The way we dealt with the IRA? So give them a special government and put them in power then? Lol, fair comment. I was referring more to the combination of intelligemce gathering operations and direct military action taken. The Northern Ireland problem was far more complex than this. The British government weren't afraid to take direct action against identified players back then.

LOL a f***ing coursing argument. Jesus f***ing Mosses mother of Mohammed! I'd blanket bomb the fens to never have to listen to another coursing argument!

Completely different situation mate. The Unit that dealt with this situation were the French GIGN, one of the worlds premier counter terrorism units and up there with the likes of SAS CRW teams and Seal team 6 etc. None of those level of units f**k about with arrests. I could name a number of examples from the UK? The Rigby killing was dealt with by a regular armed police officer. Not the same at all mate. Surely there instructed to kill or wound though whoever is pulling the trigger? My understanding is that police simply train to incapacitate, centre of mass shots and arrest,

Yep, they were presented with an unwinnable mission. 'Only lethally engage the enemy if they present an immediate threat to life" (or words to that effect)........ What sort of BS is that. Thank f**k we didn't fight WWII like that. In an insurgency war the only effective tactic is to hunt and kill them at any and all opportunities. Let soldiers soldier, that's what they sign up for. I know you disagree with what Blackman did when he executed that insurgent, but I say that is exactly the approach that is needed. Allow NATO forces to hunt and exterminate the enemy in these insurgent hots

I guess that's one area at least we differ in our opinions of the situation. The entire population of the middle east are not our enemy, imo. Most are not colluding with this enemy and many that do are offered little choice. If I recall my history correctly the Jap military council were all for fighting to complete destruction such was the ideology of their culture. Samurai honour and all that. It was only the more modern thinking political leaders that finally gave up. I guess my point is, when faced with such an ideology, we have to be careful not to motivate the entire population of the

So who's gonna put a bullet in Max's mate at the petrol station or the chap that works down the hall from me (who I never had a clue was Muslim until he brought a cake in to celebrate the end of his fast) or the chap in the village I grew up in that ran the kids football team (again no idea Muslim until at a BBQ). I just can't and won't justify genocide mate so long as there is a sensible option of defence.

We don't actually, no-one does. The militants hide behind civilians, usually women and children, because they're basically cowards. We don't yet have missiles that pick out the guilty and leave the innocent The terrorists know this and use it to their advantage. There will be no end to this until we accept sufficient civilian casualties to drive the civilians into pointing the finger at the terrorists. Unfortunately that's going to be the only way, the civilians will have to choose between death from the allies bombs or give up the terrorists.. Of course, the do gooders in parliamen

Your average Syrian, Algerian, Iraqi, Arab, Persian/Iranian etc imo just want to live their lives much the same as the rest of us. Their culture is different to ours and it's not my place to pass judgement on that. I haven't the slightest problem with Islam or any religion, I have problems with certain actions brought about by interpretations of it though. And the inconvenient truth is that there are plenty of practicing Muslims who's moral compass points in the same direction as my own, so I find it very difficult to have a grievance with them all. Not to mention the fact that their are plent

Come on shroom, there's no need to be committing genocide or for any other emotional retaliatory response. There's plenty of innocent folks in the Middle East that we should have no grievance with and to kill them as 'collateral' I would find morally intolerable. A strong and aggressive military action should be taken, but lets not sacrifice our humanity. We have the capability to target the guilty and rid this world of them without having to commit genocide.
-
Nah, kill them imo. I'd make a martyr of every last one of them. Let them inspire more to their ways and kill them too. Our biggest problem is that we're not killing them, we're waiting for them to kill us and then killing them when we should be relentlessly hunting them in pre-emptive action. JMO

From what I'm reading, the media reckons they have the two terrorists and a hostage pinned down in some industrial buildings.... The French militaries GIGN are dealing with it. For those that don't know they're roughly the French equivalent of the SAS.
-
I believe they call it 'preemptive neutralisation' LOL. Our leaders call it murder though. We have the finest security services, intelligence services and counter terrorism forces in the world to date! FFS LET THEM GO TO WORK!
-
They're being hunted by the French police's premier counter terrorism unit, RAID. Read their history, most of their operations have ended with all terrorists dead. cheers will check them out ,only wondered if they'd want at least one alive for info, like who they are operating for ect? Maybe, but they already know, they're French-Algerian associated with Al-Qaeda. The same bunch of top chaps that did the gas facility in Algeria a while back, remember? As I have said already NATO forces should be systematically destroying any and all insurgency hotspots. As soon as one arises, deploy mil

UK security services and military forces exist to defend our sovereign territory, citizens and national interests... funded with the taxes of the citizens it's there for to protect. You don't have to serve in the military to have an opinion on national defence. Defence effects everyone, not just soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines.

What they're upset about is looking like blind ignorant idiots when addressed with the stark f***ing obvious! They have been singing the same BS song to us for so long I really do think they believe it! Along comes a politically savvy chap like Farage who speaks the inconvenient truth and they're all so confused that their world view they thought was so enlightening and modern has been proven bullocks they do what most people do when confronted with such a huge paradigm change, attack! f***ing..... idiots!
-
I've just read that in the 1940's "British authorities" used pig lard on suspected Islamic terrorism targets as part of their counter terrorism strategy! LOL No idea of any further details but made me smile anyway. LOL Back in the days when worrying about upsetting folks wasn't allowed to compromise effective defence policy!

Packing On Mules And Horses Across The Wilderness

Nice country. There's a freedom in the US that we just don't have here imo. -
I saw pictures of marines deployed to guard the streets of Paris yesterday. f***ing mental!
-
Shocking that......now a serious question. In this country.....If I saw that and I went to the gun cupboard....got the .222 out and blew a hole in they c**ts heads what do you think the outcome would be?? Nothing much I'd of thought. You can shoot a home intruder if that level of force is necessary for your defence. I can't see how that would differ? I can quite happily say that if I had the capability to save lives in that situation I would.

Don't be too quick to pull Churchill into this. He was quite an admirer of Islam.I get the impression his relationship with the religion was more complex than most people's through his own experiences.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/11314580/Sir-Winston-Churchill-s-family-feared-he-might-convert-to-Islam.html Of course, Churchill did not convert to Islam, and Dr Dockter concludes that his fascination was “largely predicated on Victorian notions, which heavily romanticised the nomadic lifestyle and honour culture of the Bedouin tribes”. Yep, largely but significantly also through fi
