  1. If you believe in micro evolution, you have to therefore realise that evolution is just the same thing over a longer period of time If every animal on this planet was unchangeable and their offspring were the genetic clones of their parents, creationism may have a very very small ray of light to base any of their theroies on. However they are instead based on a story about jesus, which i should add there were dozens of 'messiahs' claming the same thing before and after jesus. One of those 'sons of god' were followed but they went for the jesus idea instead when women weren't allowed to join
  2. sorry should of added i couldn't use poison because i kept birds of prey. However my hawk sadly drowned this week so i suppose i can. Sorry i was just used to the idea of not touching poison, however my neighbour has a terrier the chances of it nabbing a poisoned rat would be quite high. I only just moved here and there is a stream just at the end of the garden so getting rid of all the rats would be impossible, however there is nothing like an infestation i only saw them when they were young and stupid as you do, trying to get food desperately. I will see how it goes, but for now they hav
  3. sorry didn't read your post properly lol, i can't help sorry but if your close enough to make it worth your while there was quite a few big bunnies about as well as other stuff if you need more permission
  4. Where abouts are you? I moved from Notts and i had a bit of permission there which i am obviously not using anymore so if your in the right area you can tell them i sent you I was about 20 mins from newark
  5. It seems there are still some rats in my garden. There were a few trying to feed from the bird feeder and i managed to shoot the mother and 3 half grown but now they are adults and elusive. There are still signs though so i need to trap the buggers without catching any squirrels or hedgehogs. I know of a lot of designs but what do you reckon is the best from your experiences? Something i can build myself quite easily and cheaply is best. I was thinking maybe some sort of pit trap with a box over the top with a hole only big enough for rats? Thanks for any help
  6. This has to be the best police dog in the world, has anyone seen better? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gQpu9UoXCeM&NR=1
  7. just watched it, i think it was the first one. They shot a few pheasants and ate a pike? I thought it was pretty good, i will be watching to see what else they do its always interesting to see someone dismantle a deer.
  8. throw me a bone, what sort fo price would you expect for 100 nets?
  9. I have 6 adults ferrets for sale. From 2 litters of which the gills are great workers and the best ratters i have seen. They have been worked heavily by me and have trully proven themselves infront of a lot of experienced lads. The hob hasn't been worked by me but i am confident they will all be good workers. To working homes only please, i am in the clacton area so come and have a look if your interested. If you change your mind i will give you your money back as i would rather have them back than it be given to someone else They haven't been worked by me yet, but have been regularly handl
  10. Hey i am looking for anything upto 100 good quality purse nets. I prefer thin hemp nets from about 3' not tied to rings etc. If you have any kit your not using anymore or are selling cheap i will be bloody grateful. Sorry i am such a tight skint bugger cheers
  11. Can anyone help me choose a few good books on canine psychology. I need an advanced level book that goes into detail, hopefully linking it to natural primal instinct not from a 'train your pet dog' point of view. I would also find a decent book on guard dog training interesting, body language etc of dominant breeds. cheers
  12. this isn't a big factor, but i find it bloody exciting when you flick the lamp on and you have no idea what you might find until its there. The mystery of the dark has a big appeal...as well as them sitting further out so more chance of a slip as has been said. But my experience is only going out with mates so i haven't lived it yet
  13. Just out of curiousity, but whats the most unconventional cross you have seen in the field and thought it held its own against the more conventional? Do you reckon there is still a 'super cross' out there that might become popular?
  14. used to do it all the time for miles with my GSP, i just let him run next to me and i would cain along forest circuits or anywhere there aren't any cars. He would be at a constant run the whole time, bloody great exercise imo.
  15. what a scam, as soon as someone lets them go they will fly home to you sorry couldn't resist :11:
  16. I wouldn't want to set up a trap to be honest, i would most likely catch an adult. If i get an orphaned one i can release it back into the wild if things don't go to plan, so then in affect i have saved a weasel
  17. They have natural instincts to go down holes, work better than gerbils :11: Seriously though, i just love them. I don't know how they will turn out but i would like to have a go at socialising them with ferrets. I doubt they have any working purpose, i don't need anything better than a ferret to be honest.
  18. If anyone knows of someone with stoats or weasels, or has come across an orphaned one whilst ferreting i would be interested. I am in the Clacton area. The younger the better. Cheers
  19. Cheers, sounds like sound advice. The favourite dogs i have seen hunt had alsorts in them (can't remember but it was complicated), but i don't want to sound like i don't know what i am on about to a breeder so i wanted to narrow it down. Next step, getting a list of shit hot breeders and asking how their dogs were bred? thanks again, great forum
  20. over 90 views and no advice? must be a boring question asked too often...
  21. I am hopefully getting my first lurcher this year. I have given it a lot of thought about what i want from the dog and have been out to get practical experience. I have learnt my field craft in other field sports so i think i am sorted, all thats left is getting the lurcher itself. I will be hunting rabbits primarily, day and night. But when i shoot foxes i would like to use it to catch any left injured. Apart from this i need what everyone looks for in a lurcher so i can hunt everyday. My preference though would be a very intelligent dog and as small and agile as possible without being too s
  22. Don't want to put a downer on it as that was f*****g impressive stamina, and who knows how hot it must be out there...but if there weren't a load of 4X4s either side of that course would that gazelle of just f****d off to the side and easily out turned the saluki? Genuine question as i thought the gazelles real survival tactic was its agility not stamina.
  23. i have made myself look stupid a few times, one time i watched my mate step over an electric fence so i assumed it must of been off so followed. I got one leg over and WHAM i bot a bull charge fence straight to the left nut, i panicked so much i nearly dropped my rifle then WHAM i got another f*****g jolt to the right one. I was in too much pain to hear my mate laughing but when i looked up i relaised it was because he was in fits of silent laughter, poor bulls though :11:. To make things worse later that same day i was stood waiting for some pigeons and rooks to come into the barn and i saw
  24. Once i missed a squirrel 5 times before i just let it leave, it had impressed me that much i felt it deserved to go peacefully. The bloody thing could dodge pellets i swear :11:
  25. does she have any fleas? My ferret lost hair along her back after getting about 100 fleas after ratting and i just couldn't shift them with any of the flea killing crap. I ended up giving her a bath and picking every flea off with tweezers. If it was just moulting wouldn't it be all over not just her back?
