  1. We were there today....and going back tomorrow. Never been to this one before, we were late and missed the terrier racing...will try to get there tomorrow. Watched some of the longdogs go and had a chat to a few who were about. Not gonna say how but we got free tickets for tomorrow so a shame to waste them and we may get there earlier, if my daughter is well, so we'll see what our lad can enter then!!! See any of you there....we will be the only ones [if today was anything to go by] with a Plummer!! lol ATB p.s. anyone heard a weather report for tomorrow...???
  2. Hi, my 100% polyester jacket with a PVC coating is now letting water in.... can i use one of those spray cans to rewaterproof it [like you do tents]? is there anything else I can do to get it waterproof i.e. wax etc.....dont want to get a new one as this still has plenty of life in it and is very comfy, just want it waterproof again.... i have now heard that fabsil or similar wont work on polyester [it does say only cottons, nylon or polycottons] as the old pvc coating wont allow it to work?? any advice appreciated!!
  3. interesting but surely all the sites have to do is stop using the abbreviation and write out their full name??!!
  4. Not sure if anyone has seen this yet... Inheritance dispute...
  5. cheers for the replies...it is all new to me really, been around farms and country sports all my life but not owned a hunting-working dog like this before, although been out with a few when young. i am learning all the time and probably make more mistakes than Bilbo does, hope i learn quick though!! Want to publicise the breed in a good light...as it does get a slating, some lighthearted [and i am always up for a laugh], some not so lighthearted , but if the articles encourage others to take up the 'sport'/working dogs [whether Plummers or not - but hopefully ] then it can only bode wel
  6. Derek, i take it from reading this and the attached links that this post may be something to do with the evidence gathered during a/some raids on your home??? i take it one of the photos, perhaps of birds/eggs/people with any of the aforementioned were seized and had a picture of your son on it??? having read the police response regards to you being 'vexatious', it appears they will not discuss matters any further...if you want any more answers from them you will have to start a legal action if you feel they are in the wrong. if the above is correct then i cant see where any 'ha
  7. thanks for the replies....as for going to ground....I have a couple of pieces of land with foxes on. One, the turkey farm wont want foxes around as they predate on their fowl. Bilbo has already been into one of the sets [self entered], luckily there was no one home. It isn't something that I had really planned but I want him to develop naturally. Fox is a scent he is well aware of and he seems to find it easily. I think when the time is right he will go to ground. I will have to keep an eye on him [and get a collar/receiver for him]. Sounds soft but I wouldn't want anything bad to happen
  8. If they see fit to publish it....hope they do!!! Thanks he is filling out a bit now...got him on this Squire And Beaumont stuff and he seems to love it. Sometimes he seems slightly clumsy but today he really switched on....its one of them today where I feel ten feet tall [even if it was all his hard work!!] ATB
  9. What an afternoon...what I thought would be a long walk to exercise Bilbo to ease my guilt at putting him in kennels for 4 days as of tomorrow ended up in a mad couple of hours at the farm. We had a long walk down the fields but nothing presented itself. By the time we had got back to the yard the farm hands were well on their way, clearing an area behind the duck pen. They shouted over about rats they had seen so I put the gun away and walked around with Bilbo, stick, shovel and gloves. As we neared the area Bilbo flew over to the side of a nearby chicken shed. He was marking an
  10. Is it time for one of the big tv chanels to start to promote safe gun handling/use? Programmes - an extension of 'Countyrfile' type that actually show shooting sports of all kind and give advice on safety as well as humane shooting. People may start to see the air gun as a danger if they see it being used, it may get away from the pop gun type idea that some have of the airgun?? fairly sure in this day and age none of the big chanels would even consider it but an interesting discussion point. A lot of bad press re. airguns but no positive messages on their use in pest control or target s
  11. try this...permission_letter.pdf
  12. oooppps.....forgot about the 'real' digging men  . should have been a bit more specific about what i put....i was only giving advice from my own experience and what i want out of my pup!! although no mention was made of what breffni was wanting out of his pup in the first place.... i knew that there would be others who's main aim was digging for fox , and i was sure they would give their opinion, but i want a bit more out of my pup....if he comes across a set i hope he will get to grips but thats not the be all and end all for him or me. plenty of room on here, and out there
  13. baby rabbits if they can catch them...rats once they have their adult teeth... [mice before that if they come across them] then see how they go...my plummer is game and has seen/ragged foxes but as for encouraging him on them i would rather wait another 9 months or so to let him develop [about 18 months by then]...dont want him smashed up before then and put off. then got years ahead to work him....got introduced to his first mink yesterday.....did himself proud!!!
  14. Nice one Fireman!!!! wish i could find somewhere like that round here, but things coming along now. ATB with your pup as well. Toka
  15. Yeah...that him...some more articles about to go in!! Thanks for the comments....hadn't thought of the grass, will try that for sure! ATB
  16. cheers Fireman...yup i hope that i can get a petrol engine off eeebbaaaayyyy in the next few days, then i will stop a few of the holes with soil and use it to flush out to him, if no smoker i wil try to get farmer to link up a hose and use water. i think there will be loads under the concrete!!
  17. Some more pics from toady's outing, same palce but concentrated on the mound and there were loads under the concrete surround of the drain. Need to get a smoker soon, not sure if there is a water hose that would reach a good couple of hours, missed loads though mainly due to too many bolt holes that we couldn't cover between the 2 of us, and also a few that got to the fence wire before Bilbo could get to them, made up aswell that i could trust him with the free range hens about as well!! poor video!!!
  18. Well proud as punch today with Biblo...we went down the turkey farm for a look, not expecting much as the rain was lashing down. it eased off slightly as we arrived but was still miserable. anyway saw some new pigs on the farm and did introduced Bilbo to them, as well as the chickens and ducks again as he hasnt seen many recently [even had an introduction to a harris hawk that was tethered out later on-he obeyed my 'NO' and cowered some 3 feet infront of it, trying to work out what it was. his/our first meeting with one, and an unexpected meeting at that. once i had removed my heart from m
  19. Plummers good too, as are JRT's etc to name but a few....whatever you get get it from a good working background to be more likely to get the one you want. Ask any questions on here as well if you are unsure. ATB
  20. You should be able to get a good Plummer for £200!!!...£400 seems to be excessive... just been to the EPTS show and some cracking dogs around. Have a look at the EPTS or PTA, WPTF website and give them a call...they will let you know if there are any pups, and be able to recommend a good line for working...pups are a bit thin on the groun at the moment but well worth waiting for!!! ATB
