Hi Newbie1980, I do wash my pellets and lube them for better accuracy. I find that if you get a new tin of pellets and look at them they look really clean, but if you poor them into a see through glass with warm soapy water in and give them a gentle swirl about you will see fine bits of lead swirling about in the water. This lead can only be seen in the water and in a clear glass. It also after time sits in you guns rifling making micro obstacles in the barrel so working against you when you are trying to be as accurate as possible. What I then do is get a siv with a pretty

How to make metal targets for under a pound
zini replied to zini's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
LOL Stealthly Hi Sib, Thats the perks of working on a military camp mate where you have miles of permission to shoot over So when you making the journey up Sib to shoot some North Yorkshire vermin? I will need a new job in 3 years time Sib so am counting on you finding me a good one at your place Si -
Thanks guys for the kind comments Hi Joey pal, Yes the spoon bent on the last shot pal. Just goes to prove that at 50 metres the 16 grain pellets still retain a good whack as them spoons are pretty solid things. I took the R10 out today with the scope camera for its first day on live vermin Ill post that footage later when i get home from work pal. I think you will be pretty impressed pal Si

Hi all, Here is some video footage as previously requested by Airgunners, Spring & Precharged section members from yesterdays accuracy testing using my BSA R10 in .22 calibre, FX 16 grain pellets, Tasco 6-24x50 AO scope and my bipod. The group size at 30 metres (32.8 yards) that I achieved was quite good I thought for me, but I know that the rifle could do a lot more with a better shot behind it. Its far more accurate than what you are going to watch I'm sure. I rate this rifle as one of the very best that I have ever shot. Its simple to operate, it works flawlessly everyt

Hi Lord, There are some good ones from a man called Fred Carter. The DVD's are called Fred Carters Country Classics. Spring time pest control and 24 Hour rabbit raid are very good DVD's He also does one called Spring gun pest control. They are all worth looking at pal. Zini

How to make metal targets for under a pound

LOL Rifleman  That was funny. Hi Joey, Its terrible pal and snowing right now. Im taking the R10 and camera to work tomorrow to shoot some vermin. The crows are everywhere again Si -
Hi JackReid, Yes i always zero at 30 metres at x12 mag on both my rifles. I then shoot at x 10 mag. I use a bigger mag as sometimes i shoot at 45 to 50 metres so need my mil dots. If i change the mag for normal shot 15 to 35 metres to say x6 and get to know their hold over when i have to bump up the mag to x 10 for the longer shots i would get confused and probably miss. Changing the mag on a scope does not effect its zero mate that’s what they are designed to do so feel free to experiment pal What does change unless you have the scope with the mil dots engraved o

How to make metal targets for under a pound

LOL I dont know Kev mate as i havent shot at them yet. I will be out later in the range with Dylan testing them and the scope cam at different ranges. Ive sort of stollen Davys idea as it was a very good one i thought . Si -
Hi Nasher, That depends on what magnification you have your scope set on pal. Hold over /under changes with magnification changes. I use x 10 to shoot and hunt and 20 metres is 1 mil dot hold under for me. 40 metres is 2 mil dots hold over. I should imagine that you are using a lower mag setting on your Tasco pal than me. Zini
-
Hi all, After watching Davys fantastic post the other day and him shooting them really cool metal crow and rat targets i decided to make some for myself to use in the indoor range to test my scope cam out now that the adaptor as arrived. I wanted to keep the cost down as much as possible so here is my talk through so other shooters can easily make the targets too. 1. All you need is old metal coat hangers 2. Some old scaffolding planks or heavy wood to use as the target bases. 3. Some old spoons 4. A drill and metal bit, 2 pairs of pliers and some wire cutters. Dril

That’s exactly true Sib, I agree with you 100% mate That’s why I designed my own trajectory chart which I think you have now and people can now download on here from the help section . The computer software is great and I won’t knock it but to be 100% correct to your own combos best to do your own testing at different ranges to ensure perfect pellet placements. When killing vermin at 30 metres and beyond as in all shooting at all ranges its only fair that you kill the animal the cleanest way possible and that means as good a POI as possible . I think a simple way t

Hi all, I received a PM from a friend that i want to keep anonymous asking me a question about hold over and under. I didn’t have the text book answer myself only what I’ve always known after being taught in the military. I got interested myself so i went looking for the answer on the net. Here is what i have managed to find on the net put into a word document to explain hold over and under for everyone to read. It explains which is which quite well. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you Joey pal . Hi Sib, I like to be different pal I just like to be able to use my mil dots calibtated to how they always look through the scope with my eye on x 10 mag pal. All the 3 or 4 mag on the cam does is brings the eye relief and cross hairs in focus Si

I'm sorry to hear about the scope cam getting damaged Davy pal I feel sorry for you mate missing that first scope cam bunny but i know it takes alot of control and skill to be able to point the scope camera and rifle while looking at the screen and concentrating on making a clean humane kill. I found it hard today just making a 20 metre shot on a bottle top. Its alot harder than just shooting the rifle normally like most people do, and unless people try it for themselves they will think its just as easy as normal shooting but it defo isnt. Im sure next time when the cam is fixed
-
Dont worry about that pal it defo will be used when out bunny bashing I intend to take it to the permission and drive around until i have vermin from 10 metres out to 55 metres and then talk through the shots in regards to hold over and under so that people can see where i place the points of the scope for each shot at each range. Its quite easy really once you memorise the dots to the ranges and if you stay within your shooting caperbility Si

No Kev, I only got back from Germany at 0020hrs this morning pal so i have been walking the dog and getting ready for work again. I also put the adaptor together. Just need the camera adaptor to arrive so i can shoot using 2 hands instead of using one and resting on a pillow When it comes im going to fit it and trial it in the in door range at 5 metres intervals out to 55 metres to ensure that the mil dots all corrospond to what POI i know with the FX pellets. Ill then get some footage posted of it in action shooting vermin. Si

Hi all, This is my scope camera and home made eye relief adaptor. I have designed and made the eye relief adaptor to enable me to still shoot at x10 magnification on the scope and x3 on the camera which just brings the cross hairs nicely into focus . The adaptor has been made out of a 42mm plummers basin pipe to fit over my 40mm Tasco eye piece and a metal and rubber jublee clip to hold the adaptor firmly to the scope eye piece. The mil dot system that i know and use still seems to work well at 20 metres. I haven’t shot at anything further away yet as my camera adaptor t

Brilliant footage yet again there Davy pal I do like the flatness for that trajectory on the .177 pal Until you put your footage up i never really looked at .177 trajectory, but i see now how useful it is for getting really clean kills. I think after watching your footage pal more people will be converted to the smaller calibre . I look forward to seeing it in real action shooting vermin. Maybe all the regulars on here should take some good video footage and give it to one editor and we should make our own shooting DVD? It could be a way of introducing new shooters to th

"Muppets", Its also very rude to call people on here Muppets, Slingshot. As far as I was aware i was shooting vermin on that day, not game and if it was illegal i didnt know it was or i wouldnt of done it. A friend of mine as showed me the rules and it does state that bird pests are not to be shot on that day but as i didnt know, its too late so what can i do but remove the thread and say sorry for offending people. Ill remove the video and edit the thread. Zini.

Nice shooting Kev pal. I get home tomorrow night from Germany so will be out for sure on the 4th bashing some vermin. Si
