  2. hi...finally picked up my new gun....can anyone enlighten me on some of the markings found on the barrels... stamped into on barrel is 'CAM .70' [i presume that means 12 bore] further down near the breech is stamped on both barrels '18 4' and on the bottom barrel is KG1.350 [i take it that is the proof] on the underside of the locking points are stamped '4' and '2' [will these refer to the chokes?] and on the barrel and stock metal are stamped with a star in a circle, 'psf' and 'finito' i have been told that this is a 1/4 and half choke gun, which barrel will be which?? a

  7. Hi...just wondering regarding shotguns what is the better system, if one can be classed as better. Are there any pros or cons regarding either or is it a cost thing???? Any advice or information welcome....thanks
  8. Hi...on one of these forums a few years ago someone mentioned they use a small pot [similar size to a shoe polish can] that is left in the gun cabinet and gives off a vapor that drives off condensation and help prevent rust. has anyone used it or can anyone recall a name???
  9. Hi thanks for the vote of confidence!!!! i was reasonably sure that in some way shape or form it could be done but after a 20 minute phone call involving god knows how many people in the office at their end i resigned myself to paying the extra now....so as not to lose my permission...but in 5 years time i will be going to BASC and asking them to intervene/help out. I am happy though that the advice wasn't given solely to get me to stump up more money, it was given out of a firm belief that they were right...although if others have had this done then it does show a substantial lack of knowled
  10. Well after much tooing and froing with my firearms department, being put on hold...being transferred to another person, discussions between firearms staff I got the news today......no they cant bring my coterminus licence forward from 190409 to say next week as if they change the date the certificate becomes unlawful??!! The only thing they could suggest was getting a separate sgc and fac, and starting the sgc next week. when it comes to 5 years down the line they suggest that i either pay the £40 for the sgc renewal and then cancel it 6 weeks later to start a coterminus licence in line wit
  11. Hi...if its the same lad thats put up the post and just said he has been charged with an offence then his solicitor should be free if he is hard up...he should be able to use the BASC one and they claim the money back......dont know if its the same one though....
  12. tcp works..and some use honey [good on toast as well] as it is an antiseptic with 'healing' properties...you're right to get advice and be a bit concerned but dont worry overly...
  13. Bilbo recently took a liking to the pigeons in the town...he has been introduced to turkey and geese and doesnt like them, the other day on the lead in the town he went after a couple of pigeons, he did a bit of a somersault at the end of his lead both times followed by a 'no' and that is the last time he did it. the next time he looked as if he may make a move and a quick tug and 'no' was all it took. while the missus was in morrisons took him to the nearby pond....pigeons, geese, swans duck, moorhens and chicks all about and friendly wanting fed...he didnt look at one, not even the chicks
  14. hi, whats it called exactly....looking for it on the web under week in week out itv wales but it says week in week out is a bbc program and has no mention of fox hunting????
  15. Hi...what a good day out it was, together with plenty of sunshine....came away with loads of goodies and slightly sun tanned [or at least it feels it] Just like to say thanks to all the Terriermen and Lurchermen who took time out to stop and say hello...loads of good advice taken and for a newbie i got to dish out some advice as well. I was the one walking around with the Plummer pup............and no to all you cheeky t##ts i wasnt for selling him/giving him away or swapping him for a pork roll [which were well worth swapping someone elses dog for!!!!! ] More than one person said 'w
  16. Dont worry I will be phoning them!!!! just wondered if anyone has tried to do the same 'cos everyone who I'v asked here seems to doubt it can be done!! thanks for the comments!!
  17. Well here goes......i recently had my renewal forms come through for my fac which runs out on 6/4/09. decided to get an sgc as well and so asked for it coterminus.... Lancs were really good in that within 2 days i had the receipt confirmation and 7 days later the feo appeared. he told me there would be no problem with the renewal or sgc and to start looking for a shotgun. [i know that its not a done deal till the paperwork arrives so to speak, but decided to go looking for a 12 bore] within days, and a few shops later i found a secondhand 12 bore and put my deposit on it. it was then tha
  18. try the water pistol/spray bottle.....when it starts barking dont look at it or shout [cos in its eyes it thinks you are joining in with the noise] spray it a couple of times in the face. dogs hate it [usually].....may have to get up a few times initially but it does seem to work....worth a try anyway!!!
  19. i think unlawful detention is compensated at £1000 per hour in custody.......doesnt take into account the stress involved in this, when a couple of quick enquiries could have resolved it there and then....hope they get a suitable compensation, it will make them think twice next time........you'd like to think!!???
  20. hi...not sure if this is the right place for this thread but i am sure it will be moved if not...... i was out on one of my permissions the other day...the farmer has problems with foxes, that like to free meal on his poultry!!! anyway i have recently see one fox whilst lamping but it was far away and quite obviously spooked by the light....anyway in daylight i had a look along the edge of the railway line that borders the land....[at a point opposite where i had seen the fox] i found a drainage pipe [2 or 3 feet in diameter] that exited at the base of the embankment. there was a very de
  21. Hi...I have just found an o/u, 28" barrel [i think], non ejector, 2 3/4" chambers, that fits me well.... all i could see on the barrel was the engraving of 'Sport Armi' or 'Armi Sport'....i take it this will be an Italian gun but does anyone know of this make.... any info would be appreciated....i am getting it anyway as it is a very solid and clean gun that fits, a couple of blemishes on the stock/fore end but otherwise good...i would just like to know some history???? ta
  22. if you got any doubts, you can join BASC, then ask their firearms legal dept. they will let you know the best way to go about applying knowing the full history, or they will tell you not to bother until...etc. if they feel you have a good case they may even fight the police for you.... hope this helps
  23. Well...not one for taking my time.....went looking today, open minded [as fit is the main consideration] 12 or 20g - s/s or o/u, length no issue and choke [i didnt want a full/full] and under £200. went to first local small shop on way to main gunsmith...nothing in in my price range although some nice, more expensive s/h guns... got to second main dealer, explained what i was looking for, greeted with a friendly smile and confident staff. told them my history with shotguns so no novice but at 15 yrs old i wasnt concerned with fit or any other issues...just did it go bang and do the job...w
  24. yup...got a terrier pup and fed up flushing stuff that wont sit still for the rifle so a shotgun made sense....also got more pigeon on one of my permissions so fancy a go...
