i have been told by a mate,, that the dna test can tell the exact persentages of the difrent breeds within that dog,, so in theroy if you have a bitsa type lurcher it can tell all the difrent breeds. my mate,,, has a mate with a plummer lurcher,,, he had this test done,,, and it came back that there was australian collie in there,,,, but lets be honest,, provided your lurcher does what you want, does it matter,,,, and i bet most pedigree dogs have other bits in there if they checked

theres some cracking half crosses around,, that do well at the rabbit game,,, but if you want an all rounder i think like some of the others,, best of with a bitsa type with a bit of collie,,, not 50%.

that word jacker such a horrid descrition for a dog,,, but if we must use it,,,, to me its a dog that wont run any game,,, just stands and watches it run off. but diffrent types of crosses have difrent amounts of staminar, pure and simmple. some are speed merchants and burn up quik,,, i should no i got 2 here but give em a rest and theyl run again,, ok they wont suit evryone, but they still have somthing to offer... just not if your running hares on big land,, where you need alot more. lets be honest if this pup did run 5 mins, and it was a genuin 5 mins, ile have the f****r

many a time in the 80s 3 young uns to feed -- poached the odd pheasant aswell - kept the local chinese takeaway supplied to get a few quid in ,,, even poached the odd allotment .. had a good customer base down the pub for rabbits pheasant and mushrooms .... I some mushrooms are worth more than others :wacko: , but feck they taste fowl :sick:

yes i have also lived off poaching, but like poacher said got better money for the birds, the ,s were i time for being made redundant, evrytime i got a job the place went bust a year later what is/was intresting, is the other unconvenal methods you use to catch game , like driving birds in to a longnet,, or we had a place where we bent over some rabbit netting and got birds entrapped we would gat a dozen or so, in just a few mins. and like Chalkie,,, them rimmys shure are the tool, even back then you could get one for £ ton. no questions

That's a well conditioned bitch, Tomo ! Was she hard to get, and keep in condition, or was she one of those who conditioned without massive amounts of work ? Cheers. like her owner, rock hard in condition all the time ,,, no mate she could loose that condition easy.

yes but only in older age, around 6 ,, so he wasn;t what he was as a younger dog. i also saw splodge run a few times,, even on some small land i had, very rolling land with hedges,, and he killed there very well my dog in my avatar (sally, whipp/grey type) knocked splodge out of the doublehanded windmill cup in 2oo4, she was a very fast bitch with a real nack of finishing things quik wich she did on this race,,, but i tell ya that splodge was fecking fast, he was only a head behinde at the first turn, but sally turned quiker, and hoover up puss

MY old bitch Visa is out of captin,,, maxhardcore off this site bred her using his coursing dog, bred from a pure saluki called tor of dartmoor. my bitch was allways good for two's, and ocastional three;s, but never to the standard of her sire,, or many other top coursing dogs,, i did lamp mine alot at the bunnys though,, and she was capable of good bags,,, and loved deer,, she's well past it now though at only 8 years,, 9 in july.. artheritis in her shoulder, and busted up toes from running stony ground at grantham. i have a few pics, ile put up heres captin most recent
