If you mean Newcastle supporters, they have very LONG memories, they have to, the last trophy they won was 1969 !
-
That's only your opinion, there is no proof of that. Newcastle were consistently in the top 25 clubs in the world, financially , before Ashley, and still are. Never was there any talk of administration before he bought Newcastle. Hall and Shephard were doing the same as him, lining their own pockets. It's been the same thing all along, I remember my fathers pals McKeag and that old pirate Lord Westwood doing the same. Ashley didn't save Newcastle from going to the wall, he just saw a cash cow, and bought it. In fact, in 2007, when Ashley bought Necastle, they were ranked 13th richest club in

Matt, I'm sure the Villa fans, players, board, owner, all want success. The problem at Newcastle is the fans want success, but the owner doesn't want to take a gamble and invest in future success. He has said, quite openly, that his only priority is staying in the Premier, and the guaranteed rewards that brings. He does not think the gamble of spending heavily to try and get to the Champions League is sound financial strategy. He sees the Europa League as not cost effective, costing to much to be in it than what the returns are, he sees the domestic cups as a hindrance to the Premier. He is a

It's simply the law of supply and demand; if fans are prepared to pay£50/60/70 for a ticket , or £60 a month for Sky Sports, then the players will be payed accordingly. It's pointless moaning about players wages, then paying £70 to watch the same players. !
-
Thing is, he was never going to succeed at Newcastle because it's not Ashley's game plan to invest and try for success, all he wants is to remain in the Premier and make a profit. I thought Pardew would stay as a yes man for Ashley, but has suprissed me by apparently putting personal pride and professional integrity before being a lackey and deflecting the shit that should realy be thrown at Ashley.
-
Newcastle haven't sacked Pardew, he is leaving for more money, more control, less pressure and less expectation. Makes sense to me. The next manager Newcastle get will have to put up with the same shit, no matter who it is. I would imagine managers have their own grapevine, so most will know the situation, and no top manager will put up with it, so it'll be someone like Bruce or McClaren.

There's no bigger honour in sport than representing your country. Keane thought he was bigger than the team, bigger than the manager. He found out he wasn't, so walked out on his team and his country when they needed him most. The act of a petulant, dishonourable man.....
-
Keane's just like DiCanio, a great player, and one of the games characters, but useless in man management . Their temperament isn't just suspect, it's proven to be unsuitable to be a team player or manager. When Keane walked out on Ireland during a World Cup he should have been ostracised by all who follow the game.
-
You might end up with him some day !

It doesn't matter who they will be happy with; Ashley will go the cheap route, someone mediocre, who's out of work, ( so he won't have to pay any compensation), someone who will do as he's told, and have no more ambition than to stay in the Premier. The likes of Klopp or De Boer would want far more autonomy than Pardew had, and would want to be in charge of who comes and goes, so that would rule them, and any decent manager, out. I'd probably bet on someone like McClaren or Bruce, who won't cost much in compensation, or some out of work nonentity, what price Kinnear ? LOL !

Allways wanted a Transit Tipper, but the missus said if she wanted a Transit parked on the drive she would have married a p***y !
-
Sunderland put on free buses for the fans, but I'd guess most came in cars or public transport, the Metro or the Trains. There is ALLWAYS a bit of shouting at the Central Station when these matches are on, but nothing that really causes a big disturbance. Some of the Sunderland fans only live the other side of the river, so could just jump on public transport to get to the game, so many were in town before and after the game, enjoying a pint and the craic. I had a pint with some Sunderland fans in Tiger-Tiger after the game, they were obviously cock a hoop at winning and taking the piss a bit,

Am I reading this right ? You have used the site many times to buy and sell, but now you have to donate a fiver, you won't use the site again ? You don't have to donate every time, you know, just the once ! I'd guess with your attitude, the owner of the site won't loose too much sleep if you never post again .....

