  1. thats what i wanted it for, just dont know which models are any good, i know some give very large dots at 30 yards so would be hard to precisely estimate the range. Ive found one that looks pretty decent for what i want, SMK LS-III Hi Power Laser, £50
  2. a village not too far from newark in the river witham. i love pike fishing, i like the roving aproach keep moving. i have only been a few times this season, because my spinnig rod has got a crack in the end eye which is freying the line and i havnt got round to getting it fixed.
  3. What does everyone think of red dot gun mounted lasers for lamping? Ive just got myself some lamping permission for rabbits and i dont want my shitty range estimation to stop me making a good dent in the population. I would only need it for shots out to 30 yards. Which lasers are worth the money and what sort of prices am i lookin at paying?
  4. funny you should say that, i had a rabbit cassarole last night and it was the best rabbit i have ever eaten Stevolad: im more a shooter but never pass up a chance to go ferreting, just love it, i think its the waiting and anticipation, its hard to beat
  5. I would love to see some one really test a greyhound with lurcher work, just to see what they are really capable of, I think most people get a greyhound primarily for breeding and just work them a bit therefore not really giving them the chance to prove what they are really capable of. If anyone out there does work a pure greyhound then please put up some pics of nights lamping or ferreting and bushing trips, give us your views. I dont expect big bags on the lamp but would imagine they would do fairly well ferreting given the chance. As i have said before i havnt any experience working
  6. It was good just to be out, all i have been able to do recently is go beating. I wish i could have my own ferrets but just cant committ to that yet, Hopefully i will be gettin in a few more ferretin trips soon.
  7. :11: , it was this country (England, Lincolnshire) in the summer, the season had only just started
  8. Thanks fellas wouldnt mind catching it again in about a months time when its put on a bit more weight
  9. Went out ferreting with a lad that i go beating with yesterday afternoon. We got a lift up to some permission of his after loading up 2 jills he was given and all the other ferreting paraphanalia. First warren we had 2 bolt reluctantly, they just kinda tangled them selves a bit but i was near by to grab em quick . We were using hemp nets which i have never had any experience using before, and to be honest i wasnt too keen on them, but they save sooooooo much time not having to untangle them all the time. Next warren was a smallish one with just a few bolt holes, we mangaed another r
  10. Thanks for the replys, lookin at it now it doesnt quite look 20 but it was very heavy, so i guess 20, :11:
  11. This was the first Pike i caught this season during the summer, I caught it on my 7 foot fox spinning rod with 8 lb line and a small pike plug (cant remember the name), so fairly light set up , but it gave the best fight i have ever had. When i first hooked her i dont think she even knew she was hooked, just cruised across the river and then all of a sudden WAM, she just took off with a huge splash of her tail and tore line off of the reel :11: Any way landed her after about 10 minutes of shear excitement (understand my biggest before that was only just a doubl
  12. In my experience it depends what type of shooting you are doing, for instance if you are lamping then you dont need a scope with a large light gathering objective lense becuase the lamp should provide all the light you need. However if you are shooting without the aid of a lamp in either low light conditions or silhoueting (spelling) then you will need a large objective lense to make the object as clear and defineable as possible.
  13. and keeps a healthy, sustainable rabbit population as well as a good cheap meat source for dogs, ferrets and of course us our selves.
  14. lovely dogs, dont know if its just me but i seem to be seeing more around now retired, which is good . just wondered what the rest of you think, are more people retiring greyhounds now than in the past?
  15. my signature says lincolnshire, as far as im aware the yorkshire lad's doesnt say nothing
  16. Ive made myself a load of cards thats a bit smaller than A5 just to advertise my free and humane pest control services to farmers, game keepers and landowners. On the card it basically says about myself, what i can control and have experience controling and the methods i use. It also says that i will happily give a demonstration of my ability and responsibilty and give any references needed. I dont know if this is the best way about it, but as soon as i get a free saturday im goin to go around a few local farms and see if i can get sum shooting permission, have a word [bANNED TEXT] the far

    Rats

If you planned it out well before hand and maybe had a few shooters scattered around working as a team, shooting baited up areas with air rifles and lamps, then i dnt see why shooting couldnt make a good dent in the popluation after a few nights shooting (but im no expert on big infestations like that). But ive gotta agree with simoman, i think a pack of ratters would be the best approach. See what the experienced terrier lads think.
  18. I'll be honest, it scares the f*****g shit out of me when you see what these animal rights people want to achieve and how organisations like the RSPCA have changed. The vast majority of people look at the RSPCA as a truely good organisation and would never question a word they say. You only have to look at the posters that the LACS produce to get legal snaring banned showing snared badgers (which is illegal anyway). But at least with all this bollocks the animal rights people are chucking at the public, there are plenty others who are showing the facts and what these so called animal right
  19. Just had a look for you, and there about £250 just for the gun but second hand would obviously be alot cheaper. But bear in mind you have to get charging gear as well and a scope, bag, pellets etc. My first P.C.P was BSA Spitfire with a basic 3-9x40 scope, webley pump and gun bag, all new and that came to £400. And that was starting at the cheapest end of the P.C.P market (but still a very decent setup).
  20. Looks must run in their family mate both very good lookin bitches. Iv'e looked at her breedin before but it dont mean much to me , my dad knows all about it better.
  21. Jessica's Neolle (meant to be jessica's noelle, but the trainer spelt it wrong when registering her ) and she races at Colwick Park Nottingham.
  22. Seeing as i have figured out how to post pics, i thought i would post a few of our racing greyhound. My dad and uncle have half share and the trainer has the other half, but she will be coming home to retire with my family when she's finished her racing career.
  23. AA S410 in .22 with a Hawke Varmint II 3-12x44 PA
  24. got a text this afternoon off of the lad who i am going with: "cant go ferretin mate, ive broke my toe" :11: :11: so ill have to let you know how we get on when his toe has healed
  25. Just had a quick look in the Air Gunner magazine and you are looking at: BSA Lightning BSA Supersport Webley Excocet Weihrauch HW95 all plus a standard sort of scope of course, something like a hawke 3-9x40. all around the £200 mark
