  2. Have a good time boys, enjoy :clapper:
  3. Litre of cheap own label gin 1 Lb. of sloes ( i really do prick every berry a couple of times and leave them in the freezer over night - worth it!) half a pound of sugar ( use brown, it's natural and so much smoother) Couple of drops of almond essence Throw the lot into a clean and dry ( i don't steralize) jar ( I use a Kilner type) for three months and push through a folded tea towel and then some coffee filter paper... job done. If you find a huge crop of sloes pick them all and freeze for the following year as sometimes they do not re-appear annualy. ( don't tell everyone though
  4. Swillinton Shooting Supplies ......erm in Swillington
  5. Check your Atlas :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
  6. That looks like a crackin' bit of permission. Just sitting, looking out over "the spread" with a tub of sarnie's and the flask...great. (you could even take the rifle !) :whistling:
  7. I have found that by inserting the multi-shot magazine (1.77) and using "rapid fire" you can direct a fly across the target by picking a right leg then a left, a bit like paddling a kayak down stream. I've been practicing this at around 45 yards, building up confidence to get rid of the fleas on my neighbours cat..... :diablo: :diablo:
  8. fill your boot with the free gloves at the petrol station....work a treat
  9. Good on yer mate. Gives me the incentive to keep searching for a permission. keep us posted
  10. someone posted a picture of a young swallow on one of the threads, this is one I took last September...took hours to get a (sort of) motionless shot.
  11. welcome aboard big fella :clapper: HW100 eh ? Sounds like a damn fine choice to me ( I love mine)....take no notice of the air arms boys I think it's just frustration..... ;)
  12. Is it conservatory pyke ? :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
  13. Here's one that I took last year, these are not the easiest birds to get close to.
  14. Watched a clip on youtube with a guy zeroing in his rifle dead on in two shots. He used a home made stand / holder that kept the gun completely stationery. Fired one shot at a target 30 yards away then moved the cross hairs in the sight to align with the hole in the target...sounds almost too simple. Does anyone have any pictures of a stand they have used ? I'm looking at adapting something for my workmate and giving this a go. Cheers
  15. I'd be interested to know if any of you guys take a dog out with you, I went to a friend's permission on Monday and he took his three dogs...they scared the crap out of everything I appreciate that it is a matter of training and the old "crap in crap out" scenario but would be keen to know who does who doesn't..... and what breeds. I know we are all perfect shots but would a lurcher be a useful tool for an injured runner or is this viewed as prolonging the kill? (at least you'd get the rabbit back and be able to despatch accordingly) Cheers Guys, - Keep in touch Buster, I'll make
  16. Springer / Cocker / Clumber / Irish water etc etc etc......
  17. I was sat at home supposed to be working watching the rain It was really pissing down out there when i decided to test out my Barbour jacket after a "home" re-wax. Took the 100 for a stroll around a lake that I fish where I have permission to wack the magpies and pigeons The Barbour was holdiong up well and not leaking at all..... as I stood there like a right knob in the rain without a bird in sight. Decided to peer over the fence and see what was going on in the neighbouring field and there it was....... a rabbit rave was going on...hundreds of them partying in the rain. I knelt
  18. Leave whole and clean out. Stuff the cavity with rosemary and lemon slices, sprinke of sea salt on the skin. Wrap in foil (like a bag / tent) and sling it on the barbie for half an hour or stick it in the oven. You can add a slug of white wine and it will steam rather than bake. If youv'e got loads of trout cook them off and make fish cakes.......beautiful. Personally.....I wack 'em in the smoker whole
  19. Not sure which is bigger but these breed on an annual basis down in Wales in the garden. (Elephant Hawk Moth).
  20. No major problems with the breech, although depending on the make of pellet it can shave a few mill. off the skirt. Using accu pell and these seem to be fine. Thanks for the reply

  23. I have the opportunity to go on shoot with a friend, I don't have my own permission so the deal is I lend him a rifle and he takes me. I thought i'd head up to Kibworth range to check the zero-ing and check out my old faithfull HW57 .22 Also took along the HW100 for the hell of it. Set the target up at 15 yards and zeroed, moved to 25 and did the same.....pushed out to 35 yards and was putting a 1cm. group of 5-6 pellets every time . I'd really forgotten how good this rifle is, yes its loud and kicks back like Joey Barton but a real treat to shoot. Im pretty sure it's improving my all rou
