  1. If I had a 100% digging dog, done everything I required of it BELOW GROUND, would I cull it out if it chased Sheep or locked onto a Bullock, regardless of how much Puppy training it had had...........Mmmmm
  2. Pipes and 'artificials', ideal places for letting youngsters get amongst it, especially now with these long range finders that are about. No Roots, or too many tight bends or narrow spots.....put to ground by Hounds on a wet January afternoon calls for a 'seasoned' dog. Nice to find 3 to ground and good result for the Landowner, keep the permission happy! OF COURSE YOU ENSURED THE OTHER END OF THE PIPE WAS OPEN TO ALLOW A BOLT......
  3. Thought it best to let those who enquired know I have sold my Gos I advertised on here....many thinks to the genuinely interested ones. Hope you find the Bird you want. Cheers
  4. Has she done much on Roads? When was she last raced, it at all? What is her mile time? Name of sire and dam? When was the last Foal took off her? When she due in season? Can she be seen working 'in Harness'?
  5. Seems strange that after all the arguments, B&F should make their Collar smaller, after all "the size makes no difference".....wonder if people can get a good discount on the new SMALLER Collar!!?...........no breath holding...lol
  6. hi mate are you interested in a trade i have a air arms s410k thanks john What is on offer in the swap mate, plus, age and condition? I would need the full kit to make it worth doing. No good me swapping and then have to buy stuff to get out with it.
  7. 2008 male Parent Reared Goshawk, finished last season at 1lb 8oz after starting at 1lb 6ish. Don't make the mistake of thinking the larger imprinted Birds will be better at hunting......"the size of the fight in the Dog"....and all that. Had 40 Rabbits and mugged 2 Pheasant Cocks over a short period of time. He suffered a lot of Tail damage (my ignorence)and put down to molt early February, but is now ready to bring out of the molt with all new Feathers, I haven't lifted him yet. Thought it best to let new owner do it, help with re-manning by a new handler. I molt all my Birds out on either Bo

    good book

You can tell who the salesmen are....tut,tut...lol. Nice to see you back on bud.
  9. Yes you are right, you could be wrong. When a Pup is in the Litter for you to view, the only thing you can realistically go for is the one that catches your Eye. Most times in the hour or so or whatever you are there to pick a Pup, you go for the most active and forward and, with some, the closest to the 'type' you have a prefernce for. A Bow Legged prick Eared Pup isn't going to catch your Eye, other than to think shit I don't want that one! It isn't until somebody gets left with that Pup and it turns out to be a decent digging Terrier, that the Ears don't become an issue with anyone. If anyo
  10. Think you may be wasting your time, Strong Stuff on here sells some really good solid brass couples. Depends whether people prefer Brass or the harder Stainless Steel. Over the years I have had all sorts of Terrier Couples, but would personally go with harder and longer lasting Stainless....just me though. Certainly be some hard wearing, long lasting stuff with Strong Stuffs Collars on the end.
  11. Hi Bud, I have had 2 or 3 guys come down with 'Plummers' and just let them get on with how they do things, just standing back and watching. I was impressed with one guys dog in particular and would of gladly kept it here. We got chatting that night while out lamping and then it came out!.......the dog was half Plummer and half Gouldy Brightmore! It wasn't a registered so called 'pure' Plummer, it was a cross! It was, however a good dog and worth feeding, capable of some 'heavy' work, worth owning in my opinion. The other two guys had their Terriers running around loose, together, which started
  12. NOBODY IN THE WORLD HAS A DOG ON THEIR YARD, ALIVE, WHICH CAN BE CONSIDERED 'DEAD GAME', IN MY OPINION.
  13. IF THIS HAS BEEN SORTED, TUFFTY SHOULD COME ON HERE AND PUBLICLY SAY SO. SO WE CAN ALL REST KNOWING WE HAVEN'T GOT A SELF CONFESSED STOLEN DOG BUYER IN OUR MIDST.
  14. I am selling my pure Laguna Whippet bitch. Speed to spare, good prey drive, plenty of wind and stamina. Only done Rabbits up to now, daytime and on the lamp. Returns instantly when misses and lamps off and retrieves live to hand when she catches. Broken to Ferrets and Hawks, good with other dogs and very obedient. She is black with white points, lean and fit! Now the ONLY bad bit.....ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE PET HATES.......she yaps when running her Rabbits on the lamp! I have laid her off when growing, I have given her easy ones , hard ones and ones in between, but still yaps. I have had her sinc
  15. For the Collar a magnetic on off switch, so I can tape it all up and not have to 'un-tape' it to turn it off again, when I use the other Collar. The battery housing cap would be better to have to be screwed in and not just sprung loaded, which could happen with magnetic switch. One of my locators is the D3 and I cut the end from a pair of old mobile phone earphones and plug it into the D3 to stop the beeping. An idea for it might be a better way of turning it on and off, without having to use that rubber switch with the lugs on. No problem for me with the job the system does, but could be

