  1. in the BDS Deer Annual Summer 2009 second page there is half page article re a Muntjac hit in NI. first ever ,
  2. it could be a doebuck, female with antlers maybe? i have seen it before. bit late for calling though isnt it? ruts been and gone
  3. generally the rut is late july early aug, its certainly fading out down here now.
  4. might be wrong but i think your virtually find its been and nearly gone
  5. completely agree with foxdropper on this one.
  6. Agreed above I have most of Priors books, a wealth of knowledge main one i would start with is Roe Deer managment and stalking then Roe deer conservation of a native species.
  7. Generally the rut has started but it is 100% not in full swing probably due to weather changing constantly. Tonight i witnessed a young buck right up behind a doe following her every move. I also shot two bucks both with attending does, calling has produced a few yearlings also. another week or so i think your find it is well away we just need a few days of constant warmth. mr prior belives 20th july -13th aug is rutting time for the roe.
  8. You could try simmering it in boiling water with bi carbonate soda, im unsure how bad it is obviously without seeing it. in the states they often use roting methods and bugs to clean things. dont bin it just yet
  9. try the BASC stalking options can be good value especially the Arran program.
  10. I use sako SP 150 grain also federal sp 180 grain, but im just about to go over to balistic tip no particular reason why however. all in sako 75 308
  11. if its only a little dont worry about it, its widely accepted there maybe some just like a plucked chicken has micro down feathers still and pork with skin may sometimes have tiny hairs still. wont kill you. try to avoid to much water it speeds up the decaying process.
  12. i got mine here http://www.nationalgamekeepers.org.uk/ngo-shop/ cant see them on the site now but they do say on there for tags to ring them
  13. I use the Harkila one, actually probably one of the lowest price considering harkilas normal price. its large very strong comfy and quiet. couldnt recomende more
  14. 7.30-8.30pm for me, though its getting late in the season now for buck as generally they feed short and rest to build up there best strengths for the rut time.
  15. your going to need to spend time on the ground looking for them , look at any fraying and damaged caused by them and with the rut comming up possibly call them and see what shows. its not really as 1,2,3 oh theres another 4.
  16. another is reptek in windsor they use honeybrook but provide in smaller qty and more regular
  17. pest control or vermin control isn’t sport it is as it says vermin, what difference is it one year old or five years old, yes it might not be politically correct to shoot young animals but it has to be done. And as for people saying about shooting all the foxes in one area, impossible, i know of two estates next to each other they shot over 500 last year and there is still plenty this year. one goes one moves in.
  18. yup i use the cream type speak nicely to the hair saloon they will sell it to you im sure its only 5-10 quid a large bottle i havent need to buy any for years as it last so long
  19. My method is 1. freeze head 2. put in bucket of hot water for 20 min to partially defrost. 3. in jig and cut the cap 4. using a knife remove every bit you possibly can from the head 5. using a large old sauce pan with boiling water enough to submerge the head but not to boil on the coronets add 2 tsp of bicarb 6. simmer head for 20 mins roughly or until remaining meat and fat is pealing away with a spoon and knife. 7. once every bit is removed lay out cling film cover the skull cap in your choosen bleach type i use 40% from a friends hair salon 8. wrap skull cap with cling film ensuri
  20. I have my quad for sale on ebay Item number: 270395828911 take a look please
  21. we have a bridged section over the M25 which was put up because of RTC's
  22. they go on ebay for alright prices
  23. I had a tikka t3 hunter .243 it was an amazing gun and accounted well the reason i changed it soley is i wanted .308 and i wanted synthetic stock because the wood did swell and fade whilst on a weeks trip in scotland, however when i returned home it dried fine and oiled with the correct oil was back to normal. Cost to me would say buy tikka unless you have the spare cash.
  24. Difficult your paying to stalk your paying for the beast, your paying to shoot a stag /buck so everthing else is a bonus, £20 would do.
