I've seen some reasonable ones on ebay for around £. Not bad

Both have their advantages as they give mental stimulation too. Great when it's chucking down outside and you really can't face it. Wish I had one now - was wet and windy today

Good luck with him, hope he's ok for you. We have had so many injuries with ours but 'touch wood' nothing major!

There is loads of rabbits down at Berrow plus seagulls so the temptation fo a dog to give chase is quite high. I paniced a few years back when my Collie just legged it along the beach to BOS I had the boy with me who was very young at the time and i even phoned the MRS to say i had lost the dog. Drove up to BOS and then back to Berrow almost gave up until the dog came running back to me soaking wet.... Hopefully it will be found eventually.. lets hope so, the owners were distraught. Berrow is a great place for the dogs and we had a bunny on friday......not one of the lurchers but

It has to be said that the saluki is by far the prettiest breed. Here's pip, not sure how much saluki or what else in her but she looks a lot of saluki to us.....

Oh no, that is so sad. There was a black lab x springer 10 months old missing from brean sands. We went to Berrow sands last week and there were posters on the beach. It went missing on tuesday and the owners were there on friday looking for it. It could well be this one. I'm not from there so if anyone lives near berrow sands then please look for the poster on the farthest part that you can drive on.

Don't be a mardy grump Socks: its nice to see that some folks take the time to train their dogs. Whilst there might be nowt to it for you, everyone has to start somewhere and a dog that will lie and stay is a pleasure to own. At one time I used to have much better trained dogs than I do now: must admit I've gotten a bit lazy over the years, but they still sit and stay LOL though I can imagine I'd only have got a blur if a rabbit ran across in front of them when I was taking this pic LOL!! cracking looking dogs!

Cheers for the advice, day 1 going ok so far. Off for a walk now so will take my mind off it...although I'm fine at the mo, not even thinking about it. Harddigging - if you're going through all that and are still off them then hats off to you! You're inspirational :clapping: keep at it, it will get better Lola

I agree with Hollie. Better do regret something you did than regret something you didn't do! Life isn't a dress rehearsal. Go for it and send us all a postcard :thumbs-up:

The doc I saw offered me champix if the patches fail so either way I'm ditching the filthy habit. Grrrrr, c'mom Rothmans Royals..... you and yer mates!

Where are you? Maybe there is someone on here half way willing to help out?

Orange juice? I'll definitely give that a go, might have to keep the loo roll in the fridge though

I remember V .... the bloke in it went on to play Freddie Krooger ! Ha ha ha - remember the one where the woman had twins? A green scaley one and a normal one....... until it poked out a forked tongue :tongue4:

Right - I have decided tonight is the night. I am armed with patches and an inhalator and enough cartridges to curb my 20-a-day habit. The hardest part is I have 2 left in the packet and if they are in the house I will smoke them. I already feel a bit squiffy from trying to get through the last few and have to get these last ones down me. The beer is helping (conjuring up a lovely image) as it always makes me smoke more. I really want to go to bed but can't until they have gone! Any support would be very welcome. This is my prediction for first week...... Day 1 = Day 2 = Day 3 =

That's waaaaaaaaaay better than snatching the nearest card from the petrol station! Nice personal touch

Changing their name is a good idea even if you like their existing name. That way any communication they may have had with their previous name which might have been bad is removed. It took Casper about 4 days to respond to his name as he was Pip in the dogs home. I contemplated calling him chip or something else which sounded the same but if they do have any negative associations with their name then it will be a good thing. What name ideas do you like? You should put a post for name suggestions

I agree and I think it's why mine has been so much trouble. He'd been on 3 months kennel rest after having broken his leg. The break was operated on and no longer under a vet when they picked him up. I think he was given too much rest and now he's making up for it. It must be hard for the kennel staff to know that they couldn't possibly give the dogs the walks they need though so hats off to em all, keep up the good work.

prisoner cell block H and a program called V....anyone remember that, with the lizard type aliens disguised as humans? and people like Barbara Woodhouse or David Bellamy

I think it's a great idea to get yourself a working dog from a rescue although be prepared for tough times. I wasn't prepared but working on it now. It's a shame when lurchers get rehomed and aren't allowed to chase bunnies. Mine has had a couple since I've had him and he's only around 12 months. Just don't mention about working them to the rescue, they don't seem keen.

woodbines scholls (nearly broke my neck falling off my bike cause of these) morris marinas lol T-shirts with racing cars on em flared cords going crabbing on a caravan holiday hubba bubba Oh the nostalgia!

Ha - that's a cute looking dog! I've been trying the crate and so far so good but I am limited to only doing it when my neighbour is out as he's an asswipe! But, being around in the day I am using it a lot then. Realised I was using it as punishment for being destructive so have stopped that and use it as a reward. He goes in of his own accord, think it helps that it's next to the radiator lurchers eh. As someone rightly pointed out.... superior beings

Cheers lost, they do have a clause about them going back but I don't think it will do him good as he doesn't show himself well. I would have asked them if I could carry on 'fostering' him until a new owner was found and then anyone interested I would ask them to contact the home. But the more advice I get the more I want to work with him. I don't like giving up. I would be interested if someone wanted to work him though but lets see how it goes.
