  1. Not bad,.. for an old 'rabbit catcher' ! lol
  2. A fair haul, there,....they must have been happy, with the price, then ?,....(its not a 'competition', regarding how long, it takes,...mind ?,.....ha ha)
  3. Can i ask, how many you caught, (roughly) in that period ?,....
  4. "very humane" ?,...not every time, for me,.....just down to an individuals, experience, with them, i suppose ?...
  5. Took me a while with the 'trapline', alot of messing about, to achieve a decent, 'capture rate',......downside, not always 'humane' ?,....'putanges', seem to work well, & probably more 'humane', a capture, than the trapline ?,....well, thats only what ive 'gleaned', on here ?,......(havent used them, no need , personally)
  6. The mole make's its way into the trap and dislodges the mubble pin (trigger)by that time the noose inside of the trap will enclose around head/shoulders of the mole.the noose is connected to the spring out-side of the trap. The spring is under tension so once the pin is triggered it pulls the noose closed. Thank you for the detailed account of the workings of the trap, I had worked that out already. Thought it was strange you asking that tiercel, my mistake. What I want to know is how the mole dies, asphyxiation or trauma? I once read that a mole is likely to die instantly of org
  7. I know, what your getting at, mate ?,...but, to be honest, if a "modern duffus", is 'installed' correctly,...this shouldnt really happen ? Yep shouldn't happen but it does. Maybe we have clever moles up here! Well, on a rare occasion, i have had a trap, shifted ?,.i suppose ? (pushed up, a bit),..when theres a severe, overnight dip, in temperature, usually ?,...& moley decides too 'tunnel deeper', shifting alot of soil ? (im "up here", too ! lol,...not too far away)
  8. I know, what your getting at, mate ?,...but, to be honest, if a "modern duffus", is 'installed' correctly,...this shouldnt really happen ?
  9. Sorry, tried to attach a pic, but failed ? (will try again)
  10. This young mole catcher, (well ok, not so young ! lol) is quite chuffed, to catch a mole, in this old 'bygone' style of trap. (but, im not shy to say, that i had a couple of failed attempts, first ? ha ha)
  11. Aye,... hes made a good job, of that wee film ? (dont recall him 'posting' , in a while on here, either ? lol)
  12. You must have got a 'surprise', on that one ?,...lol
  13. Good luck, mate, i became aware (same as Bry) of a 'mole catching' video (number of years, ago), & heard the guy, made quite a good job of it ?,...(& im sure ive seen one by someone else, advertised,..more recently),........If i made more 'money' at this game, who knows i may even purchase one, myself ? ha ha,....cause you can never be too 'experienced', to perhaps learn, something 'new', ...i suppose !
  14. Same as me, mate,...(i didnt mean it too serious ? lol).....Fortunately, for the 'newbies',..theres more information available, to help them now, than there ever was ?
  15. Dont give him too many 'tips', Bry !,...no harm, in learning by 'trial & error', when first starting out ? ha ha ha
  16. You can catch, with all the suggested types, mate .So you should experiment ?, and see what you get on best with, maybe ?(compare 'capture rate', etc),.... A good 'duffus' type, isnt a bad first choice,.....as its a well 'proven' design ?
  17. Goodness me, Talpa !,... couldnt get more 'comprehensive' advice, of how to go about, taking the steps you need, to deal with this type of situation ? (brilliant)
  18. I have no experience,...but this sounds, the 'way to go', maybe ?
  19. He sounds a right 'a......e', mate,....(& i assume your 'price' , was fair, too ?) He had no intention, of giving you the 'full amount', his type !,........i kind of understand, your response ?,....but have a re-think, you shouldnt really let it go, so easily ?,.......(no matter how you respond, as we all react differently, as individuals ?)
