MR P. You are obviously passionate about all this but You are very wide of the mark on a few things. I have met HGN and some of the Irish contingent and they are very good folks who will help others out and are very good company. The same applies to those at the ptgb,if thats who you are calling snakes. Indeed HGN has studied in depth where a lot of faults are carried and is well worth talking to on the subject. This knowledge is essential if you intend to breed them out and no amount of mud on your boots will change that. There really is no need to be slating all and sundry if their views

Shatter marked. Big no no. Ffs. Paul lost him before I had the chance to use him,as did Mango with good old Toby. Bad times.

Pauls Syd isn't it ponte? Proper one he was.

Fb does come out with some inane shite H. Must be nice to be simple sometimes in a way, head uncluttered with bothersome rational!!
-
See there you go again fb-commenting on things you know nothing about. You prove the truth in my quote time and time again. Now repeat-A wise man..etc etc....
-
That would be nice... Goodnight

Dont worry it was appreciated and won't be forgotten bud.

HGN yes I have seen it all with Plummers. As you know thats why I always did my own thing and kept away from all that shite. Some of us kept our heads down and got on with it but unfortunately the limelight seekers have given the Plummer the rep it has.

I did, but circumstance dictated working away from home for a spell and they were sat in kennels too much for my liking,my wife looking after them and 2 young kids. They were put on loan at first but I decided to let them stay there. And I can assure you they would not have been there in the first place if he was a dealer-read the post again about work ethic...

In all seriousness mate ,would you consider gifting a pup to a working home that erred to the digging side . FD I gave pups away and sold some. Most to digging guys. When I packed in I gave my stud dog and 3 bitches to a chap who had bought a bitch from me a couple of years previously and worked her hard. I had been offered well into four figures for the dog-he was game as they come and passed his type and qualities on to his progeny. I gave him to the guy because he had the same ethic as me and carried on the line, breeding for work. So we're on the same page regarding the matter reall

Proud as punch fd and rich as an Arab sheikh. See, you guys are doing it all wrong-you can't beat taking a couple of grand off some youngster who hasn't read your post about going out with old guys and cadging a free pup. When the youngsters pup has it's first season you get him to breed from it and buy the litter back at 'working mens price' and punt them out for £2000! Bunch of mugs you guys giving all that wonga away....
-
It's a plummer thread ffs. If you dont like it start a new one. If it bothers you report to mods if its in the wrong section in your expert opinion. And pups are £1000-£2000 depending on colour.
-
Funny,I thought it was about Plummers-you know, the ratting ones.....Remember what I quoted before-a wise man speaks because he has something to say,a fool speaks because he has to say something. Can you tell the subtle difference in the quote?
-
So all 'proper digging dog' pups are given away or pts, but never sold? I agree totally with the last comment about the plummer but the one about earth dogs involving no money is a bit wide of the mark-some of the 'names' that bred black dogs would never have fixed their type without producing enough pups to do it. Surely not all were given away?

I would stop listening to pure guesswork and speak to the seller...

WAY more lucrative than standing over a rabbit burrow.....not as much fun though. -
absolutely agreed Then good working jackets should have been fixed by breeding correctly. Good coats were produced by doubling on San lines,in addition to substance, courage and nose. Certain dogs were woefully over used at one time imo. There are good coats produced by some breeders today though...

i agree with you but i think that theres far too many pets being bred to pets in the plummer world...i think what was missing in the plummer was dogs like nuttals penny or smithy-prolific and prepotent for earthworking qualities...such dogs existed (e.g Toby, flavkowskis Syd,sonatal nailor etc.)but werent used much because they were the wrong colour.. I said that over 20 years ago John...nothing's changed.

Thats why I asked the question Cargol. Your statement about "proper digging" terriers as opposed to Plummers is the way most think, and most that have never seen one work at that. But your last post hits it bang on the head.

Catering bean tin covered in black tape-light and sturdy. The old blue eye were the best for no side glare, esp from a distance. Get some blue stick on wind screen tint and cut a circle to stick to the centre of your lamp. Cuts white glare a lot. You'll find most side glare comes from the centre of the lens which is why the blue spot works well. I've done it to every lamp I've had. About 2-21/2" diameter works for a striker.
-
I don't get that Cargol? A dog is either a decent one or not regardless of type or breed surely. If it fits in, it is the right type and if it does the job when it does,it has the ability. What is the definition of a "proper" digging dog as opposed to a Plummer?

Remlap line were all from my stuff Fireman. There are still one or two about and doing the job. Another good line been blended with them.
-
Try the putanges, they can be hidden and discreetly marked. Ali phos can be hit and miss.
-
I did, but homozygous dogs that replicate themselves both type and work wise aren't too common unless tightly bred. I've seen guys do it to the detriment of stock too.
