    No mate.....miles off.........seems tricky to get a definitive answer ........maybe I should ask the fisheries officer ? As PK stated each area has their own by-laws regarding mesh size and placements of nets. The best way to find them out is to ask a fisheries officer from the area for a copy of them. TC yup but be warned thou dont get the rong set of bylaws for your area, we have cumbria sea fisheries comittie bylaws, and the new northwest inshore sea fisheries bylaws to stick too its bull poo

    ahh i see the best things ive ever used were 3ft long sections of scaffolding boards buried in well them and man-hole covers but you cant get them very often

    well i got roped into singing at egremont crab fair for the first time in 5 years, their was about 800-1000 people in the hall and it was a lot more nerve racking than i remember but i got second place for my wee effort! note to say sorry for the bad camera quality and singing 4 pints down at this stage!

    PK you sound like 'da man' in respect of netting legalities........notwithstanding your recent brush with the law.....which I am sure was an oversight on your part......lol ........if I was to anchor a net from the beach off some imaginary west coast island.....say at least half a mile from any any fresh water...... What would the consequences be ?? Bell going by what i know from my "encounters" and a good friends numerous encounters you may get off fairly lightly for a first time, but you WIll lose the net and fish and may have other equipment taken as evidence or seized for good. a

    ahh yeh right we can drift net and sein net outside of the normal season but have to stay out side of the four box areas! once dec comes we can net where we want! clear as mud eh! role on dec ile have nets out in force!

    That's a lot of fish and chips PK......what's the legalities mate........didn't you get your collar felt recently for that kind of caper......only interested as I wouldn't want to be on the 'wrong side of the fence' so to speak. Bell no i got a dozen salmon out the beck so yeh i got Rodgerd for it (both by the establishment and THL mafia ) but it realy depends on your bylaws, up hear we can have fixed nets out from the first of dec till.....i cant remember when june some time! nets cant be over 250m long and cant be with in 150m of other nets. but we can drift net and sein net outsid

    yeh we use all sorts for "anchors" mainly bits of plywood about 18" square dug in about 2ft one at each 100m of net, on big tides we use 3 but we will use breez blocks and them big blocks with them holes in them, bt weve had nets pull out and f**k off a mile down the beach! theirs a old pipeline from sellerfield and they aways end up wrapped around that its a good stop for them but my god what a mess! we also have a small float with our names on and god help any one with nets on some one elses anchors!

    no its from a full tide. engh to fill the freezer thier i would eat bass every day of the year if i had it!

    a month back i was threatend (and scared silly by) by 13 lads 4 of them had shotguns the rest lurchers and terriers they were poaching i phoned the police with the names of the ones i recognized and they said oh theirs not much we can do with them this after taking a hour to get the the place, what f***ing use is that!! a farmer freind of mine has been plauged by the same lads and the coppers have had him in the van a couple of times after catching him with his dogs and nowts come about it! and yet every one else get jumped on from a great height! f***ing useless P.S mods sorry for sweari
