  1. Cheers mate, and quite useful on rabbits too,
  2. Sorry no rabiits to go with him, but a picture of a deerhound cross from Bedlington in Northumberland..
  3. People who say they are too big for rabbits are showing their in-experience a tad...Ive never seen a big dog that couldnt take a rabbit because of its size. Ive also had a number of pure bred deerhounds that took into the high twenties at night, and had a bitch that caught 14 blue hares in one day (and they are just big rabbits)

  11. It says more than that Ive had to desaturate the red as it was pulling my eyes out their sockets..
  12. Some great replys guys thanks allot, but Muttle last comment sums me up really I am really only just starting out so I think a D70 with a nikon 300mm lense will be a good start to giving me better pic's than my cheapo compact point and shoot sony i have currently, if and when I get the bug, I can look at improving the quality of my lense. Thanks again for all your comments much appreciated Rex,try the 300 f4, its considered to be one of the sharpest 300mm f4`s on the market, its sharp from f4, and the AFS model can take a Nikon tele converter, and with the tc 1,4 is just as sharp al
  13. i was looking at buying the nikon d70 last year, but after much thought i bought a sony a700,it was the in-body image staboliser that made me change my mind, that means unlike the nikon i don't have to be spending loads of extra money on image stabolising lenses,so that means every lens i buy is an IS lens.there is a big difference in price between an IS lens and an non IS lens.hope this helps I would like to see how this compares to a IS lens. The way i look at it is that if "on camera" IS was so good the two top camera manufacturers would be using it. Not knocking your camera mate, just
  14. I agree with a lot of that mate, Im Nikon, and I only use Nikon glass..even if I have to save for it for a while. My mate uses only Sigma lenses on his Canon, simply for the cost, not for the quality, he has a Sigma 120-400mm zoom its ok, the Canon equivilent is a better lense, not twice as good, but its twice the price..Had I been a Canon man, I would only be using lenses with a red line on them..
  15. Seems a good price for the Nikon, dont be frightened about it being refurbished, my first D200 was, it came with a good guarrentee and it was a very good camera..Tamron and Sigma I tend to keep away from, but thats my opinion, I know a lot of people with Canon gear and they use Sigma quite a lot. But you could get a Nikon -300mm (non VR)for around that same price on ebay if you keep a watch out, and its far superior glass to the Tamron..
  16. You can get some good results from the Nikon -300mm, mine cost £ off ebay..all depends on how much you have to spend, but, go for the best you can afford..
  17. Yip Catcher, they are good and they will get better, and you must either get closer or get longer glass. Even with a telephoto lense you still have to get as close as you can. I got a decent distance away from this ringed plover, and have cropped it a lot to show the difference it can make..Its over sharpened a little..didnt have time to work on it too much.. I take around 200 when Im out, at the Farnes last year I filled 3 4GB memory cards in one day..Practice makes perfect, getting to know what your camera can do and work on the cameras settings till you get what your after.
  18. Well, at least you have a plan, which is a lot more than some people involved with breeding dogs.. It is the closest, on paper.. Ive been involved with breeding using line breeding techniques with dogs, birds, leeks the lot..In over 30 years we only bred this close once..and that was an accidental mating (it did however produce an American champion and reserve champion) I also know a lot of well informed breeders who also adopt these breeding alternatives, very few of these poeple have used that mating. Now half brother half sister matings, and NOW you are taking.. No dog is free from faul
