  1. These are my two Rabbit paunching knifes, both do the job well, the smaller one is good for mooching, as it fits in the pocket, both are hand made have a good edge, and are made by Jes knifes, more expensive than Opinels, but these two were bought for me as presents.
  2. Out today for three and half hours, ended up with four Rabbits, young kits doing well, but could do with hob to hang on and stay, had three non bolters, but couldn't get a mark, he is a decent size, but keeps moving, so difficult to get down and dig, as marks were three feet, not wanting any stick ups, but it does help, if they stay, should come with experience.
  3. I have an eight feet run, with pipes toys and a ladder, but being Ferts, i find they sleep most of the time.
  4. What about a Bedlington X Whippet, or would you be looking for more hight?
  5. Had to get mine done for kennel cough, as he is having to go into kennels for three days, the kennels in my area wont entertain a dog unless you have it on its health certificate, costs £20, for a Vet to scoosh some up one nostril, I think you can only get it on prescription, another rip off.
  6. Get a decent track retired greyhound, with good feet, where i come from Scottish borders, lots of good working leggy Border Collies, give the Farmer a bottle of Whiskey as a stud fee, look after the brood Bitch really well, and you have a Litter, that you can take a Pup from, and the others should sell no bother, no need to go near a puppy farmer.
  7. Thanks Casso its good to get some positive feedback Penny Taylor as always has pmd me with some good advice, ATB, CJ.
  8. A lot of thought went into this litter, sire is a well bred whippet top coursing lines through his pedigree Dam was racing champion 2008 2009 with a lot of quality racing blood, her previous litter are working well, both dogs work, pup is fine, in all aspects, just the car, the breeder was very experienced, and his bringing on the litter was spot on, So I will not be shooting him, or buying a mike Brown, Thanks for your help.

  10. Not published yet, but it has been accepted, thanks for asking.
  11. I was out today got four all clean no sign of mxyi, young kits are both working fine for learners, but could do for them to stay with non bolters for longer, so I can get a good mark, thats 12 Ive had with them, and no sign of blood on their chops so they are not killing yet, but it will come, after being away from the ferreting for so long, three is a nice number for me, today I walked a mile and half, no road with two ferts in a box, my game bag with nets plus four rabbits, and my spade, I was knackered, this is when you find out your not as fit as you used to be, don't think I could have ca
  12. My seven month Whippet Pup has a car phobia, I am not wishing for a remedie, believe me I have tried everything, but nothing works, my Vet says it is not travel sickness, but fear of the car, I cant understand where it came from, as all his car journeys have ended in him enjoying himself, he was sick as a pup when he was being delivered, perhaps it stems from then. I just need to put him in the car for two seconds, even if the engine is not running and immediately he is foaming at the mouth, Today I took him with me ferreting,I left the car at the Village Mechanics place, when I let him out,
  13. Netrigger for me also, im fed up repeating myself can you not have net makers pinned as where can I buy purse nets comes up week after week.
  14. Slip have a look at my simple set up just a five feet hutch, and a six foot run which has a pipe in it, a ladder, a toilet tray. and a ferret tent, they can sleep in,, I only use this when its a dry day, and they love it, picked up both the hutch and the run for free, I know its not good compare to the ones here, but they seem happy enough.
  15. Ive just had four stitches out my finger, and have to keep finger clean, so I have been ferreting today and will be out tomorrow, with a painful finger, so that makes me no mouse.
  16. On the subject of Gloves, im looking for a box of disposable for gutting rabbits, do Poundland sell them?
  17. I always take mine out Ferreting from about six months, but that's all, no lamp work till older, I find ferreting is good for them, brings them on, and they usually start using their nose, anyway well done Tyla, looks like you and your Dug are enjoying yourself.
  18. Decided to go for a short mooch with my young Whippet and this years Hob kit, left the Jill at home, this was his first time out, bolted one rabbit, then tried him in a bigger Warren, where he bolted another, but it slipped the net, he then went back in, I knew he was at a rabbit, but could hear nothing pure Peat, but I couldn't get a mark, although he was with a Rabbit he kept moving, and returned with claws covered in fur, a more experienced Ferret would have stayed with the rabbit, but well pleased with him. Going out tomorrow, on to some good ground, plenty Rabbits and open burys, so the
  19. Cheers Relic what size single collar is on the Fawn Dog?
  20. I carry a pair of cheap garden gloves in my bag when ferreting, I use them when cleaning round burys with my secateurs, as been said, saves you getting stung, and they take up no room in your bag, I just buy mine from Lidls or Aldi
  21. Nice collars Relic, but I prefer a single buckle, don't see the need for two, but everyone to their own.
