than simply a worki

  19. it beats stopping in the house
  20. Strange as it may sound I've always found the opposite [eating less in summer]. I would've thought they'd have needed more during the winter when it's colder and they're working but it's not the case with mine. Can only put it down to the fact that with more daylight they become a lot more active whereas in the winter they seem to spend all their time sleeping. if there working all day every day they will need a fair amount of food to keep going as there busy burning up the fat .. but even if there not worked every day they still need more food as just keeping warm burns up energy &a
  21. I don't have food in the cage all the time because i feed meat.. there fed at the moment around the 10pm mark & i remove anything that's left the morning after.. they don't have access to dry food so they get there next feed at the same time roughly the following day have done this for years & have no issues what so ever with the ferrets
  22. And you know this because ... Cos i signed up for uni thinking it would be a great academic experiance only to realise about 30 min in that they were a bunch of posh, rich, c**ts, who hated me. So i just went fishing instead. I still don't buy that we have it tough now, lets face it the kids i see whos folks are on benefits etc, always have a mobile (new), x box, latest trainers. Some have always and will always have it tougher / easier than others, but now theres a security blanket to make it all better. I think many folks expectations of what is 'neccessity' have changed, most