Max, before the game I was in the pubs on Percy street, there were Sunderland fans drinking and having a craic. After the game I was in the Gate, same again , Sunderland fans having a drink, no trouble. I ended up in the Bigg Market, and if there was going to be any trouble, it would have been there, but no, all fine. I've no doubt there would have been a few idiots from both sides shouting abuse at each other, but that's hardly rioting in the streets!
-
Again this where i see the difference in intensity of rivalries......as Max says its all tongue in cheek.......for some areas its just not like that and far too deep rooted to have banter about.....ive seen with my own eyes Millwall commit acts anyone would call scum, not just football fans but people from the area.......fellas of my generation from that area i dislike intensely as they probably do me its not really even about football it just runs through the generations and still applies to many of the kids today as its handed down as naturally as teaching your kids to cross the road......
-
It would be a strange move, leaving newcastle to go there. There is talk that It would cost 6 million to buy out his contract, could Palace afford that ? It's money that would be better spent on players. He is now 4/11 favourite with the bookies and they don't usualy get it wrong. Also talk of Necastle approaching Ajax for Frank De Boer, I'd swap Pardew for De Boer any day!
-
Nothing to do with political correctness, Max. I've got freinds in Sunderland, and I spend a fair bit of time there, had some good lock ins over the years. I wouldn't dream of calling someone "scum" simply because they are from a different area. Maybe you come out with all this nonsense just to get a rise out of people, it certainly works for me !LOL! As I say there are far more important things than football, in my life, at least. Happy New Year.
-
Ive grown to like ol Max over the years his hearts in the right place even if his brains not sometimes .....admittedly he does come across like he,s only recently found his favourite club/area but thats ok he,s enthusiastic and he does at least go to football i like reading his posts on sport they usually get you thinking You seem to know the score Brigzy but i disagree with the way you dismiss things as being unimportant and " only a game "......historically football is our national sport and part of tradition through the generations.....for many areas the football club is the central h

Max, were you REALLY at the Newcastle/Sunderland game ? The reason I ask is because I said I'd meet up with you and have a craic about dogs, football, South East Asia , etc and you said you couldn't get a ticket and wouldn't be there. Now I don't want to hear what streets your coach went down, or about the dead rat under the table ! No porkies, Max, just the truth. And remember, the greyhound game is a small world, were any of you aquaintences trailing dogs at Camois recently ?
-
Max what will it take for you to accept yours is not a particularly big rivalry ?...... can i ask how many derby games of other clubs you have been to ?.....ie,what you have to compare to......for sheer intensity id put yours about 6th or 7th in England on what ive experienced and on conversations ive had with other fans over many years. When you speak to people who have followed their clubs for years and years through the dark old days as well as present you realise big numbers really dont come into it......derby games like Liverpool/Everton......Man Utd/City.....Newcastle/Sunderland have
-
No, I just reply to you're stupidicy, football is just a game, it doesn't mean anything to my or your lives. If you want to make SAFC your life, then that's OK, I have more important things to get on with.....
-
If your an adult , then you're a sad man..... If you are a child, then I hope someone will educate you .
-
Max, I'm not bitter or jealous of Sunderland, in fact I'd love to see them have success . I remember going to the world cup in Japan an Korea, and I supported England and Ireland. I was in a bar with my wife, and a whole load of Arsenal supporters and we got on great ! Football is just a game, you really need to grow up and see the bigger picture...
-
He was trained and brought on by Wallsend Boys Club, he went to Southhampton with my Godson, Shearer had a far more successful career than my Godson, but they are are still mates, and my Godson is still involved in professional football . Newcastle missed out on both of them, but Shearer came home, and did exactly what we expected of him .
-
I'm still not sure if Max is on a wind up, or if he is an idiot. He may be a 15 year old, supporting his team, who knows ? He certainly hasn't supported or followed football for many years. Maybe he is just on a massive wind up, (in his mind), but I'd guess he is just a newbie, wannabee, supporter !!
