    Well done. Try using the aperture priority mode for single subjects like the flowers. It will focus on the subject and blur the background making the flower be the centre of your viewing. you are really getting to grips with it now! I also use my 75-300mm lens for portraits and head shots etc.. its a better lens for that sort of stuff, here is an example. and also: Both taken on aperture priority.

    For moving subjescts i use auto focus, for tripod stuff I use manual.

    Blue & tan is the usual black & tan as in the GSD, it just looks blue because of the agouti banding that's common in wire haired breeds.

    I sit here asking for HELP!! In the past I have been able to take the dogs ratting at a stable yard where a friend keeps her Horses, I have also been able to go to a local farm, friends of person who keeps Horses! However, she has moved her Horses and the land owner wont allow it, full stop, in fact he is a miserable git! (but the grazing is good! ) Problem is my pup needs to get out now, he needs to work among other dogs. My older border has a few problems now, so I dont do anything but marking and trailing with him, my bitch still works Rats, Squirrels, Rabbits etc. but will NOT

    ALL blue and tan Borders are born black and tan, they get the "ticking" as they get older, which makes them look blue, by a few months old, you should see the evidence of it.

    Can you not syringe it straight into its mouth? May seem daft and Im not familiar with giving meds to Birds, but wondered if it would be possible?

    Of course they do, its their speciality! Those that dont see the dogs working and witness the problems they may come across, are always the ones that KNOW whats best!

    If you have only just had him, he's probably just scent marking and trying his luck! You could speak to your Vet about a ""Tardak" injection. its a temporary castration and lasts about 4-6 weeks. it will mimic castration and give the dog an opportunity to settle in, by the time it wears off, you may well have no further problems. Should you wish to go for castration in the long run, it wont alter his working ability, nor his prey drive, but personally Id try the tardak first. Dawn.
