Agreed duckwing...they are gamekeepers not terriermen. The same as 99% of terrier lads on here are not terriermen. They are recreational diggers. They may do terrierwork regularly, but that doesnt make them terriermen. Cheers FTB

"IMO ... MOST UPLAND KEEPERS BECOME TERRIERMEN WHEN THE VIXENS CUBBING ......... VERY FEW DO MUCH ANY OTHER TIME EXCEPT WHEN THE SNOWS DOWN ....... THESE TYPES ARE TERRIERMEN ? ....... NO WAY ..." Ther is a very good reason for that, because it is the most effective way of catching up with the foxes and reducing the problem before it arises when you have a million and one other things to be doing. Just because you look at it from a sporting angle doesnt mean the lads doing it to preserve their livelyhood should be frowned upon. In some areas foxes wont be undergroung unless they a

"A TERRIERMAN IS OUT TESTING HIS DOGS REGULARY ................" Again it depends what you are doing with your dogs. Some keeper boys get bags of foxes a year with their terriers, not to test them or to prove theirselves but to achieve a goal in reducing fox population. Would you call them less of a terrierman because they dont strive for deep digs, testing quarry, continuous gameness in dogs etc etc. I think you have a good point about some keepers not being ideal 'terrierman' but they are using dogs for the purpose they were bred for and they are doing it for a legitimate reason...s

I'll correct you mate. Most pheasant keepers arent (IMO)that hot with terriers unless they also do it for recrreational purposes. Grouse keepers on the other hand could more than likely show some of the keyboard warriors on here a thing or two about terrierwork. Been out saturday and sunday with some grouse keepers and dug 5 sooked vixens and cubs on the edge of the hill. Accounted for three dog foxes at night as well. The decent grouse boys take no prisoners and know their stuff. Some should take a step back and look at themselves before brandishing bold statements about 'keeper

"and the antis point of view and as for snaring a hare in my book!atvb" Well then, whats the difference?. Are you saying snaring foxes and rabbits is cruel? To me there is no difference, yes the people who did it are worse than shite and should be exposed for it but people need to take a step back and look before pushing the cruelty button - a word that is brandished about too much these days. "whats strange?these greyhound cnuts net these hares from their natrual habitant, and use them for imo barbaric so called sport, and you say wild hares look content in their pens, are you on acid???this is a hunters site, and that aint huntin to me,what about the great number of hares that dont survive, just coz the dogs are muzzled dont mean hares are killed, just imho, and im far from an anti" Hypocrite. You want to get you books in order mate before you start spouting your over opinionated sh1te. And no your not an Anti, in my opinion your worse. Trying to drive a wedge between sportsmen wit

Kind of gets on my tits when people put up pics of milky vixens looking for a pat on the back. Wtf is that all about, you wouldnt do that with a deer so why anything else. At the end of the day, its each to their own and i would never say i think they were in the wrong for doing so, just i wouldnt do it myself. I am after a lamb killer at the moment, and lamping with rifle will be the last option - to avoid shooting the vixen and leaving cubs which could be up to a month old by now. I know sometimes needs must, but i am a bit traditional when it comes to summer hunting - it is

Latest time you have finished a dig
FightTheBan replied to FightTheBan's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
angle is who gives a f...how long it takes as long as its a good ending!! Well whats the fcuk in posting anyting then. That can be said about everything:- why do i care what your terrier looks like, if you got a fox today, if youve bred your dog, how your season went etc etc. The forum is for sharing experiences, opinions etc and thats what ive asked for. Cheers anyway FTB -
Is foxing slowing down on this forum?
FightTheBan replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Unfortunately I don't trace the cubs....I would be a little nervous about asking someone with terriers that I don't know to help out just in case they were trying to slyly work their way into the permission and the next thing I know I am not needed ! I am sure there are plenty of honest terriermen out there, but I am a bit of pessimist and think why take the chance of ruining a good thing! Fair enough mate, i think it is only fair to make the effort (even gas them if need be). At the end of the day, im no hypocrite and i think it is the sporting thing to do. You wouldnt shoot a -
Latest time you have finished a dig
FightTheBan replied to FightTheBan's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Would you care to elaborate?. Its not a question of my dogs harder than yours, ive dug deeper than you bullshit. If you do alot of terrier work you would realise that its not always clear cut, not always straightforward and mistakes can easily be made. The post asks what is the latest time of night you have finished a dig (whether that is intentional, unintentional or a rescue situation). Cheers for your input but i dont get what your angle is. Latest time you have finished a dig
FightTheBan replied to FightTheBan's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Because thats not the question bud. Im wanting to find out the latest time at night (once dark) people have finished digging. The game is completely different once it gets dark (you dont know if it has bolted, you forget where you put gear etc etc). I realise 3 hours is not a long time, i have dug far longer in the past than that, the earth was underestimated and looked like a kick of the turf. FTB -

How many shoters on here would make a concious effort to trace the cubs (by means of terrier) after shooting a well sooked vixen ? Just a question, not wanting an argument. The best method for controlling problem foxes this time of year is to do the vixen and cubs with terriers then wait for the dog to come into the earth that night. FTB -
We had a call out on Saturday for a Vixen and cubs, tried all earths in the area untill we got a posotive in an old kicked out rabbit burrow(tight as a ducks arse). The long and short of it is we totally underestimated the earth and the dog went in at 7 and didnt get doen to it untill 10.30/11 (finished the dig with headlights). The dog in question is not a particularly hard dog and usually bolts her quarry, this fox had wrapped itself amongst tree roots and would not budge. Whats the latest you have finished a dig? FTB

Behave yourself! How much has the priest paid you? Thread isn't about anyone or anything other than should the pope come to England, it's gone off track because he's been sussed covering up for blokes who bugger children. Nothing to do with trading atrocities, you've got no chance of deflecting the hatred and villification that is owed to those who knew and did nothing. Dodgy, dirty, child molesting b.astards, and all the time they had the protection of the so called infallible God on earth. What a load of shit. You just wait until the full scale of the abuse is known .

I work on a farm and need the knife whenever i am there. It is more convenient to keep it in the car. Would i get away with saying i was on my way back from the farm, even if i was not ? FTB

Sorry if i offended you mate, but im more about the present than the past... and at present, the facts are glaringly obvious. FTB

That's the way it works. Go out and commit all the sins you want, call in and see a priest and three hail mary's and a blow job later your sins are forgiven. And if your a priest yourself jobs a good'un FTB

Thats all well and good, what about the victims and their families who dont believe in that pish but want to see justice served. Name and shame, then let the community sort them out is the best method IMO, offering anonymity and protection to scum like this is shamefull. The whole Catholic faith is a sham, commit as much sin as you want, as long as you confess... what utter bollocks. FTB
