  1. At one time it was thought that all dogs were colour blind, but modern thinking has changed, but, "they do see color, but their chromatic acuity is significantly less than humans'. This is for two reasons: (1) dogs have far fewer cone cells in their retina (cone cells are responsible for seeing color); and (2) dogs are dichromatic (they see only two primary colors - blue and yellow) whereas humans are trichromatic, meaning we see three primary colors - red, blue, and yellow. Humans have 7 times higher proportion of cone cells than dogs, meaning that when dogs do see colors, they are pale or
  2. were abouts is doxhope how often does he breed and has he a number to be contacted on ? see ive got my heart set on a good quality deer hound x There has not been a 100% Doxhope deerhound bred since 2001ish. David Platt is a dog breeder who does produce some good dogs, Doxhope had good working lines of deerhounds and occaisionally bred litters to continue and better what they had. First crossers by Doxhope on avaerage were usually smaller than some of the other first crosses available, mainly because of the use of Doxhope males which are smaller than males of other breds, and of cours

  11. took this one just to try my lense out for close up, Nikon 300mm f/4 with 1.4 teleconverter making a focal length of 420mm, no image stabalizing and hand held and a picture with the same set up no so close up
  12. Lovely looking litter there mate..yip this is where the colours can come, in the second cross.
  13. Yes I know, anything that looks like a deerhound..but the owners were wrong on this one..not first crossers. Heres a litter of pure bred deerhounds, these all turned out the usual grey when adult..
  14. never seen a blue gray first cross, but if it was a mature dog, it could be brindle underneath its main coat, or the deerhound used may not have been pure. Most pure bred deerhounds are brindle under their grey main coat.
  15. A first cross deerhound greyhound will either be brindle or black..and there is a slight possibility of a fawn.... But that is a nice stamp of dog you have there mate
  16. Heres another first cross deerhound x greyhound..
  17. I had a bitch of this breeding, she was the best all-rounder Ive had, or seen..and she in turn bred me the best rabbiting dog Ive ever had..
