  1. I beleive it was a first season dog.MB won, so fair play to him , no ones heard the loser complaining or making excuses , but one match hardly makes Mark a fen champion,Im thinking of the likes of Foxy who won something like 64 matches, that's a champion.
  2. Great to see everyone concerned behaving with class, this has been a real sporting event and so far is a testament to the lads entered, sporting spirit
  3. I had one years ago ,he is in my avatar,he took all game ,and I used him to the gun as well ,Charley was soft mouthed enough so you could let bolters go after he had caught them but he ripped the shit out of "Red uns".A mate of mine had an excellent bitch Belle she took loads of game of all shapes and sizes, she was a beardie cross ,mine was a 34 greyx1/4 Border.I wasn't too impressed with the breeders kennels ,but this was over 30 years ago ,I beleive things are better now.I got into coursing again and went for saluki crosses ,but if I was after a biddable type a collie x might be an option.
  4. I struggled to do an hours bushing with the" boys" today ,my knee is up like a football ,lamping may have to be put on hold ,pity as it looks good for tonight.I think I would have done better to put my glasses on Smokey instead of wearing them myself, he might have missed me then, talk about should have gone to Spec Savers! 5. Years ago a good mate of mine put his Hancock bitch to a straight Greyhound ,the coursing dog Straw Silks ,who won the Anglia Cup and ended up in Pakistan, they produced a decent litter of pups very fast ,as you would expect ,but lost a lot in stamina and brains.Personally, I would not put a straight grey to any dog. I beleive the second cross is tougher and better allround. Something to consider about coursing dogs is that a lack of mouth is actively encouraged, and any tendency to" layoff","run cunning", is also considered undesirable. With this in mind I would plump for a fast stud with say
