The Dubliners, the Furys, The Chieftans and Planxty, sure they all slipped under the radar and had more talent than half the pop acts combined.

I know Paddy Hamill Shanehound. He would have some breeding from England that would decent bred hare dogs. Bear in mind that ALL the top fen type hare dogs are heavy saluki blooded, not because the guys like salukis but because it's the salukis that do the winning were it counts. In the field, not the show ring.

I don't go to many shows but Tom and Sean will be at Moira doing just that hessy1.

Good to see Jerry Reed is still appreciated, I have a few of his L.P.'S from the early 70's. He's an underrated song writer and one of the greatest guitar pickers. The Uptown Poker Club always makes me smile. Jerry also acted as Burt Reynolds' side kick in the Smokey and the Bandit films, and it was his guitar playing that carried the sound track along. Thanks for the link Coyote.....

recently saw a picture of an imported saluki in cmw ,black and white dog ,certainly looked the part ,however they do use stock photos so it could be taken a while ago, give them a ring they are pretty helpful ive found :trader If that's the same picture I'm thinking of trader, it was miscaptioned as the shot was actually of John Lennon and his Star bitch. He and I had a laugh at the claim that it was an imported saluki. Who on earth dreams up these captions? That bitch took 7 out of 7 one day and was witnessed by independent observers. I saw her pluck a flying partridge out of the ai

Giro, as Tomo says, that cross has been used for years and has produced some of the best. When the pure saluki Sonny was bred to the saluki lurcher bitch, Irish Lady, all the litter had class and the one that was tried in Ireland killed loads in small fields.

I never miss this guy when he's in town, my favourite guitarist and a great entertainer. Eric Clapton is quoted as having called him the best guitarist he's ever seen.

Albumen is just about the most biologically available source of protein found in nature, having all of the essential amino acids in near perfect proportion. The old advice not to eat RAW egg white was based on the fact that cooking it destroys the enzyme avidin. Avidin inhibits the absorbtion of biotin, one of the b vitamins and it used to be thought that eating raw egg whites could lead to a shortage of biotin. As dogs are carnivores, the high meat diet would surely mean they would have a surfiet of b vitamins, especially if they're on a whole carcass diet with the liver etc intact. The o

Deerhound/Greyhound - Excercise for Pups

Let them have all the free running play they want. When they've had enough they'll stop. -
She produced Blondie, in my opinion the best Ive ever seen. Dancer was the only Forley cup winner to throw a Forley cup winner.

It's only ten or eleven quid for a tub of Betacel that will last all season and thats formulated specifically for running dogs, as opposed to say, race horses, which require a slightly different balance of potassium and sodium. If your dogs are free running in this heat they'll be losing more than water from panting. All the fluids in a living body have salts dissolved in them so the proper use of electrolytes should rehydrate while maintaining that balance. Speak to a vet who specialises in greyhounds.

During the season any conditioning is done in the field. The mill is just an extra help, not the be all and end all of conditioning. Walking on the mill involves exactly the same muscles as walking on the road. The dogs posture is exactly the same as walking on any other surface, except you can stand along side and note any injury induced lameness which, believe me, is more difficult to eyeball if you're on a bike or in a motor. For those who like road walking, the mill is just a more convenient way to do it. And it can be done while you're at work, allowing more time for free running. I hav

This is a closer shot of the motor with the driving mechanism encased in that housing behind. The wife gives the dogs a few hours every morning through the week while I'm at work and when I get home I take them to the local playing fields for free running, but if It's a gym night for me or there's frozen snow in the winter, all isn't lost as they've had their mileage. Ownership of a mill doesn't mean a shortage of free running any more than ownership of a lead does.

This is the control panel thats on the far side facing the wall. It's basically a timer that winds down every 30 minutes so if you get an offer you cant refuse (I wish), the dogs cant be left on and forgotten about. It would be better had it a speed adjuster like the old human one I had. That one went up to 8 miles per hour, just about on the limit before the dogs gait would break from a trot to a canter. You were able to give them a few minutes at the higher speed every so often.

nice one bolio , i would be glad of a peep at a tred mill simply because i'm handy with the d.i.y and might be able to make myself one of them trotting devices .. .......... might be helpfull to a man with 10 dogs I'm not sure these pix will be of much use to you CBC, ( pardon the abbreviation mate) as it's a heavy old thing and theres not much room for taking pix around it.
-
Well CBC they're certainly fitter than they would be without the mill, given the hours I'm working at the moment, but I'll take some pix tomorrow when I get home for you. At the age of 53 I just wouldn't be able to give them 12 miles roadwork a day plus the free running they need. The bike only works one at a time, but has the advantage of enabling wind sprint type interval training. You're right about keeping an open mind though.......a closed mind learns nothing!

Hi Hob&Jill, That one cost me 1600 euro from a greyhound trainer in Ireland who makes them for the greyhound trade. For years I had used a human treadmill but that only allowed one dog at a time on, so I tried to buy the one that's advertised in the greyhound star. It is made in the south of England and would have cost a fortune to transport. The Irish guy was prepared to deliver to the border where I had it picked up. If you are interested in the two dog walker from England let me know and I'll forward the details. It was priced about £1250 at the time I enquired. Dont let the cynics pu
