  1. Thanks all. The farmer asked us to help him this morning (only 8hrs after the deadline ) because yet again he has had approx 100/120 male birds dumped on his land. It happened last year, they are everywhere, being killed on the lane, running all over the place, in the kennel field, its a shame really, lovely bodied and conditioned birds, we just dont know why they are dumped and why they choose there to do it! Alimac, would love to see the pic. Dawn.
  2. My boss took these this morning while Breeze was bringing back the goods, a HUGE mouthful for a little dog,but she got them back to us in the end. Dawn.
  3. I agree, sound like Ticks, young ones, they go grey when they are full of blood, did the one on her muzzle do that? Pic would be good. Dawn.
  4. Oh gawd, now I am being accused of feeding vermin!
  5. The RSPCA have a dart gun, ask them to help you, they are (apart from vets) the only ones licenced to use one. Dawn.
  6. Got another one this afternoon but not before he ate the perch off the bird feeder! Dawn.
  7. I was! Can you imagine telling folk I was attacked by a Squirrel!!
  8. 2 of the buggers today. first one attempting to empty the bird feeder at the bottom of the garden, shot it, I think it was dead when the bitch got to it, but she enjoyed the munch! Second one, was shot on the Cat pen, I knew I hit it, but couldnt see where it went as I shot it out of the kitchen window! I went outside and it came at me!, almost attacked by a Squirrel!! I opened the back door and let Tarn out, he caught it immediately. That one was a big male, the other was much smaller, a female. 2 less anyway. Dawn.
  9. Thanks FL, much appreciated. Dawn.
  10. Bought to me by somebody visiting the kennels, found on our lane this afternoon. No more than 4mths old. Bitch. Looks like Collie/Bull/Whippet type. Very friendly. Owner will identify collar markings. Walsall, West Mids. PM for further info. Dawn.
  11. I agree, remove the retained testicle if nec, but I would wait untill the dog is around 16 mths at least. Obviously the dog cant be used at stud as it is an inherited problem, but removing only the retained testicle will mean no issues associated with catration. Getting fat is not a valid excuse IMO, thats the owners issue not the dog, weight is easily controlled. Some longer coated or wirey coated dogs will become soft and thicker coated which is not ideal. Dawn
  12. Id agree with you the DS he IS mad! Super pics Millet, love the second one. Focal Length: 190mm Exposure Mode: Shutter Priority (TV) Metering Mode: Average 1/4000 sec - F/5
  13. Hi Redrob. If a Border or most likely any wire haired Terrier is ready for stripping, its coat will come out in chunks if its up against a roughish surface. It just means the coat should be stripped out, you will find it unweatherproof and it will hold the dirt more if you leave it. just my opinion. Dawn. See, this dog is ready for stripping. Look how easily it comes out and that nice shiny new coat is underneath!.
  14. Mad man!! Its a Canon EOS 400D Shaman, I upgraded from the 350D. Dawn.
  15. You could try stripping your dogs coat when it needs it!

Super pics Moll, welcome to the world of Canon!! Great choice. Dawn.
  18. DO MEAN WE SHOULD ONLY BREED DOGS IF WE GIVE THE KC MONEY You can breed whatever you like, I said what I would do. Dawn.
  19. Nice to see people having a go at Borders AGAIN, gets very boring. There are umpteen pups advertised on here, all types and crosses, parents never worked, but nobody says much about it, unless its a Border! Whilst I do not condone breeding unregistered Borders as they are a registered breed, for gods sake stop giving folk stick when all they did was want to share photographs of their puppies with you. Dawn.
  20. Lovely chap! Pics are better with a bit of contrast, nice Border! Dawn.
  21. Lovely thanks for the pics BB and DS. I have only ever caught a glimpse of one in Cumbria on two occasions, and I am still told they are not there but they are! dawn.
  22. He's a cracking dog, shame about his brother, but with no hip scoring etc.. its always an increased worry it will occur. Nice black bitch too, lovely to see well made Labs doing a job, dogs a credit to you. Dawn.