  17. If you got no limit for budget, why bother with a Lamp? Go for a good night scope, with good IR Torch.
  18. I have tried for years to get hold of a well bred Border, from well used tested stuff, with BOTH Parents having done some REAL graft. It has been the 'Holy Grail' and still chasing. No point getting into names, just leads to denials and chinese whispers. I refuse to pay the rediculous prices people ask for Pups with Papers, so have asked for Pups without. The usual answer has been "why would I sell you a Pup half price, with no papers, when I can get full price easily enough". That has been the attitude of nearly all the breeders, or close to it. That is why the Border is in the shitter, as a
  19. All Gaffs I had for sale are now gone to new homes. Please no more PM's about them or any I MIGHT sell. I am not selling any more Gaffs.
  20. Bending under a bit more pressure from the Wife, so. 'Spur King' inch and a half regulation Gaffs, 1 pair 'as new condition', £65 for quick sale. 2 pairs of 'new condition' Killingsworth inch and a half 'high points' to sell now, the Leathers are Crocodile Skin effect. Offers around £75 a pair. Mrs says I am a horder, so under pressure the above is now for sale too. Horder?!.......you never know when you might need a six inch length of four by two! All the other Spurs I had for sale have gone, above is all what I have left for sale. I WILL NOT SELL MY COLLECTION!
  21. I have several pairs of brand new Spurs for sale. I am downsizing my collection a bit more, so some inch and a half regulation Spurs are for sale. They are made by 'Spur King' and 'Killingsworth', who are both reputable spur makers in the USA. Spurs are extremely difficult to get in from the USA nowadays, regardless of the collectable interest. They will become an investment for the future, because it will be impossible soon, to get them in. I am selling because I have enough of the same style and size. South west England, can be posted. I want £85 a pair for them, they are in unused conditi

    Fox Nets

This Site never ceases to amaze me.....lmmfao! What I class as standard= 6ft heavy duty spun nylon, extra long draw cord, 17 across and stainless steel Rings and as good as any I have bought or seen over the years. If anyone does the same and is cheaper they are welcome to the custom, no sleep lost.

Standard 6ft heavy duty spun nylon Fox Net, £10.
  24. In days gone a mute dog was culled out and considered next to useless. A few guys I have spoken to were in Clubs and IF they had a mute dog a little baying Bitch was put in to locate the first dog. Dogs were used more than Bitches to locate and get to grips, by these guys anyway. There was a LOT of 'doubling up' in the 'good ole days'....lol. On windy, wet days trying to locate a bayer can be time consuming, they had to be 'stayers', but now with locators they only have to stay less than half the time they would of before. When I first started guys still didn't use locators too often, it was
  25. I have a Dog Crate for sale. It is made by Merlin products of Luton, check their Web Site (do a search). It is the one top left in the group of Crates Picture. The external dimensions are H24"X W32"X L38" and I would say you could comfortably fit 3 or 4 Beagle sized Dogs in it, depends on the size of the Dogs, obviously. I have had 2 ESS in it easily. I am in the south west and am asking £125 for it, half the new price, but is like new and only used 3 times.
