  1. If you are referring to the match I think you are the bitch who came second never won the Forley , she was never entered and the circumstances of that match are not in the public domain,I know them, because a friend of mine has the coursing bitch in question. If you are talking about M B's lamping bitch, the winner, you need to know what occurred that day. Tomo has enough experience and time in the game to know a saluki x is the king when it comes to daytime hares on the fens. One swallow doesn't make a summer. How many Forley Cups, Temple Brewers, Forley Legends, have been won by a dee
  2. I owned deerhound crosses decades ago, and have seen plenty of them run on field and fen. With proper slips they cannot compete with a decent saluki cross for stamina. If they could all the big competition winners would not be saluki crosses. Its not hard to work out really. Deerhound crosses are good looking animals, fast ,and game, but on winter hares given fair slips ,on big land they blow up after a couple of hard courses. On big land a dog needs just enough speed to get to its hare , but the brains to settle behind it till the time is right to go for the strike , but it also r
  3. Fast and reasonably agile ,they lacked the stamina of the saluki cross on big land, and so fell out of favour.
  4. No digging on you at all matey but I have seen munty does with very well developed/ready to drop foetuses in early/ mid February which would mean that the foetus would have been pretty well developed in January surely? I've seen them with fauns in Jan and Feb, and also pregnant.
  5. would that be because its smaller i would have thought getting one to break cover would be a job in its self Muntjac can conceal themselves in cover that you would not think would hide a rabbit. They are pretty easy to pull over , being not as fleet a foot as Roe , but can be lethal because of their teeth, which can open a dog up like a can of peas.
  6. Tay ,the black dog had explosive early pace, but lacked the stamina of the other dog ,[think it was Gary Lee's saluki x Sargeant]. Tay put everything he had into the original course , you can see he is" rocking horsing", at the end of it, but still trying to chase. .When the fresh hare jumps, he tries to continue but has absolutely nothing left, no shame in that. I saw Tay run on the fens when he was older , and a little past his best because of injuries , he ran a brother to a dog of mine. He was a genuine dog, and owned by a genuine fella.
  7. She's settling down well here so onwards and upwards I would like to thank everyone who offered help to me ect much appreciated some really good folk on here You're one of them mate fair play to you.
  8. Nice to see that ,tall Andy from the old EELC days rang me last night to tell me you had put it up. I spotted Sleighty with his curly hair and tache. I remember Tay from the old club days, he was certainly very rapid. Thanks for sharing.ATB
  9. He gave his opinion of your bitch to three friends. Is he not entitled to that opinion? Did he travel to you or did he not? Did he charge you for his fuel, or did he not? Did he give you a discount rate for the stud at your request ,or did he not? Did he keep your bitch at his place, look after it, and feed it, or did he not? I've a promising well bred dog here, if he fulfills his early promise, I may use him at stud later. No way would on God's earth would you get his services for a bitch.
  10. You and I have had our differences on here but your comment is confirming what I have been told regarding GL and his Lucy /Crow bitch. Gorger was over here, out with some mates of mine a few weeks ago, they all said he's a sound fella.
  11. He lined the Forley winner , The Crow bitch from down my way with Lucas . The owner of the bitch, G.L, said he's a top lad. If Gorger had come on the internet slagging off the bitch I think the owner would have a legitimate complaint but a private comment made to a friend is much different imo.The man is entitled to his opinion. P.S. I've never met Gorger but------ I am finding it very hard to see where he is guilty of anything but helping someone out, what with travelling to meet them ,looking after their bitch, reducing his stud fee etc, and now having it come back to bi
  12. Come the summer we will hear the same old complaint ",the judge did not pick out working dogs", as if judges can tell its working ability by watching a dog walk around a ring, and by a couple of minutes spent handling it. People would moan if there was no shows on.... yet they pick faults in every show. But didnt you know..... The working dogs are the ones who are marked up and look 'ard' Thanks for the tip

  14. Like you I was there when Blondie won the Millenium Forley fantastic bitch, and the opposition was of the very highest quality. I asked Alan which was the better of the two Blondie or Dancer? He said Dancer had more gears.
  15. And hares were given fair law, not slipped on as soon as they left their forms, or were kicked up with the dog slipped before they were even into their stride.
  16. The relevance being, she must of been judging to a standard, and as it was a working terrier show does it not follow it should of been a working standard Therefore for unless you are digging to terriers regularly how would anyone be able to recognise that working standard when it was stood in front of them ? Will you please define the difference between a working terrier , and a show terrier as far as conformation/ standards are concerned? Would you explain how a judge ascertains the working ability of a terrier when it is the show ring? Would you further explain what exactly
  17. Lovely bitch, that has the characteristics of its sire,ie lean ,and muscly ,without an ounce of surplus flesh
  18. I don't see the relevance of your question. What has that to do with her ability to judge terriers in the show ring?
  19. think so mark tread wells line skycat no,s the dogs parents best on teeth i ever had and its his first session . ATB long dog wouldthis be skycats bloke one . ATB long dog PS PENNY HOPE YOU DONT MIND ME PUTTING THIS UP Penny's partner is taller than that, and I think he wears glasses nowadays.
  20. what you do to me , is hunting not coursing. Coursing is just seeing how the dog runs. Hunting is catching it as quick as possible. Imo lolWhy is there a time limit on it? Many saluki blooded dogs will not attempt a strike until they have got a hare under control, , and they have "lined it up". How many times did you see Lucky strike, and miss overshooting in the process.? Virtually never .All right he was an extreme example , being particularly canny behind his game. but the inherent boxing ability is a saluki trait, running just fast enough to keep the hare under pressure, easing off when th
