  1. Give Thurso Jack a pm he usually starts upstripping out and shampooing classes at this time of year just before the rossette season starts Cheers MOO but he's no show dog. Was thinking more about doing it for his comfort.
  2. He's lost alot of his rough coat already. Is that usual for it to change so much as he matures? He's only around 12 months.
  3. Does anyone hand strip their rough coats? Is it beneficial for the coat or is it best left alone?
  4. Well guys...I did it. One intact pelt. Good job I aint squeamish. It's tougher than you'd think, he didn't want to part with his skin thats for sure . Do I need to do anything to the pelt to stop it rotting or will it be ok?
  5. dosent matter if its stiff or not the way i do things is(everyone to there own) take feet off blade through fur on shoulder blades make slit and pull comes off in one go ideal for makeing dummies for the pups Do I need to remove the head to do it tha way? Thanks btw
  6. Cheers moxy. do I remove the legs at the joints? Also it has rigamortis at the moment... do you need to wait for this to pass or doesn't it matter.
  7. Casper caught his first full grown rabbit today. Now all I need to know is how do I skin it and prepare it. Not sure I want to eat it. But I do want the skin to use to train him. He did retrieve it live but only by the skin of it's teeth. Also it was an accident catch as he was muzzled....obviously didn't put him off. I also need to know how to dispatch it because I hated seeing it moving still. Any help and advice be great. I'll post a pic once I download them. cheers Lola
  8. Not far at all then, we're as close to brum as worcester. My lad needs building up and he has a few issues need ironing out. His recall is coming on great but he still sees small dogs as prey. Need to work on that. You ever go to waseley hills or are you more the other side of brum?
  9. we're about half hour north of worcester. whereabouts are you?
  10. Cheers Penda, will do. Will have to get to know some people and go from there.
  11. we've never done it but I've just recently got a lurcher and it got us thinking, we want them to be fulfilled. Pip is a very adept bunny catcher....and other things. My lurcher is only around 12 months but is very prey driven so we walk them places we know are full of bunnies and hopefully less other dog walkers. I'd love to go out lamping with someone experienced to get a feel for it.
  12. Spetchley only about 20 minutes from here thanks for that. Just google earth'd it and it looks fab. Sutton Park is great but a bit far really, but definitely the kind of place I like.....walk for miles and only see a few other folks. Most people stay on the main tracks. I'm sure there are plenty of places but it's just knowing where to go without the worry of other people dissapproving.....
  13. Nah, we think she pinched it off pippa. My sis also has a flatcoat x who goes in the most dense brambles and is pretty nifty too. Tashee aint quick enough but both the sheps try their best.
  14. we're in worcestershire. She is very handy! Sum good places in worcester theres 1 place called spechly park i think I'll have to look it up as we really want to know where we can go and let our lurchers do what they do best.

  16. This is Pippa - we think she is a straight saluki x grey...... Oh and Tashee looking happy with herself!
  17. signed - atb getting em back
  18. Thanks Your reply is spot on! I don't think he does know what is expected of him. The more I raise my voice or try to stop him the more determind he is to grab me. It becomes a battle of wills which he is winning right now! The only thing is I can't ignore him because he follows me everywhere biting me. It hurts. Maybe I should put his muzzle on but then he rams it into my legs trying to get it off. So do you think he would be better getting 2 walks or is 2 hours in the afternoon enough?
  19. I do try training to distract him but he goes right back into it. I actually think that he has gotten worse this last week since my sisters saluki x has been muzzled on the walks. She just won't have a run with it on but she has to wear it after catching something she shouldn't, wouldn't mind but it was a local country park. When she runs she takes Casper with her and I think he needs this. He will spend the full 2 hours playing and searching in the bushes but he needs the run too. Beautiful dogs btw Need to make sure he knows who.s boss, might sound wrong to you but a good crack and a
